New engine rebuild parts from Dubai: gaskets, pistons, bearings, timing kits
Updated
The quick answer
We quote new rebuild parts for the diesel and petrol engines that export markets keep running: gasket sets, pistons and rings, bearings, timing kits, oil and water pumps, valve parts and injector parts. Each line names its grade and brand. Send the engine code, the number stamped on the engine and the oversize your machine shop cut, and a person quotes the list on WhatsApp. We do not supply complete engines, half-cuts or rebuilt units.
Key facts
- The UAE reported US$479.5M of diesel engine parts and US$219.0M of petrol engine parts exported in 2023, its latest year in UN Comtrade; the figures include re-exports.
- Taiho's history page says Toyota's orders led it to begin making engine slide bearings in 1961.
- Taiho's aftermarket page warns of imitation bearings carrying its trademark, after thousands were seized at a factory in China in July 2004.
- On Dubai counters on 3 November 2026, the Toyota water pump for the 1GR-FE V6 listed at AED 397, and two aftermarket pumps at AED 214 and AED 229.
- Piston and ring sets are listed in steps over standard: 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1.00 mm in metric listings, and .020, .030 and .040 inch in some others.
- Mauritius prohibits second-hand injector nozzles, oil seals, bearings and engine mountings among 18 groups of used parts, so rebuild parts go in new.
- US export controls for Russia and Belarus list every engine-part and bearing heading; we do not supply those destinations.

Why do buyers abroad rebuild an engine instead of replacing it?
The fleets are commercial and long-lived, which is what makes an old engine worth restoring. Business Daily reported Isuzu at 47.8% of Kenyan new-vehicle sales in 2025, and a car-sales blog put the Hilux and Land Cruiser 70 together at 49.7% of Ugandan sales the same year. Trucks and pickups like these are kept on the road for years, and a workshop that can machine the block and head would rather renew what wears than fit a different engine.
In our own notes the best-defined trade basket for Kenya and Uganda is the engine kit for Isuzu 4HK1 and 4JJ1 trucks, listed beside clutches, brake drums and injectors. That is our reading of the trade and not a measured share. It fits the export requests we receive from East Africa, where engine internals and fuel-injection parts are among the most requested lines.
The UAE-reported figures show the scale of the flow without telling us our part of it. UN Comtrade's 2023 data, the latest the UAE has filed, record US$479.5M of diesel engine parts and US$219.0M of petrol engine parts leaving the UAE, re-exports included. Comtrade does not separate new from second-hand, so treat these as the size of the market and nothing more.
What goes into an engine rebuild order, group by group?
A rebuild order is rarely one part. The head gasket and the bearings go in together because the engine is already open, and the timing set and water pump are renewed for the same reason. Quoted as one list, every line is checked against the same engine code, so the pieces fit each other as well as the engine.
We quote new injectors and new injector parts, new pumps and new bearings. We do not quote rebuilt or remanufactured injectors, pumps, turbochargers or short blocks, and we do not supply complete engines or half-cuts. Those are outside what we export, and a line that cannot be quoted new is left off the list.
| Group | What it holds | How it is listed |
|---|---|---|
| Gasket and seal sets | Head gasket, valve cover and manifold gaskets, sump gasket, crankshaft and camshaft seals | Top-end set or full overhaul set |
| Pistons and rings | Pistons, gudgeon pins, retaining clips and ring sets | Standard or oversize, by bore |
| Bearings | Main bearings, connecting-rod bearings, thrust washers, camshaft bearings | Standard or undersize, by journal |
| Timing parts | Chain or belt, tensioner, guides, idlers and gears | One kit per engine code |
| Pumps | Oil pump and water pump | Single parts, often with the timing kit |
| Valve train | Valves, guides, springs, stem seals and lifters | By cylinder or by engine |
| Injector parts | Nozzles, seals, washers and new injectors | By injector number |
Genuine, OE-brand or aftermarket: which suits an engine rebuild?
Genuine is the carmaker's own part in the carmaker's box. OE-brand is a part from a maker that also supplies the carmaker, sold under its own name. Denso and Aisin are examples: Wikipedia describes both as Toyota Group companies, and says Denso drew 44% of its revenue from other carmakers in the year to March 2016. Quality aftermarket covers other reputable makes. We name the brand and the grade on every line.
Taiho shows how the middle grade works for engines. Its own history page says orders from Toyota led it to begin making engine slide bearings in 1961. Riken piston rings, now part of NPR-RIKEN, are catalogued by engine model, displacement, cylinders and OEM reference. A brand name never settles the grade by itself, so we check each maker's relationship to the carmaker before a line is called OE-brand.
The one engine part in our November price check is the water pump for the 1GR-FE V6, Toyota number 16100-39456. A Dubai parts site listed the Toyota pump at AED 397, NPW at AED 214 and GMB at AED 229 on 3 November 2026, all with 5% VAT included. The aftermarket pumps cost 0.54 and 0.58 of the Toyota price. That is one part on one day and a counter price, not a quote, but it shows the size of the gap.
Bearings, rings and gaskets close up inside the engine, so a wrong or fake part is found only after the work is done. That is a reason to pay for a named brand where the saving is small, and a reason to take quality aftermarket where it is large. A mixed order is normal: OE-brand bearings beside an aftermarket gasket set, each line carrying its own grade.
Are fake bearings a real risk when rebuilding an engine?
Taiho says so in its own words. Its aftermarket page has a section on fighting fake manufacture, which records that thousands of imitation bearings carrying Taiho's licensed trademark were seized after an investigation at a factory in China on 20 July 2004. The page warns that fake bearings damage the engine and tells buyers not to buy, sell or use them. It also announces a new label from 2020, so a photo of the label is worth asking for.
The UAE has its own record. A trade report dated 16 December 2024 says Al-Futtaim Automotive's raids that year took more than 2.5 million fake components worth nearly AED 7.46 million, of which AED 2.81 million were oil filters. The report does not itemise engine parts, so it shows the scale of the trade and not the share of bearings or rings.
Our protection is the grade written on each line and your own check before you pay. Ask for a photo of the box label and of any number printed or stamped on each ring set, bearing shell or gasket set, and compare it with the number on the quote. A part that arrives without the number you were quoted is a reason to stop and ask, not to fit it.
What do you send for an exact rebuild quote?
Start with the engine code and the number stamped on the engine, then the chassis number or VIN of the vehicle. The code names the family and the stamped number points to the exact build. A code alone is not enough: Toyota's June 2015 release gives the 1GD-FTV as 2,754 cc and the 2GD-FTV as 2,393 cc, and says specifications vary according to market.
Then send the sizes your machine shop cut. Piston and ring sets are sold in steps over the standard bore. Metric listings step by 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1.00 mm, and some brands list inch sizes of .020, .030 and .040. A standard bore of 80.00 mm cut to 80.50 mm, for example, takes the set listed at +0.50 mm. Name the unit you are measuring in, because the same number means a different part in each.
Bearings follow the crankshaft and not the bore. After the journals are ground, the set is chosen by the new journal size, and retail listings of Taiho bearings carry the size in the product name, with STD meaning standard. Send the journal sizes your shop recorded, the number of cylinders, and a photo of any old shell showing its markings. Add the country you are buying for and the grade you want on each line.
Which engines do export buyers rebuild, and where are the pages?
Each family below has its own page covering the parts a rebuild needs and the vehicles that carry it. Use them for the code detail; this page covers what is common to every rebuild. An engine's internals do not change with the steering side of the vehicle, so the engine code does the matching, not the market the vehicle drives in.
Our notes flag Toyota 1GD, 2GD, 1KD, 2KD, 2TR, 1GR, 1VD and 1HZ, Nissan YD25 and QR25, Isuzu 4JJ1 and Mitsubishi 4D56 and 4N15 as families shared between Gulf-market and right-hand-drive versions. The engine-code mapping behind that list was not confirmed from a maker catalogue, so every quote is checked against the chassis number or VIN before it goes out.
| Engine family | Vehicles named | Fuel and size |
|---|---|---|
| 1KD-FTV and 2KD-FTV | Hilux, Land Cruiser Prado, Hiace | Diesel, 3.0 and 2.5 litre |
| 1GD-FTV and 2GD-FTV | Hilux, Fortuner, Hiace | Diesel, 2.8 and 2.4 litre |
| 1HZ and 1VD-FTV | Land Cruiser 70 series and Land Cruiser 200 | Diesel; the 1VD-FTV is a 4.5 litre V8 |
| 2TR-FE and 1GR-FE | Hilux, Prado, Hiace | Petrol, 2.7 litre four and 4.0 litre V6 |
| 3UR-FE | Gulf-market Toyota V8 models | Petrol, 5.7 litre V8 |
| 4JJ1 and 4HK1 | Isuzu D-Max and Isuzu N-series trucks | Diesel |
| 1NZ-FE and 2NZ-FE | Small Toyota cars such as the Probox, Fielder and Yaris | Petrol |
Which country rules touch engine rebuild parts?
Rules for second-hand parts are the reason many buyers order new. Mauritius's import regulations prohibit second-hand injector nozzles, oil seals, bearings and engine mountings, among 18 groups. Zimbabwe's CBCA programme is written for used vehicles and used spare parts, with a fee of 0.5% of value, a $245 minimum and a 12% CIF penalty without the certificate. Tanzania's TBS notice sets a pre-shipment inspection for used parts from the UAE. A new consignment sits outside all three, and your clearing agent confirms what applies.
Sanctions law touches engines too. The US list for Russia and Belarus names all of HS 8407, 8408 and 8409 and every 8482 bearing heading, and the UK's high-priority list names ball and roller bearings. We do not supply Russia, Belarus or any other refused destination, and we do not quote engine parts for onward shipment to them. A person asks where the engine runs before a list is quoted.

UAE parts shops that export
These shops are here because our record of each one lists exporting, sending parts outside the UAE, among what it offers, and records stock that covers engines or their parts. It is a record of what they told us or published, not a check that they send parts to your country today or of what is on the shelf, and none of them has paid to be here. Ask how the part reaches you, and who handles the export paperwork, before you pay.

Questions buyers ask
- Do you sell complete engines or short blocks?
- No. Easy Auto exports new parts only. We quote the parts a rebuild needs, not complete engines, short blocks, half-cuts or rebuilt units. If an engine is beyond repair, a complete replacement is not something we export.
- What is the stamped engine number and why do you ask for it?
- It is the number stamped on the engine itself, separate from the chassis number on the plate. Together with the engine code it points to the exact build, which settles questions the code alone leaves open. Send a clear photo of the stamping beside the code.
- Which oversize should I order, 0.25 or 0.50?
- Whichever your machine shop measured. We do not choose it for you. Send the finished bore in millimetres or inches, say which unit you used, and we quote the piston and ring set listed for that size. Bearings are chosen the same way, from the ground journal sizes.
- Are Taiho, NPR and Daido parts the same as genuine Toyota parts?
- No. Genuine means the carmaker's own part in its own box. These are Japanese makers' brands, and whether a line counts as OE-brand depends on the maker's relationship to the carmaker, which we check. Every line on the quote names the brand and the grade.
- Can I mix OE-brand and aftermarket parts in one rebuild list?
- Yes, and it is a normal order. A buyer might take OE-brand bearings and rings with a quality aftermarket gasket set and water pump. Each line carries its own grade and brand, so you can see what you are paying for and compare lines.
- Do you quote Isuzu and Nissan engines as well as Toyota?
- We quote by engine code across makes. Toyota and Isuzu diesels are the families our research flags most for East and Southern Africa, and Nissan and Mitsubishi codes are checked the same way. A person confirms the code against your chassis number before quoting.
- Is there a minimum order for rebuild parts?
- We quote export orders by the list at trade quantities, not for one or two pieces. A rebuild list covering several groups or several engines is the kind of list we quote. A single gasket set on its own is not. A person tells you on WhatsApp if a list is too small.
