Chevrolet and GMC parts from Dubai: Tahoe, Silverado, Equinox and Optra
Updated
The quick answer
Trade buyers in Kuwait, Iraq, Azerbaijan and Egypt can send a list of new parts for Chevrolet and GMC vehicles: Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Silverado and Sierra trucks, the Equinox and Terrain, and Egypt's Optra and Aveo. The badge covers different cars in different markets, so each line needs a VIN or a part number. A person quotes on WhatsApp, names the grade, and your own cargo agent collects in Dubai.
Key facts
- The US supplied 16.6% of the USD 338.4 million of vehicle parts Kuwait recorded importing in 2023, second to Japan at 19.1%; Chevrolet was its sixth brand in 2025.
- Wikipedia dates the Tahoe and Yukon K2XX generation to the 2015 to 2020 model years and the T1XX generation from 2021, both with 5.3 and 6.2 litre EcoTec3 V8s.
- The 5.3 litre L83 ran 2014 to 2020 and the L84 with Dynamic Fuel Management from 2019, so a truck from 2019 or 2020 can carry either code.
- In Egypt the Optra was the Baojun 630 from 2014 to 2023 and, from 2024, the Aveo 310C, assembled by GM Egypt at 6 October City.
- Chevrolet took 14.7% of Egypt's 163,199 new cars in 2025, second to Nissan at 16.0%, and the Optra and T-Series pickup were among its top models.
- Our Azerbaijan enquiries have asked for a Chevrolet Trax control unit and Equinox body panels, each matched by VIN.
- Batteries, airbag modules, belt pretensioners, fluids and gas-charged shock absorbers stay out of every export quote as possible dangerous goods.

Which Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon or Silverado do you drive?
Wikipedia dates the fourth-generation Tahoe and Yukon to the 2015 to 2020 model years, built on GM's K2XX platform from January 2014 to December 2019, and the fifth generation to production from May 2020 on the T1XX platform. The Silverado 1500 splits the same way, K2XX for 2014 to 2018 with a 2019 Silverado LD beside it, then T1XX from 2019, and the GMC Sierra follows. A truck from a changeover year needs its VIN read before any panel, lamp or electrical part is quoted.
The Suburban is the long relative of the Tahoe. Wikipedia says it is the same height and width but 15 to 20 inches longer, in its twelfth generation since the 2021 model year, and that GMC sells the equivalent as the Yukon XL. It also says the Suburban is sold in the Middle East except Israel, the Yukon only in North America and the Middle East, so Gulf buyers run these trucks as regional models, not only as imports.
| Model | Generation | Years | Engines named |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tahoe and Yukon | Fourth, K2XX | 2015 to 2020 | 5.3 litre EcoTec3 V8 (L83); 6.2 litre EcoTec3 V8 (L86, later L87) |
| Tahoe and Yukon | Fifth, T1XX | From 2021 | 5.3 litre L84; 6.2 litre L87 on the Yukon Denali and Tahoe High Country; a 3.0 litre Duramax diesel is also listed |
| Silverado and Sierra 1500 | K2XX | 2014 to 2018, plus a 2019 LD | 4.3 litre V6; 5.3 litre L83; 6.2 litre L86 |
| Silverado and Sierra 1500 | T1XX | 2019 to 2026 | 5.3 litre L82 and L84; 6.2 litre L87; 3.0 litre Duramax diesel |
| Suburban and Yukon XL | Twelfth, long body | Since the 2021 model year | L84 is the base 5.3 litre V8, as on the Tahoe and Yukon |
Which 5.3 or 6.2 litre V8 is under your bonnet?
The engine code matters more than the badge. Wikipedia says the Generation IV 5.3 litre engines mostly carried Active Fuel Management, which shuts cylinders off, the LY5 arriving in 2007, the aluminium-block LC9 gaining variable valve timing for the 2010 model year, and only the LH8, LH9 and LMF going without. The Generation V engines, called EcoTec3, use aluminium heads and direct injection throughout, so their fuel, ignition and timing parts do not follow the older list.
From 2014 the new family took over. The 5.3 litre L83 ran 2014 to 2020 at 355 horsepower, and the L84 with Dynamic Fuel Management followed from 2019. The 6.2 litre L86 of 2014 to 2018 made 420 horsepower before the L87 succeeded it in 2019 with the same rating. Wikipedia says the L87 system can switch among 17 firing patterns, so a 6.2 litre truck from 2018 and one from 2020 are two parts lists, and the code decides which.
Wikipedia calls lifter failure a common problem on the AFM-equipped Generation IV V8s of 2005 to 2016, and describes the fix as a parts package plus reprogramming of the engine computer to turn AFM off. We quote the parts, such as lifters, camshafts and gasket sets, against the engine code on your engine. The reprogramming is a workshop job, and a person tells you when a kit must be matched to the VIN.
| Code | Size | Years | What the source says |
|---|---|---|---|
| LY5 | 5.3 litre | Introduced 2007 | Generation IV; replaced the LM7; Active Fuel Management |
| LC9 | 5.3 litre | Generation IV | Aluminium-block flex-fuel version; variable valve timing added for the 2010 model year |
| L83 | 5.3 litre | 2014 to 2020 | EcoTec3; 355 horsepower; direct injection; Active Fuel Management |
| L84 | 5.3 litre | 2019 to 2026 | Dynamic Fuel Management; base engine on the 2021 Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban and Yukon XL |
| L86 | 6.2 litre | 2014 to 2018 | 420 horsepower; Active Fuel Management |
| L87 | 6.2 litre | 2019 to 2026 | Successor to the L86 with the same output; Dynamic Fuel Management |
Where do Tahoes and Silverados run: Kuwait, Iraq, the Gulf?
Kuwait is the clearest trade signal. The United States supplied 16.6% of the vehicle parts Kuwait recorded importing in 2023, second only to Japan at 19.1%, and Chevrolet was the sixth brand among 152,879 new vehicles in 2025. A Kuwait Times report of July 2026 described dealers holding filters and other genuine parts for their own workshops, and damaged-car prices surging as buyers hunted for salvageable parts. A Tahoe or Silverado owner there is competing for scarce genuine lines.
Iraq's customs authority cleared damaged American cars for import in June 2020, and by Rudaw's count about 14,000 American cars arrived in January to July 2025, 594 of them in July against 2,850 in February. No source we found splits those cars by make, so we claim no Chevrolet share. A full-size American truck in Iraq is likely to be a US-built vehicle, and its VIN, not its badge, settles whether a Gulf-market lamp or bumper fits.
Elsewhere in the Gulf the trucks are regional models. Wikipedia says Silverado regular-cab models with the 6.5-foot bed are sold only in Mexico and the Middle East. We hold no sales ranking for these trucks in Saudi Arabia, Qatar or the UAE, so we give none. In the 53 Gulf, Iraq and Levant enquiries on file, body panels (14), interior and trim kits (12) and lighting (11) are asked for most, and a person checks each against the VIN.
Which Equinox or Terrain is it, and what does Baku ask for?
Azerbaijan's Chevrolet and GMC requests to us are crossover requests. They have included a Trax control unit matched by VIN and body panels for an Equinox, and one of the four clear Azerbaijan enquiries on file listed Equinox, Terrain and Trax, wanting ECU, ABS and body parts. Across all 97 clear export enquiries Chevrolet appears six times and GMC twice, so treat this as a pattern to quote against, not a market share.
Wikipedia dates the second-generation Equinox 2010 to 2017, on the Theta platform, with 2.4 litre LAF and LEA fours, a 3.0 litre V6 to 2012 and the 3.6 litre LFX V6 from 2013. The third generation, D2XX, ran 2018 to 2024 with 1.5 and 2.0 litre turbo fours and a 1.6 litre diesel in 2018 and 2019. Plants differ by year: Ingersoll in Ontario, Wuhan in China, and two sites in Mexico. The VIN shows which one built your car.
The GMC Terrain shares the Theta platform with the second-generation Equinox, and Wikipedia says it was sold in the Middle East from 2011. A shared platform is not a shared body: we quote a Terrain panel or lamp by its own number, never by the Equinox number. Engines are separate lists too, since the 2.4 LEA, the 2.0 LTG turbo at 252 horsepower in 2018 to 2020 and the 1.5 turbo each need their own gasket and sensor lines.
| Years | Generation | Engines named | Plants named |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2010 to 2017 | Second Equinox, first Terrain | 2.4 litre LAF then LEA; 3.0 litre V6 to 2012; 3.6 litre LFX V6 from 2013 | Ingersoll for both; the Equinox also at Oshawa and Spring Hill |
| 2018 to 2024 | Third Equinox, second Terrain, D2XX | 1.5 litre turbo LYX then LSD; 2.0 litre turbo LTG to 2020; 1.6 litre diesel LH7 in 2018 and 2019 | Ingersoll to 2022, Wuhan and Mexico for the Equinox; San Luis Potosí for the Terrain |
| 2025 on | Fourth Equinox, third Terrain | 1.5 litre turbo LSD | San Luis Potosí, Wuhan and Kostanay for the Equinox; San Luis Potosí for the Terrain |
What do Egyptians mean by an Optra or an Aveo?
Chevrolet took 14.7% of Egypt's 163,199 new cars in 2025, second to Nissan's 16.0%, and the Optra and the T-Series pickup were among its top models, the pickup at 10.4% of the whole market. Our research notes list the Optra and Aveo as Egyptian staples, and Wikipedia shows why the names need care: the Optra there was a Baojun 630, which debuted in Egypt in 2014 and was assembled by GM Egypt at 6 October City from 2016 to 2023.
From 2024 the Aveo 310C, with a 1.5 litre LAR four, is sold in Egypt as the Optra, according to Wikipedia. Neither car is the Daewoo Lacetti that carries the Optra name in Colombia, Canada, Mexico, Japan, South Africa and Southeast Asia, and neither is the T300 Aveo that Chevrolet sold as the Sonic in the Middle East. So the word Optra alone settles nothing. Send the VIN or the old part's number, and a person says plainly when UAE supply does not carry a line.
Everything else about shipping to Egypt applies to a Chevrolet list as to any other. The ACID number from your importer must be on the documents, the CargoX filing comes before arrival, and VAT is 14%. The Egypt guide sets out those steps in order, and this page does not repeat them.
Genuine, OE-brand or aftermarket for a GM truck or crossover?
Genuine for GM means a General Motors box. ACDelco is an American parts brand owned by General Motors, Wikipedia says, that also sells parts for cars GM did not build, so we name what is in the box on every line instead of assuming a tier. OE-brand means the part maker's own box, where that maker also supplies the carmaker, and quality aftermarket means an independent brand. A person confirms which one a part number is.
We have measured no Dubai price ladder for GM parts. The ladders we hold are for Toyota parts and one Land Rover filter, and borrowing a ratio from them would be a guess, so a Chevrolet or GMC quote sets each grade's price line by line instead. Our notes read Kuwait's buyers as leaning to genuine, and Kuwait's conformity list has carried brake pads, batteries and oil filters since 18 September 2011, so those lines need the distributor's paperwork ready for your broker.
Filters are where fakes concentrate. Al-Futtaim seized about AED 7.46 million of counterfeit parts in the UAE in 2024, AED 2.81 million of it oil filters. For a V8 truck, whose filters are fitted in volume, that is the line on which to ask for the distributor invoice and photographs of the box and the number before you pay.
Some lines stay out of an export quote whatever the grade. Batteries, airbag modules, belt pretensioners, fluids, aerosols and gas-charged shock absorbers can be treated as dangerous goods by carriers. For a Tahoe or Silverado that leaves springs, bushes, links, arms, ball joints and the rest of the suspension, plus brakes, cooling, ignition, gasket sets and filters.
What to send for a quote, and what to check before you pay
Send one line per part with the 17-character VIN, the part number from the old part or a photograph of it, the engine code, the quantity and the grade. For a V8 truck say whether it is two- or four-wheel drive and its build month. For an Equinox or Terrain give the engine size and the year. For an Egyptian Optra or Aveo the VIN is the only dependable key, since the name covers several cars.
Before paying, match the full number on the box to your list and the brand on the box to the brand on your quote line. A Gulf-market and a US-market version of one model can differ in lamps, emissions and electrical parts, so the VIN is checked for those lines. Electronic parts are quoted by VIN and part number only, and our ECU page explains why.
Each destination adds a step your broker handles. Kuwait lets only Kuwaiti importers or registered Kuwait-based brokers clear goods. Iraq asks for a certificate of conformity on regulated spare parts. Azerbaijan orders are screened for end use, as on our Azerbaijan guide, and nothing is quoted for a route through Iran. Egypt needs the ACID number first.

UAE parts shops that export
These shops are here because our record of each one lists exporting, sending parts outside the UAE, among what it offers, and names Chevrolet among the makes it covers. It is a record of what they told us or published, not a check that they send parts to your country today or of what is on the shelf, and none of them has paid to be here. Ask how the part reaches you, and who handles the export paperwork, before you pay.

Questions buyers ask
- Do Tahoe, Yukon and Suburban parts interchange?
- Some do and some do not, and the VIN decides. Wikipedia describes the Suburban as the same height and width as the Tahoe but 15 to 20 inches longer, with GMC selling the equivalent as the Yukon XL. Body, trim and some electrical parts differ by model and year. Send the VIN and the part number and a person checks each line before quoting.
- How do I tell an L83 from an L84 5.3 litre V8?
- By the engine code and the year. Wikipedia lists the L83 for 2014 to 2020 with Active Fuel Management and the L84 from 2019 with Dynamic Fuel Management, so a Silverado from 2019 or 2020 could carry either. Read the code on the engine label or send the VIN, and the quote lists the lifters, sensors and gaskets for that engine.
- Does the lifter problem on AFM engines affect my truck?
- Wikipedia calls lifter failure a common problem on the AFM-equipped Generation IV V8s of 2005 to 2016, fixed with a parts package and engine-computer reprogramming. It does not say the same of the Generation V engines. We quote lifters, camshafts and gasket sets by engine code, and the reprogramming is a workshop job.
- Is a GMC Terrain part the same as an Equinox part?
- Not by assumption. The Terrain shares the Theta platform with the second-generation Equinox, but a shared platform does not make panels, lamps or trim identical. We quote the Terrain line by its own number and check it against your VIN. Engine parts can overlap, so send the engine size and year with the request.
- What car is a Chevrolet Optra in Egypt?
- Wikipedia says it was the Baojun 630 from 2014 to 2023, assembled by GM Egypt, and that the Aveo 310C has been sold there as the Optra from 2024. It is not the Daewoo Lacetti sold under that name elsewhere. Send the VIN, and a person says plainly if UAE supply does not carry a line.
- Can I order parts for a US-built Silverado in Iraq?
- Yes, by VIN. Damaged American cars were cleared for import into Iraq from June 2020, so US-built trucks are on its roads, and a US-market truck can differ from the Gulf version in lamps and emissions parts. Regulated spare parts need an Iraqi certificate of conformity, and your agent collects in Dubai.
- Do you supply used Chevrolet parts, half-cuts or engines?
- No. We do not supply half-cuts, engines or anything taken off a car or rebuilt. Our range is new genuine, OE-brand and quality aftermarket parts. For a worn V8 we quote the new gasket sets, bearings, timing parts and pumps that match its engine code.
- How big must a Chevrolet or GMC order be?
- The desk prices lists, not single pieces, because export here is a trade-quantity business. Put every Chevrolet and GMC part you need into one message, with a quantity beside each line, whatever the models. If the list is too small to quote, a person says so on WhatsApp; otherwise each line comes back with its grade.
