Mitsubishi Fuso Canter parts from Dubai for export: 4D33, 4M50, 4P10

Updated

The quick answer

Canter fleet operators in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Zimbabwe give a person on WhatsApp the chassis number, the engine code and the parts they need, and each line comes back quoted new, as genuine, OE-brand or quality aftermarket. The engine code matters most: the Canter has carried the 4D33, the 4M42, the 4M50 and, since 2009, the 4P10, and a three-litre truck can be either of two engines. Your own cargo agent collects in Dubai.

Key facts

  • Wikipedia dates the seventh-generation Canter (FE70 and FE80) to June 2002 in Japan and the eighth to November 2010, with a facelift in October 2020.
  • The Canter's engines include the 4,214 cc 4D33, the 4,899 cc 4M50 and the 2,998 cc 4P10; a 2,977 cc 4M42 ran from September 2001 to July 2009.
  • Fuso's southern Africa FE4-130 was described in June 2018 as a 3.0 litre Euro-3 truck rated 96 kW and 300 Nm (Focus on Transport).
  • Fuso was delivering 250 Canters to a Harare bakery group in 2022, with ZIMOCO as the Zimbabwe distributor (Truck & Bus Builder, 18 July 2022).
  • Business Daily's Kenya table gives Simba Corp, Fuso's distributor, 1,134 new vehicles in 2025 against 977 in 2024, with no split by make.
  • Fuso's FA and FI, launched in Dar es Salaam in March 2014, put the Canter cab on a Fighter chassis, so Canter numbers are not assumed to fit.
  • We found no published Canter fleet count for Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania or Zimbabwe, so this page claims none.
  • This page prints no Canter price; a person prices every line on WhatsApp and names its grade.

Which Canter generation and engine do you drive?

Wikipedia's Canter article dates the fifth generation from October 1985, the sixth from November 1993 in Japan, the seventh (the FE70 and FE80 series) from June 2002 and the eighth from November 2010, with a Japanese facelift on 19 October 2020 that brought the 4P10+ engine. One section of the article calls that 2020 truck a ninth generation, so a buyer should read the build date and not the generation name. Codes such as FE74, FE84 and FE85 sit under the seventh-generation series.

Where a Canter was built matters too. Wikipedia lists Canter plants in Indonesia, Egypt, Portugal, the Philippines, Venezuela, Turkey and Russia, and says the Portuguese plant changed to Iveco F1C diesels and ZF transmissions in 2010. European codes such as 3C13 and 7C18 therefore belong to a different truck from the Asian FE7 and FE8 trucks, even when both are called Canter.

Is a three-litre Canter always a 4P10?

No. The 4M42, 2,977 cc with a turbocharger, an intercooler and a Bosch VP44 rotary pump, was the Canter's three-litre engine from September 2001 to July 2009, rated 92 kW and 294 Nm in Wikipedia's list. The common-rail 4P10, 2,998 cc, took over in 2009. A Philippine review found both in one range, with the FE73 six-wheeler on the 4P10 while the older FE71 four-wheeler still ran the 4M42. The build date and the model code, not the capacity, tell them apart.

The 4P10 is described as a Fiat F1C design bought by Daimler from FPT Industrial, with high-pressure piezo injectors and a turbocharger. Brochure sheets give the same 2,998 cc with 95.8 mm bore, 104 mm stroke and four valves a cylinder, at 110 kW and 370 Nm in New Zealand and 400 Nm in an Australian sheet. Wikipedia lists ratings of 110 to 175 PS in Japan and 130 to 175 PS in Europe, and Fuso's southern Africa FE4-130 was given 96 kW and 300 Nm, which matches the 130 PS step though the article does not name the engine.

The older 4D33 is a 4,214 cc diesel with 108 mm bore and 115 mm stroke, naturally aspirated, with direct injection by an in-line pump. Wikipedia's engine list gives 83 kW and 304 Nm, while its Canter article gives 92 kW for the seventh generation. The 4M50, 4,899 cc with four valves a cylinder, common rail and an intercooled turbo, runs from 103 to 132 kW across its variants. A Japanese exporter's page says 4D33 trucks are popular in East Africa; that is one seller's claim and we treat it only as a reason to ask.

Where do Canters work, and how much do we actually know?

No source we read counts Canters in service in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania or Zimbabwe, and we would rather say so than invent a share. What exists is narrower. Simba Corporation, which its own site and a bank partnership notice describe as Fuso's distributor in Kenya, lists the Canter among its sales, service and parts offerings, and Business Daily's 2025 market table gives Simba Corp 1,134 new vehicles, up from 977, without splitting out the Fuso line.

In Uganda an import agent's page ranks the Canter third among the Japanese models it lists as popular, behind the Hiace and the Land Cruiser Prado and ahead of the Isuzu Elf. That is marketing content and not a census, but it tells us Japanese-market Canters are in the fleet, with Japanese part numbers behind them. Uganda also leaves parts with no compulsory standard outside mandatory pre-shipment inspection and checks consignments up to USD 2,000 FOB on arrival, according to SGS and Bureau Veritas.

Zimbabwe has the firmest datum. Truck & Bus Builder reported on 18 July 2022 that Fuso was delivering 250 Canters to a Harare bakery group, 50 by May and the other 200 over two years, with ZIMOCO, the Daimler Truck Southern Africa distributor for commercial vehicles in Zimbabwe and Zambia, as the local partner. The headline ties the order to assembly in South Africa. A fleet of that size is the kind of buyer a parts list by the dozen suits.

In Tanzania Fuso launched a range for Africa in Dar es Salaam in March 2014: the FA and FI, with the Canter's cab on a Fighter chassis and a 3.9 litre diesel of their own, and heavier models on an Axor chassis. Automotive Fleet's report does not mention Canter parts. Tanzania's inspection for used spare parts from the UAE, set from 21 June 2026 in a TBS notice we have seen only as a summary, concerns parts we do not supply, but ask your clearing agent what a new list needs.

Which new Canter parts can a fleet list carry?

The engine splits the injection list three ways. The 4D33 has an in-line pump, the 4M42 an electronic rotary pump and the 4M50 and 4P10 common-rail injectors, so one request for injection parts becomes up to three different lists. Rebuild kits follow the same split: gasket sets, piston and ring sets, bearings, timing parts and pumps are each quoted against the engine code and not the truck name.

Beyond the engine, a delivery fleet replaces wear parts on a schedule: clutch kits, brake shoes and drums, leaf springs and bushes, and the cab's lamps and mirrors. Weight rating and wheelbase decide most of them. Southern Africa's FE4-130 is described as the smallest Canter, with a gross mass of 4.9 tonnes and a payload of 2.9 tonnes, so a list that mixes light and heavy Canters should say which truck each line is for.

Genuine, OE-brand or quality aftermarket for a Canter?

Three labels cover every Canter line. Genuine is a Fuso-branded part through a UAE distributor, with the lot's invoice where the distributor allows it. OE-brand is a firm that also supplies carmakers, of the kind the trade names as Denso, Aisin, KYB or NGK, sold under its own name. Quality aftermarket is an independent brand made to the Fuso pattern, such as NPW. A quote shows one label, a brand and a number against each line.

We have not measured a Canter ladder in Dubai. On the two Toyota parts we did measure on 3 November 2026, genuine ran about 1.5 times the OE-brand price, 1.7 to 1.9 times quality aftermarket and 4.5 to 6.9 times the budget brands. Treat that as the shape of the gap and not as a Canter price; the figures for your list come from a person.

Zimbabwe shows why a fleet should care. CMED, the government fleet agency, warned on 6 August 2025 that fake vehicle parts and maintenance products were circulating, naming fake brake fluid and silicone sold by backstreet shops, and advised buying only from Motor Industry Association members. A branded line with the number on the part is the check we support, and you should ask for it before you pay.

Japan-built, South African-assembled or export model: which is yours?

A Canter in these four countries can come from several places. Trucks bought through Simba in Kenya or ZIMOCO in Zimbabwe arrive through Fuso's own channel. Trucks that arrive from Japan carry Japanese-market codes. Wikipedia labels its 4D33 figures as the general export Canter, and its plant list runs from Indonesia to Turkey. Each source can mean different engines, cabs and electrics around the same badge, so tell us where the truck came from.

Steering side follows the same split. Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zimbabwe drive on the left, so trucks there are normally right-hand drive, while Gulf-market Canters are left-hand drive. Brake, clutch, suspension and engine parts are quoted by number and engine, and new aftermarket versions are made for right-hand-drive trucks too. Steering boxes, pedal assemblies and dashboard parts belong to one side and are quoted by part number only.

What to send for a Canter quote, and what to check

Send the chassis number and model code from the plate, the engine code stamped on the block, the month and year of build, whether the truck is a four-wheeler or a six-wheeler, its gross weight rating and the country it runs in. A Philippine review separates the FE71 four-wheeler from the FE73 six-wheeler, and the split matters for axles and brakes. A photograph of the old part with its number completes each line.

Check first that the engine code on the quote matches the block, since a 3.0 litre Canter may be a 4M42 or a 4P10. Check that an owner of a Fuso FA or FI has said so, because those trucks share the Canter cab and not its chassis. Last, compare the grade, brand and number on each line with the photograph before you pay, and put the whole fleet's parts on one list; a person confirms how to pay on WhatsApp.

Who you are buying from

  • Easy Auto is a UAE-licensed exporter of new car parts, genuine and aftermarket, quoted from Dubai.
  • A person quotes every export order on WhatsApp, line by line, with each part's grade named: genuine, OE-brand or aftermarket.
  • We quote export orders by the list, at trade quantities, not one or two pieces.
  • New parts only. We do not supply used parts, half-cuts or rebuilt engines.
  • Your own cargo agent or forwarder collects the parts in Dubai and ships them on. We do not ship abroad, book destination inspections or clear customs at your end.
  • Before you pay, ask for photos of the parts with their part numbers in view.

UAE parts shops that export

These shops are here because our record of each one lists exporting, sending parts outside the UAE, among what it offers, and names Mitsubishi among the makes it covers. It is a record of what they told us or published, not a check that they send parts to your country today or of what is on the shelf, and none of them has paid to be here. Ask how the part reaches you, and who handles the export paperwork, before you pay.

Questions buyers ask

Which engine does my Canter have: 4D33, 4M50 or 4P10?
It depends on the build date. Wikipedia places the 4D33 in the fifth to seventh generations, the 4M50 from 2004 and the 4P10 from 2009, with a 4M42 in between. Read the engine code stamped on the block and send it with the chassis number before a person quotes anything.
Is a 3.0 litre Canter always a 4P10?
No. The 4M42 was a three-litre Canter engine from September 2001 to July 2009, and a Philippine review found a 4M42 four-wheeler and a 4P10 six-wheeler in one range. The two use different injection systems, so a kit for one does not fit the other.
What do codes like FE74, FE84 and FE85 mean?
Wikipedia lists them among the codes of the seventh-generation Canter series, FE70 and FE80, and also for trucks sold in Indonesia and the Philippines. They name the series, not the engine. Send the full chassis number and the engine code, because trucks with the same prefix can differ.
Do Fuso FA and FI trucks use Canter parts?
Only in part. Fuso launched the FA and FI in Dar es Salaam in March 2014 with the Canter's cab on a Fighter chassis and a 3.9 litre diesel. Cab parts may match a Canter; chassis and engine parts do not by assumption. Send the model code and a person checks.
Is there a Canter fleet in Zimbabwe?
Truck & Bus Builder reported in July 2022 that Fuso was delivering 250 Canters to a Harare bakery group, with ZIMOCO as the local distributor. We found no national Canter count, so we do not claim one. Fleet operators can send one list covering all their trucks.
Do you export Canter engines?
Only as new parts. What we quote for a 4D33, 4M50 or 4P10 is the rebuild kit: gaskets, pistons and rings, bearings and timing parts, with the oil and water pumps. Used, rebuilt and remanufactured engines are not in our range. The engine code and chassis number set the kit and its grade.
Can I order parts for a single Canter?
Not for one truck alone, because we work at trade quantities. A fleet, a workshop that services many Canters or a trader with a stock list can put everything on one list, and the quote names the grade and brand of every line.
Does a Canter parts order need an inspection certificate?
It depends on the country and on the parts. Uganda leaves parts with no compulsory standard outside mandatory pre-shipment inspection, while Tanzania and Zimbabwe run schemes that cover used spares. Ask your clearing agent, and see the country pages for the rule each buyer meets.
