1GD-FTV and 2GD-FTV parts from Dubai: injectors, DPF and chain kits
Updated
The quick answer
We quote new parts for Toyota's 2.8 litre 1GD-FTV and 2.4 litre 2GD-FTV diesels, the engines in the current Hilux, Fortuner, Prado J150 and Hiace. A list can cover the timing chain kit, injectors, EGR and DPF-side parts, turbo parts and gasket sets, each line named by grade. A person quotes on WhatsApp and confirms how to pay there, and your cargo agent collects in Dubai. Send the engine code, the VIN and the build month.
Key facts
- Toyota's release of 19 June 2015 gives the 1GD-FTV as 2,754 cc and the 2GD-FTV as 2,393 cc, both at a 15.6 to 1 compression ratio.
- A Toyota enthusiasts' FAQ describes a two-stage timing chain for the GD family, so a belt kit from the older KD diesels will not fit.
- The same FAQ says GD injectors are Denso solenoid units, each with a QR code holding an individual fuel correction that is programmed into the engine computer.
- Wikipedia lists 150 kW for the 1GD-FTV from 2020, up from 130 kW at launch, so the build month can change which turbo and exhaust parts match.
- Toyota Australia extended DPF cover to ten years on certain Hilux, Fortuner and Prado models, filter and fifth injector included, and said it was not a recall.
- Toyota UAE lists a 2.8 litre diesel for the Hiace but only 2.7 and 4.0 litre engines for the Hilux, so check the code on a Gulf Hilux.

Which GD diesel does your Hilux, Fortuner, Prado or Hiace carry?
Toyota announced the GD family on 19 June 2015 as the replacement for its KD diesels. The 1GD-FTV is a 2.8 litre of 2,754 cc, 92 mm by 103.6 mm, rated 130 kW and 450 Nm at launch. The 2GD-FTV is a 2.4 litre of 2,393 cc, 92 mm by 90 mm, rated 110 kW and 400 Nm. Both are direct-injection common-rail turbo diesels, and Toyota added that specifications vary according to market.
Output rose later. Wikipedia lists 150 kW for the 1GD-FTV from 2020, with 500 Nm on automatics, so trucks built before and after that change can carry different parts. Toyota also described the 2015 turbocharger as a compact variable-geometry unit made in-house, and introduced its first urea SCR system with the family. We therefore ask for the build month with every GD request and match turbo, injector and exhaust-side parts to it.
| Detail | 1GD-FTV | 2GD-FTV |
|---|---|---|
| Displacement | 2,754 cc | 2,393 cc |
| Bore and stroke | 92 mm by 103.6 mm | 92 mm by 90 mm |
| Output at 3,400 rpm | 130 kW (177 PS) | 110 kW (150 PS) |
| Peak torque | 450 Nm at 1,600 to 2,400 rpm | 400 Nm at 1,600 to 2,000 rpm |
| Compression ratio | 15.6 to 1 | 15.6 to 1 |
Which vehicles carry the GD engines, and where do they work?
Wikipedia lists the Hilux, Fortuner, Land Cruiser Prado J150 and HiAce H200 among the GD vehicles, with the Land Cruiser 70 added in 2023. Toyota South Africa's Land Cruiser 79 page presents the 2.8 litre GD as its debut in the 70 Series, and Toyota UAE lists a 2.8 litre diesel in its Hiace range beside 2.7 and 3.5 litre petrols. Its Hilux page lists only a 2.7 and a 4.0, so a GD Hilux in the Gulf needs its code checked.
These are the newer trucks. An extract of a sales-statistics blog, which we saw only in part, puts the Hilux and Land Cruiser 70 at about half of Uganda's 2025 new-vehicle sales; Saudi Arabia's 2025 sales were led by the Accent, Yaris, Camry and Hilux, and Iraq's best seller of 2024 was the Hilux. None of those figures names an engine, so we do not claim which Hilux is a GD; the code on the block settles it.
| Vehicle | Years | Engine named |
|---|---|---|
| Hilux AN120 and AN130 | 2015 to present | 1GD-FTV and 2GD-FTV |
| Hilux AN220 and AN230 | 2025 to present | 1GD-FTV |
| Fortuner AN150 | 2015 to present | 1GD-FTV and 2GD-FTV |
| Land Cruiser Prado J150 | 2015 to 2023 | 1GD-FTV |
| HiAce H200 | 2018 to present | 1GD-FTV |
| Land Cruiser 70 | 2023 to present | 1GD-FTV |
What does the timing chain on a GD diesel involve?
A Toyota enthusiasts' technical FAQ on the GD diesels describes a two-stage chain drive. A primary roller chain of 9.525 mm pitch runs from the crankshaft to the fuel pump shaft, and a secondary chain of 8.0 mm pitch runs to the camshafts, held by a spring-loaded hydraulic tensioner with a ratchet. The FAQ gives no replacement interval and neither does Toyota's release, so we name none.
For an order, that means a chain kit is more than one chain: two chains, sprockets, guides and the tensioner, and the set that fits depends on the engine and its build date. A KD belt kit is a different family and will not fit. Send the VIN and the engine code, and say if the water pump should be quoted with it; the FAQ describes the GD water pump and fan as belt driven.
Why does a GD injector order need the injector's own code?
The FAQ says the GD common rail uses Denso components at 35 to 220 MPa, rising to 250 MPa on the 2020 type. Its injectors are solenoid units, and each carries a QR code holding its model code and an individual fuel correction that must be programmed into the engine computer. That makes the code part of the order, so we ask for the number and code on the old unit, and you can ask for a photograph of the new unit's code beside its part number.
The FAQ also lists Toyota service bulletins for abnormal injector spray caused by corrosion or deposits, and for clogged injector orifices that set fault codes P2463 and P2458, each fixed with new injectors and recalibration. It lists glow plug failure codes too, and a recall of Prado, Hiace and Regius Ace built from March to June 2019 over the torque on the fuel line between the high-pressure pump and the rail. Treat these as one club's summary of bulletins, not as Toyota's own words.
What do the DPF and EGR parts mean for an order from abroad?
Whether your GD truck has a diesel particulate filter depends on its market and year. Where one is fitted, the FAQ describes an exhaust-side fuel injector that raises the filter to about 600 to 700 degrees Celsius during active regeneration. Toyota Australia extended its DPF warranty to ten years with no kilometre limit on certain Hilux, Fortuner and Prado models, including the filter and the fifth injector, and said the action was not a recall.
That Australian action marks two lines Toyota itself has covered: the filter and the regeneration injector. Toyota's letter described white smoke during regeneration, a warning lamp and in some cases limp-home mode as the symptoms. The FAQ also lists a bulletin for coolant loss from a leaking EGR cooler, with internal fatigue cracks and possible overheating. For a quote on any of these, send the VIN, the build month and a photograph of the part with its number.
Genuine, OE-brand or aftermarket for a young GD truck?
A GD truck is at most about a decade old, and our research expects fleet buyers in Zimbabwe, such as members of the government fleet agency CMED and the motor industry body MIAZ, to lean to genuine parts, with quality aftermarket leading for price-led workshops. We therefore quote a GD line in up to three grades and name each: Toyota genuine, an OE-brand maker such as Denso for injectors, or quality aftermarket. In the one OE-brand pair we measured in Dubai on 3 November 2026, the OE-brand part cost about two-thirds of genuine.
Filters need the most care. Al-Futtaim reported seizing counterfeit parts worth AED 7.46M in 2024, of which AED 2.81M were oil filters, so a distributor invoice for the lot matters most on a genuine filter order, and you should ask for one with the quote. The same logic applies to an injector: ask for photographs of the box, the part number and the QR code before you pay.
What to send for a GD quote
Send the engine code, 1GD-FTV or 2GD-FTV, the full 17-character VIN, the build month and year, and the country. For injectors send the QR code and part number from the old unit; for exhaust-side parts say whether the truck has a particulate filter and a urea tank. A photograph of the engine plate and of the part saves a round of questions.
Put every line in one message. Each comes back quoted at trade quantities with its grade and brand named. Fluids stay out of every export quote, which includes engine oil, coolant and the urea solution, and we leave out any line we cannot match to your VIN.

UAE parts shops that export
These shops are here because our record of each one lists exporting, sending parts outside the UAE, among what it offers, and names Toyota among the makes it covers. It is a record of what they told us or published, not a check that they send parts to your country today or of what is on the shelf, and none of them has paid to be here. Ask how the part reaches you, and who handles the export paperwork, before you pay.

Questions buyers ask
- Is the Hilux 2.8 a 1GD-FTV and the 2.4 a 2GD-FTV?
- Yes. Toyota's release of 19 June 2015 gives the 1GD-FTV as 2,754 cc, the 2.8 litre, and the 2GD-FTV as 2,393 cc, the 2.4 litre. Toyota South Africa lists both sizes on the Hilux Double Cab as GD-6 engines. Send the code on the block anyway, since specifications vary according to market.
- Do GD diesels have a timing belt?
- No. A Toyota enthusiasts' FAQ describes a two-stage chain drive for the GD family, and Wikipedia lists chain drive for the 1GD-FTV. A belt kit from the older KD diesels will not fit. Give us the engine code and VIN, and a person quotes the chain, sprockets, guides and tensioner that match.
- Why do you ask for the injector code?
- The FAQ describes a QR code on each GD injector carrying its model code and an individual fuel correction, programmed into the engine computer. A new injector therefore needs its own code recorded. We ask for the old unit's number and code, and you can ask for a photograph of the new unit's code beside its part number.
- Does my GD truck have a DPF or an exhaust injector?
- It depends on the market and the year, because Toyota says specifications vary according to market. Look for an exhaust-side filter and a urea tank, or send the VIN and a photograph from under the truck. A person checks before quoting any filter, sensor or exhaust-injector part.
- Does a Fortuner use the same GD parts as a Hilux?
- Toyota described the Fortuner as Hilux-based in July 2015, and both carry GD diesels, but that does not make every part interchangeable. Send the part number or the VIN, and a person checks what matches before a quote is given.
- Can I order GD parts for a Prado 150?
- Wikipedia lists the 1GD-FTV in the Land Cruiser Prado J150 from 2015 to 2023, but the J150 was also sold with petrol engines, so the code decides. Send the engine code and the VIN, and a person quotes the GD lines that match.
- Can I buy a whole GD engine from you?
- No. Our export lines are new parts, so we supply no whole engines, whether used, rebuilt or cut from a donor vehicle. For a GD service or overhaul we quote the new parts by the list: chain kits, injectors, turbo and exhaust-side parts, gasket sets, pistons and bearings.
