Using your own cargo agent to collect car parts in Dubai
Updated
The quick answer
Your own cargo agent or forwarder collects the packed order in Dubai, adds it to other cargo if it is small, files the export declaration, books air, sea or road freight and clears the goods at home. Easy Auto quotes the list on WhatsApp, packs to your agent's instructions and hands over in Dubai. It does not ship abroad, book freight or promise transit times, and the freight ranges below are third-party guides.
Key facts
- Consolidator air rate cards we read start their per-kilogram bands at 30 kg, so a small parcel is cheaper inside a shared box.
- A courier's 2026 UAE rate guide works volumetric weight as length times width times height in centimetres, divided by 5,000; carriers bill the higher of real and volumetric weight.
- An undated forwarder guide gives part-load sea freight as USD 45 to 120 per cubic metre, USD 200 to 400 minimum, and says air suits loads under 100 kg.
- The consolidator rate cards we read exclude duty and tax at the destination, which the importer pays.
- Container traffic through the Strait of Hormuz was reported near a standstill in early September 2026; its status in November is not known to us.
- Wet and lithium batteries, airbag modules, gas-charged shocks and fluids are dangerous goods by air; ask your agent whether it handles them before you order any.
- Easy Auto packs to your agent's instructions and hands over in Dubai; it does not book freight, clear customs or deliver abroad.

What do you give your cargo agent before collection?
Your agent needs the papers the destination's customs will read, plus a few practical details. From us that is the quote naming the grade and brand of each line, the commercial invoice with an HS code per line and a packing list giving the number of cartons, gross and net weights, dimensions and shipping marks. From you it is the importer's registered name and address, the destination port, airport or border post, and any import number your country asks for.
Agree the handover before collection day. The person quoting gives the collection address and time on WhatsApp, and your agent says how it wants the goods boxed and marked, on pallets, in cartons or strapped, and who will sign for them. Packing is where weight and volume are won or lost, so ask the agent for its packing rules in writing while the list is still being quoted, not after the cartons are sealed.
| Item | Comes from | Why your agent asks for it |
|---|---|---|
| Quote with grade and brand on each line | Easy Auto | To match the cartons to the lines you bought |
| Commercial invoice with HS codes | Easy Auto | To file the declaration and to set duty at the destination |
| Packing list: cartons, weights, dimensions, marks | Easy Auto | To book space and work out the chargeable weight |
| Importer's name, address and registration or tax number | You | To name the consignee on the transport document |
| Destination port, airport or border post | You or your agent | To choose the route and the carrier |
| Import numbers such as Egypt's ACID | Your importer | Because shipping documents are rejected without it |
| Packing and marking instructions | Your agent | So the cartons meet the carrier's and consolidator's rules |
How do lines from several suppliers become one shipment?
A list quoted by Easy Auto may be filled from more than one UAE source, and the person quoting tells you for each line where it comes from and whether the lines can be handed over at one address or several. Nothing in a quote promises a single pile of cartons at one place. The point where lines from different sources become one shipment is your agent's warehouse, where each carton is checked against the packing list, weighed, measured and loaded onto a pallet or into a shared box.
Small orders are usually combined with other buyers' cargo, which the trade calls groupage. Our September 2026 freight research read the per-kilogram cards that Deira consolidators publish as starting at 30 kg, so a single 12 kg alternator pays for 30 kg unless it rides in a shared box. That is the economic reason a list of many parts suits this route better than one part, and it is why Easy Auto quotes lists, not one or two pieces.
Consolidation can carry its own paperwork. Zimbabwe's conformity rule, for example, has a separate route for a consolidated container, assessed at 0.65% of that container's FOB value against 0.50% on general goods under Route A, with the consolidator paying. Ask your agent whether the shared box it plans for you changes which certificate your importer needs, and pass that answer to the person quoting before the goods are boxed.
Air, sea or road: what published guides say, and what they omit
Easy Auto publishes no freight price and books no freight. The figures in the table are third-party guide ranges, taken from agents' own pages and a courier's rate guide, and they are not quotes, offers or promises. The consolidator cards state that duty and tax at the destination are excluded, and none of the figures is a price for your list. Your agent's written quote is the only number that counts.
One Dubai forwarder's guide, undated, says air becomes more cost-effective for shipments under 100 kg and sea gives better value above 500 kg. Between the two the agent weighs the minimum charge: the same guide puts part-load sea freight at USD 45 to 120 per cubic metre with a minimum of USD 200 to 400, so a small order can cost more by sea than the same cartons in a shared air box.
Road is the usual Gulf route, and we found no published per-kilogram or per-pallet road rate from Dubai to the Gulf states, so ask your agent for a written figure. Reports in 2026 describe trucking through Saudi Arabia as a working route while container shipping through the Strait of Hormuz was disrupted, and sea transits were still reported near a standstill in early September. We do not know the November position, so confirm which ports and routes your agent is using. A route through Iran is not one we can supply, whatever is proposed.

| Air, Dubai to East, West and Southern Africa, 100 kg and above | USD 3.50 to 5.50, USD 4.50 to 6.50 and USD 4.00 to 6.00 per kg | A Dubai forwarder's undated blog guide |

| Sea, part load | USD 45 to 120 per cubic metre with a USD 200 to 400 minimum; USD 80 to 120 per cubic metre to Mombasa | The undated forwarder guide and the 27 February 2026 guide |
| Sea, full container to Africa | 20 ft USD 800 to 2,500 and 40 ft USD 1,200 to 3,800; to Mombasa 20 ft USD 1,200 to 1,800 and 40 ft USD 2,100 to 2,900 | The same two guides |
| Road, Dubai to the Gulf states | No published per-kg or per-pallet rate found | Ask your agent |
What is volumetric weight, and why does it change the bill?
Carriers bill the greater of the real weight and the volumetric weight. One courier's 2026 UAE rate guide works the volumetric figure out as length times width times height in centimetres, divided by 5,000, for each piece; other carriers use other divisors, so ask your agent which one applies. Sea freight is charged by the cubic metre instead, which is length times width times height in metres.
Light, bulky parts suffer most. A bumper cover or a set of panels fills a large box and weighs little, so the volume sets the charge, while a carton of brake pads or filters is dense, so the scale does. The same courier guide adds surcharges of AED 87 for a piece whose longest side passes 100 cm or whose second side passes 80 cm, AED 430 for a piece over 70 kg and AED 1,300 for a pallet that cannot be stacked. They are one courier's 2026 figures, shown only to illustrate how size adds cost.
Packing is how you control it. Ask your agent for its divisor and its minimum chargeable weight, then tell the person quoting the carton sizes the agent prefers. Easy Auto packs to those instructions, and a list of many parts lets dense and bulky lines share a pallet, which a single part cannot do.
| Example box | Size in cm | Real weight | Volumetric weight | Billed on |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Front bumper cover | 150 x 60 x 40 | 8 kg | 72 kg | Volumetric weight |
| Pair of headlamps in a box | 60 x 40 x 40 | 6 kg | 19.2 kg | Volumetric weight |
| Carton of 20 brake pad sets | 40 x 30 x 25 | 24 kg | 6 kg | Real weight |
What does your agent do, and what does Easy Auto do?
The agent owns everything after the handover: consolidation, the export declaration, the booking, insurance, the carrier, transit and clearance at home. Easy Auto owns the quote, the grade and brand named on each line, the invoice and packing list, and the packing and handover in Dubai. Keeping the two lists apart protects you, because each side answers for its own steps.
Easy Auto does not ship abroad, deliver abroad, clear customs, book freight or promise transit times, and a person confirms how to pay on WhatsApp. Freight, duty and clearance are not part of an Easy Auto quote, which covers the parts; the importer deals with those at home through the agent and customs.
| Step | Easy Auto | Your cargo agent |
|---|---|---|
| Quote and grades | Quotes each line with its grade and brand | Reviews the quote against your order |
| Packing | Packs to your agent's instructions | Writes the instructions: cartons, pallets, marks |
| Handover | Hands over in Dubai at the address a person gives | Collects and checks cartons against the packing list |
| Consolidation | None | Adds the cartons to other cargo or a container |
| Export declaration | Supplies the invoice and packing list | Its broker files, and the exit proof comes back to us |
| Freight booking | None | Chooses air, sea or road and books it |
| Customs and duty at home | None | Clears the goods; the importer pays duty and tax |
| Payment for the parts | A person confirms how to pay on WhatsApp | The agent's own charges are settled with the agent |
Which questions should you ask your agent first?
Ask for the quote in writing with its exclusions: the minimum chargeable weight, the divisor, handling and documentation fees, insurance, and what happens if the cargo is delayed. Ask whether the agent combines your cartons with other buyers' cargo or books a container for you alone, which port or border it is using given the 2026 Strait of Hormuz disruption, and who files the export declaration and returns the exit certificate.
Ask about dangerous goods before you order. Wet batteries, lithium batteries, airbag modules, gas-charged shock absorbers and fluids are dangerous goods for air, and carriers require approved shippers. One consolidator's page for Nigeria-bound air cargo refuses car parts above 15 kg and parts that contain fluid. If your list includes any of these lines, tell the person quoting, so they can be left off an air quote or moved to a carrier that accepts them.

UAE parts shops that export
These shops are here because our record of each one lists exporting, sending parts outside the UAE, among what it offers. It is a record of what they told us or published, not a check that they send parts to your country today or of what is on the shelf, and none of them has paid to be here. Ask how the part reaches you, and who handles the export paperwork, before you pay.

Questions buyers ask
- Can Easy Auto ship my car parts to my country?
- No. Easy Auto does not ship or deliver abroad, clear customs or book freight. A person quotes your list on WhatsApp, packs it to your agent's instructions and hands it over in Dubai, where your own cargo agent or forwarder collects it and arranges the journey, the export declaration and clearance at home.
- What does a cargo agent actually do for car parts in Dubai?
- It collects your goods, checks them against the packing list, combines them with other cargo or a container, has its broker file the export declaration, books air, sea or road transport and usually helps with clearance at home. Fees, minimum weights and routes are set by the agent, so get them in writing before collection.
- Can parts from different suppliers travel in one shipment?
- Yes, through your agent. A list quoted from several UAE sources may be handed over at more than one address, and the person quoting tells you which line comes from where. Your agent's warehouse is where cartons are checked, weighed and combined, with one invoice and one packing list covering the lines.
- Is air or sea cheaper for car parts from Dubai?
- It depends on weight. One forwarder's guide says air suits shipments under 100 kg and sea suits shipments over 500 kg, and a sea minimum charge of USD 200 to 400 can erase the saving on small orders. These are third-party guide figures, not our prices, so ask your agent to quote both modes for your list.
- What is volumetric weight and how do I work it out?
- It is the weight a carrier bills a box for by its size. Multiply length, width and height in centimetres and divide by 5,000, the divisor in the courier guide we read: a 150 x 60 x 40 cm bumper box comes to 72 kg whatever it weighs. Carriers bill the greater of real and volumetric weight, and divisors differ, so ask your agent.
- Who pays the duty and tax on parts collected in Dubai?
- The importer pays at the destination, because the sale is made for collection in Dubai and the buyer is the importer of record. The consolidator rate cards we read exclude destination duty and tax. An Easy Auto quote covers the parts, not freight, duty or clearance, and your clearing agent tells you the amount at home.
- Can batteries, airbags or filled units go by air from Dubai?
- Only through a carrier approved for dangerous goods. Wet and lithium batteries, airbag modules, gas-charged shocks, fluids and aerosols are treated as dangerous goods by air, and shippers need training. Tell the person quoting and your agent before you order any of them, so each line is quoted for a route that accepts it.
