Hilux parts from Dubai: engine codes, chassis numbers and how to order
Updated
The quick answer
Hilux owners abroad can send the chassis number and engine code on WhatsApp, and a person checks UAE stock and the Sharjah and Dubai parts markets before replying with a quote. The engine code matters most, because the same Hilux carries petrol or diesel engines depending on the market. Your own cargo agent collects in Dubai and ships onward; we do not ship abroad or promise delivery times.
Key facts
- Toyota's UAE Hilux page lists a 2.7 litre four-cylinder and a 4.0 litre V6; Toyota South Africa lists 2.4 and 2.8 litre GD-6 diesels. Same badge, different engines.
- Toyota unveiled the eighth-generation Hilux on 21 May 2015 and announced the 2.4 litre 2GD-FTV and 2.8 litre 1GD-FTV diesels on 19 June, to replace the KD family.
- Toyota held the ninth-generation Hilux's world premiere in Bangkok on 10 November 2025, with launches in Asia to follow from 2026.
- In Wikipedia's tables KUN codes go with the KD diesels, TGN with the 2.0 and 2.7 petrols, GGN with the 4.0 V6 and GUN with the GD diesels.
- Toyota calls the Fortuner Hilux-based, and both carry the GD diesels, so a Fortuner owner can ask whether a Hilux number applies.
- The UAE drives on the right, so trucks sold here are normally left-hand drive; seven markets we write for drive on the left.
- We do not ship abroad: your cargo agent or forwarder collects in Dubai. Batteries, airbag modules and undrained engines stay out of export quotes.
- No prices are shown here; a person quotes each Hilux part on WhatsApp.

Which Hilux generation is yours?
Toyota's Global Newsroom says the Hilux first went on sale in 1968 and had sold more than 16 million by May 2015, in over 180 countries and regions. It calls the truck unveiled in Bangkok on 21 May 2015 the eighth generation. Wikipedia counts the Hilux Vigo that Toyota put on sale in Thailand on 25 August 2004 as the seventh, which fits Toyota's own eighth for 2015, and Toyota South Africa's range page names the current truck the 9th generation.
The model codes in the table are Wikipedia's, since Toyota's press pages do not print them. Use the table to place your truck, then send the full chassis number, which is what the desk checks. The year alone is not enough: the seventh generation ended and the eighth began in May 2015, so a truck from that year can belong to either.
| Generation | Model codes | Date from Toyota | Engines named |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seventh (Vigo) | AN10, AN20, AN30 | On sale in Thailand 25 August 2004 | 2KD-FTV 2.5 and 1KD-FTV 3.0 diesels; 2TR-FE 2.7 and 1GR-FE 4.0 V6 petrols |
| Eighth | AN110, AN120, AN130 | Unveiled in Bangkok 21 May 2015 | 2GD-FTV 2.4 and 1GD-FTV 2.8 diesels, KD diesels in some markets, the same petrols |
| Ninth | AN220, AN230 | World premiere 10 November 2025 | Toyota South Africa lists 2.4 and 2.8 litre GD-6 diesels, the 2.8 also as a mild hybrid |
Which engines do Hilux owners abroad ask about?
The engines below are the ones Toyota's own pages and Wikipedia's generation tables name for the seventh and eighth generations. Toyota announced the GD diesels on 19 June 2015 and said the KD engines would be gradually phased out and replaced by them. The same page adds that specifications vary according to market, and Wikipedia notes that KD diesels were offered in several markets beside the GD engines.
In Wikipedia's tables and photo captions the first letters of the model code follow the engine: KUN with the KD diesels, TGN with the 2.0 and 2.7 litre petrols, GGN with the 4.0 V6 and GUN with the GD diesels. That is a pattern in a reference and not a rule, and a yard confirms it from the full number. A code that matches starts the conversation; the year, the drive type and the market still decide whether a part fits.
| Code | Size and fuel | Where it appears |
|---|---|---|
| 2KD-FTV | 2.5 litre turbo diesel | Seventh generation; kept in some markets beside the GD engines |
| 1KD-FTV | 3.0 litre turbo diesel | Seventh generation; kept in some markets beside the GD engines |
| 2GD-FTV | 2.4 litre turbo diesel | Eighth generation; the Hilux Toyota reintroduced in Japan in September 2017 |
| 1GD-FTV | 2.8 litre turbo diesel | Eighth generation, in the Hilux launched in Thailand in May 2015 |
| 2TR-FE | 2.7 litre four-cylinder petrol | Seventh and eighth generations; Wikipedia lists the seventh-generation 2.7 for the Arabian Peninsula, South Africa and other markets, and Toyota UAE lists a 2.7 litre four |
| 1GR-FE | 4.0 litre V6 petrol | Seventh and eighth generations; Toyota UAE lists a 4.0 litre V6 |
Why does the same Hilux need different parts in different markets?
Toyota UAE's Hilux page for 2026 lists a 2.7 litre four-cylinder and a 4.0 litre V6. Toyota South Africa's Hilux Double Cab page lists 2.4 litre and 2.8 litre GD-6 diesels. Toyota's table of its IMV series lists the Middle East and Africa among the regions where the Hilux is sold, and says diesel engines are made in Thailand and gasoline engines in Indonesia and distributed to the plants. One badge therefore covers trucks assembled in different countries and fitted with different engines.
That is why a part ordered by model name goes wrong. A Hilux with a 2.8 litre GD diesel and one with a 4.0 litre V6 petrol share a name, not an engine. Send the engine code and the chassis number, and the desk checks the UAE market against them. What the UAE holds for a given code is a question for a person and not for this page, and we claim no depth of stock for any code until one has looked.
A May 2026 trade article describes Ras Al Khor, Dubai's auto parts market, as a vast market of new, used and reconditioned parts from Japan, Europe and the United States. That breadth is the reason to ask here: one request can come back with an aftermarket part or a used one, and the quote says which.
Can a Fortuner or Innova owner ask for the same parts?
Toyota's Global Newsroom described the Fortuner in July 2015 as Hilux-based, with the same GD diesel engines. Toyota's 2012 announcement of five million IMV sales named the family as the Hilux pickup, the Innova minivan and the Fortuner SUV. An owner of either can therefore ask whether a Hilux number applies, and a person checks.
A shared platform does not make every part interchangeable. The part number and the chassis number decide, and the desk quotes only what matches them. Toyota's make page on this site covers the UAE side of these trucks, from the generations sold here to how two quotes for one job can differ.
Which side is your truck driven from?
A truck bought new in the UAE is normally left-hand drive, because the UAE drives on the right. Owners in markets where traffic keeps left drive right-hand-drive trucks. The table shows the traffic side in each market we write for, and the steering side that usually goes with it.
Tell us your truck's side with every request. Dashboard parts, pedals and anything fitted to the steering side belong to one side of the truck, and the desk asks the yard before it quotes them. The engine code and the chassis number still come first.
| Market | Traffic keeps to the | Trucks are usually |
|---|---|---|
| UAE | Right | Left-hand drive |
| Kenya | Left | Right-hand drive |
| Uganda | Left | Right-hand drive |
| Tanzania | Left | Right-hand drive |
| Zimbabwe | Left | Right-hand drive |
| South Africa | Left | Right-hand drive |
| Zambia | Left | Right-hand drive |
| Malawi | Left | Right-hand drive |
| Nigeria | Right | Left-hand drive |
| Ghana | Right | Left-hand drive |
Which Hilux parts can the desk look for?
Toyota's description of the eighth generation gives a map of the truck: a newly developed frame with enlarged side rails, upgraded leaf-spring suspension and shock absorbers, new diesel engines with a newly developed six-speed automatic gearbox, and LED headlamps in the front end. The desk can look for parts in each of those groups: engines and gearboxes, springs and shock absorbers, front-end parts and lamps, and the wear parts around them.
Our export quotes cover aftermarket, used and GCC-spec parts, plus trade quotes for larger orders. We do not run a catalogue of genuine Toyota part numbers for export, and we leave out of an export quote anything that carries fluid, a battery, an airbag module, a belt pretensioner or a gas-filled shock absorber, because those raise dangerous-goods questions we do not handle.
How do Hilux parts reach you?
Your own cargo agent or forwarder collects in Dubai and ships onward. Easy Auto does not ship abroad and gives no delivery times, and a person confirms the collection details with you on WhatsApp. A box of small parts and a gearbox on a pallet travel differently, so tell your agent what is in the load before they book it.
Rules for used parts differ by market, and some markets check them at the border: Kenya inspects used spare parts from the UAE before shipment, and South African importers are told that used goods need an ITAC permit. The country pages take each market in turn. Our page on half-cut engines explains how whole engines move and why they go drained, and our wholesale page covers mixed orders for traders.
What to send for a Hilux quote
Send the chassis number from the plate, the engine code, the month and year of build if you have them, which side the truck is driven from and the country it is in. Add a photograph of the part you need replaced and of any number stamped on it. A truck built for the Japanese market usually carries a short chassis number that starts with the model code, such as KUN26 or GUN126, followed by a serial number, while trucks built for other markets may carry a 17-character VIN. Send whichever you have.
A person then checks UAE stock and the Sharjah and Dubai parts markets and yards, and replies on WhatsApp with a quote that says whether each part is new aftermarket or used. How to pay is confirmed in that chat. This page shows no prices, because a quote depends on the part, the engine code and the market. Ask for several parts in one message: a list quoted together saves a round of questions.
UAE parts shops that export
These shops are here because our record of each one lists exporting, sending parts outside the UAE, among what it offers, and names Toyota among the makes it covers. It is a record of what they told us or published, not a check that they send parts to your country today or of what is on the shelf, and none of them has paid to be here. Ask how the part reaches you, and who handles the export paperwork, before you pay.

Questions buyers ask
- Which engines does the Hilux have in the UAE?
- Toyota UAE's Hilux page, read on 7 October 2026, lists a 2.7 litre four-cylinder and a 4.0 litre V6. Toyota's own engine descriptions name those sizes the 2TR-FE and the 1GR-FE. A used truck can carry a different engine, so the code on the plate settles it.
- What is the difference between the Hilux Vigo and the Hilux Revo?
- Vigo is the name Toyota used when it launched the seventh generation in Thailand in 2004. Revo is the Thai name Wikipedia gives the eighth generation, which Toyota unveiled in Bangkok in May 2015. Sellers sometimes use the Thai names, so read them as the seventh and eighth generations and still send the chassis number.
- Do Fortuner parts fit a Hilux?
- Toyota's Global Newsroom described the Fortuner as Hilux-based in July 2015, and both carry the GD diesel engines. That does not make every part interchangeable. Send the part number or the chassis number and the desk checks what matches before a quote is given.
- Can you deliver a Hilux part to my address abroad?
- No. Easy Auto does not ship abroad. Your own cargo agent or forwarder collects the part in Dubai and ships it on, and a person confirms the collection details on WhatsApp. We give no delivery times; the schedule comes from your agent.
- What does a Hilux chassis number look like?
- A car built for the Japanese market often carries a short chassis number that begins with the model code. Hilux model codes in Wikipedia's tables look like KUN26, GGN25 or GUN126. A truck built for another market may carry a 17-character VIN instead. Send whichever is on the plate, and both if you can.
- Will the ninth-generation Hilux change which parts you can find?
- Toyota held its world premiere in Bangkok on 10 November 2025, with Asian launches following from 2026, and Toyota South Africa already lists a 9th generation range. We claim no stock for it. Ask with the chassis number and a person checks what can be found.
- Do you export new or used Hilux parts?
- Both are possible. Our export quotes cover aftermarket, used and GCC-spec parts, and each quote says which kind it is. A used part is described as used on the invoice, which some markets require, and your clearing agent confirms what your country asks for.
- Can I buy a Hilux engine and gearbox from you?
- Ask on WhatsApp with the engine code and the chassis number. A person checks UAE stock and the Sharjah and Dubai yards. Whole engines go drained, and the half-cut engines page explains how cuts and loose engines travel through your cargo agent.
