Fortuner and RAV4 parts from Dubai: engine codes, hybrids and drive side
Updated
The quick answer
Trade buyers in the Gulf, East and Southern Africa, Rwanda, Ivory Coast and Georgia can send a list of new parts for the Toyota Fortuner and RAV4. The Fortuner is a ladder-frame SUV with petrol and diesel engines; the RAV4 is a compact SUV with petrol, hybrid and plug-in versions. The chassis number and engine code decide every line. A person quotes on WhatsApp, names each grade, and your cargo agent collects the order in Dubai.
Key facts
- Wikipedia dates the Fortuner AN50 and AN60 to November 2004 to December 2015 and the AN150 and AN160 from July 2015, with chassis codes such as GGN155 and GUN156.
- Toyota UAE's 2026 Fortuner page lists a 2.7 litre four (164 hp) and a 4.0 litre V6 (235 hp), both 6-speed automatic and 4X4, with no diesel.
- Wikipedia lists second-generation Fortuner assembly at Mombasa in Kenya, Cairo in Egypt, Prospecton in South Africa and Karachi in Pakistan, among other sites.
- The RAV4 XA50 ran November 2018 to December 2025; the XA60 was revealed in May 2025, and its Middle East sales start in February 2026.
- Toyota UAE's 2026 RAV4 page shows one 2.0 litre engine and names no hybrid, while Wikipedia lists 2.5 litre petrol and hybrid versions of the XA50.
- Rwanda has banned right-hand-drive registration since 2005; the UAE was its second-largest recorded parts supplier in 2022, at 23%, and reported USD 10.6 million there in 2023.
- The 2AR-FXE hybrid engine shares the 2AR-FE's bore and stroke but has its own cams and pistons, so a petrol kit cannot be assumed to fit a hybrid.
- Hybrid battery packs stay out of export quotes, as do airbag modules and gas-charged shock absorbers; inverters are never quoted for refused destinations.

Which Fortuner generation and chassis code is yours?
Wikipedia gives the first Fortuner the codes AN50 for four-wheel drive and AN60 for two-wheel drive, built from November 2004 to December 2015 and also sold as the Hilux SW4. The second generation, AN150 and AN160, was unveiled on 16 July 2015 and had a facelift on 4 June 2020 that brought the Legender flagship. The chassis code carries the engine: GGN155 is a 4.0 litre V6 on the second generation, and GUN156 a 2.8 litre diesel.
Wikipedia's tables follow that pattern for every engine, and a person confirms it from the full chassis number rather than trusting the letters. The Gulf range is narrower than the world's. Toyota UAE's 2026 page offers the 2.7 and 4.0 petrols, while Wikipedia says the second generation reached the GCC in March 2016 with those two in the UAE and, in Saudi Arabia, 2.8 and 2.4 litre diesels as well. The first generation had no diesel in Saudi Arabia.
| Engine | AN50 and AN60, 2004 to 2015 | AN150 and AN160, from 2015 |
|---|---|---|
| 2TR-FE 2.7 litre petrol | TGN51 and TGN61 | TGN156 and TGN166 |
| 1GR-FE 4.0 litre V6 | GGN50 and GGN60 | GGN155 and GGN165 |
| 2KD-FTV 2.5 litre diesel | KUN50 and KUN60 | KUN155 and KUN165 |
| 1KD-FTV 3.0 litre diesel | KUN51 and KUN61 | KUN156 and KUN166 |
| 2GD-FTV 2.4 litre diesel | Not offered | GUN155 and GUN165 |
| 1GD-FTV 2.8 litre diesel | Not offered | GUN156 and GUN166 |
Does it matter where your Fortuner was assembled?
Wikipedia lists second-generation assembly at Zárate in Argentina, Cairo in Egypt, Bidadi in India, Karawang in Indonesia, Mombasa in Kenya, Shah Alam in Malaysia, Karachi in Pakistan, Prospecton in South Africa, Ban Pho in Thailand and Phúc Yên in Vietnam, among others. Egypt's first-generation assembly began in April 2012 and the second generation followed there in 2018. A Fortuner in Nairobi or Cairo may therefore have left a local plant, with a specification that differs from a Gulf truck's.
Plant matters most for lamps, bumpers and trim. The 2020 facelift gave the Legender different headlight units and bumper designs and 20-inch wheels, so a front-end line quoted for a standard 2018 truck would be wrong for a 2021 Legender. A person checks the build date against the facelift and quotes the right front-end number. The Egypt guide covers the ACID number and CargoX filing that any Cairo order needs.
Which countries run the Fortuner, and with which engines?
Qatar ranked the Fortuner tenth among its 72,220 new vehicles in 2024, and it sat in the top ten of Nigeria's 6,358 new light vehicles that year. South Africa is its African home: Wikipedia says the first generation launched there in 2006 and became its best-selling SUV, and the second launched on 31 March 2016. Those are signals of fleet size, not of the engine inside, which is why the table keeps the basis beside each row.
Our own file is small. The Fortuner appears in three of the 97 clear export enquiries on file, and twice among West and Central Africa's 18, clear and maybe together. One, from Ivory Coast in 2025, named a GGN155 with the 1GR-FE. An Angolan trade list named Fortuner, Hilux and Land Cruiser 200 engines; we answer a request like that with new rebuild parts matched to the engine code, not with engines. Ivory Coast's five-year cap on imported used passenger cars keeps the ones it brings in recent.

Which Fortuner parts are not Hilux parts?
Wikipedia says the Fortuner shares its bonnet panels, front pillar area, windscreen glass and front doors with the Hilux, while its interior is its own and its D-pillars are blacked out. Both share the chassis, transmission and engine lineup. The rear is where lists divide. The second-generation Fortuner has a five-link rear axle on coil springs, and Toyota describes the Hilux with leaf springs, so springs, bushes, links and arms are separate lines.
The drive differs as well. Wikipedia says the second generation moved from full-time to part-time 4x4, and names the 5-speed A750F and 6-speed AC60E and AC60F automatics and the R151, R151F and RC60 manuals. A clutch kit or a gearbox seal is quoted against the transmission code on your car. Our GD diesel and 2TR pages cover the engines the two trucks share, so this page does not repeat them.
The Fortuner is a wagon with two or three rows, and Wikipedia says its third-row seats fold up against the body sides. Rear doors, tailgate, rear lamps and seat parts are Fortuner lines, quoted by their own numbers. Where a Hilux number might fit, as on the front doors, a person says so only after matching it to your chassis number.
Which RAV4 is it: XA30, XA40, XA50 or XA60?
Wikipedia dates the third-generation XA30 to November 2005 to December 2012 for export, with 2.0, 2.4 and 2.5 litre fours, a 3.5 litre V6 and a 2.2 litre diesel. The XA40 ran December 2012 to November 2018 and added the 2.5 litre 2AR-FXE hybrid in its April 2015 facelift. The XA50 ran November 2018 to December 2025 with the 2.0 litre M20A-FKS, the 2.5 litre A25A-FKS and the A25A-FXS hybrid. The XA60 was revealed on 20 and 21 May 2025.
The Gulf range is narrow. Toyota UAE's 2026 RAV4 page shows a single 2.0 litre engine and names no hybrid. Wikipedia says Saudi Arabia launched the XA50 in April 2019, that Middle East XA30 cars had 2.4 litre engines, and that sales of the XA60 start there in February 2026. A hybrid RAV4 on a buyer's list may therefore be a car the Gulf range never offered, so the desk does not assume Gulf part numbers apply.
| Generation | Dates | Engines named |
|---|---|---|
| XA30 | November 2005 to December 2012 for export | 2.0 litre 1AZ-FE and 3ZR-FAE; 2.4 litre 2AZ-FE; 2.5 litre 2AR-FE from 2009; 3.5 litre 2GR-FE V6; 2.2 litre diesel |
| XA40 | December 2012 to November 2018 | 2.0 litre 3ZR-FAE and 3ZR-FE; 2.5 litre 2AR-FE; 2.5 litre 2AR-FXE hybrid from 2015; 2.0 and 2.2 litre diesels |
| XA50 | November 2018 to December 2025 | 2.0 litre M20A-FKS; 2.5 litre A25A-FKS; A25A-FXS hybrid; a plug-in hybrid at 302 hp |
| XA60 | Revealed May 2025; production from late 2025 | Hybrid and plug-in hybrid; China also a petrol-only version |
Who buys RAV4 parts: Rwanda, Ivory Coast, Georgia?
Rwanda is the cleanest fit. A 2002 presidential decree banned right-hand-drive registration from 2005, so its cars are left-hand drive like Gulf cars, and the UAE was its second-largest recorded supplier of vehicle parts in 2022 at 23%. The UAE reported USD 10.6 million of parts exports to Rwanda in 2023. Our research names the RAV4 among Rwanda's lead Toyotas beside the Prado, Land Cruiser, Hilux and Corolla, but no source gives a model split, so we state no share.
Ivory Coast is the other African fit. Three of the 18 West and Central African enquiries on file named a RAV4, and the research lists it among the region's lead Toyotas. The UAE was Ivory Coast's largest recorded supplier of the catch-all parts line in 2023, at 27%. Filters, pads, ignition coils, wheel bearings and suspension arms are the lines the Ivory Coast guide names for the Corolla and RAV4, and the same lines suit a RAV4 list from any buyer there.
Georgia's RAV4s are largely American. Toyota is 10.5% of its 1,912,866 registered cars, 201,556 of them, and the research reads Toyota's place beside Ford, Mercedes and BMW as the mark of the American damaged-car repair trade, naming the RAV4 among the likely cars. That is an inference, as no source counts RAV4s there. If it holds, the cars are Woodstock or Georgetown builds with US-market numbers, and the Georgia guide sets out the end-use questions we ask.
How do you buy parts for a hybrid RAV4?
Wikipedia says the 2AR-FXE keeps the 2AR-FE's 90 by 98 mm bore and stroke but has its own cams and pistons, and that the A25A-FXS is a separate variant of the A25A-FKS, the plug-in version using a differently tuned A25A-FXS at 225 kW combined. An engine-internal list for the petrol RAV4 cannot be reused for the hybrid. Say hybrid in the first line, with the engine code, and the quote lists the right gasket, bearing and timing parts.
A hybrid still uses ordinary parts. Brake pads and discs, suspension arms, wheel bearings, cooling parts, filters and lamps are quoted by number like any other car's. Hybrid battery packs stay out of export quotes, with batteries of every kind. Inverters and DC converters sit under HS 8504.40 on the Russia high-priority list, so we never quote them for onward shipment to a refused destination, and your clearing agent decides how to classify them.
Genuine, OE-brand or aftermarket on these Toyotas?
The one measured number for a Fortuner engine is the 1GR-FE water pump, Toyota 16100-39456, read at Dubai counters on 3 November 2026: AED 397 genuine, AED 229 from GMB and AED 214 from NPW, VAT included. Toyota's box therefore costs about 1.7 to 1.9 times either independent brand's. The seller's listing names other Toyotas, the Land Cruiser, Prado, Hilux and 4Runner, but not the Fortuner, so we confirm the line against the GGN chassis number first.
We have measured no RAV4 ladder, so we state no ratio for it. A mixed list can take genuine on engine and electrical lines, an OE-brand maker such as Denso or Aisin where a source names it as a Toyota supplier, and a named quality aftermarket brand on suspension and body lines. Each quote sets the grades side by side and names the brand on every line, and we ask for the distributor invoice on any genuine filter.
What to send for a Fortuner or RAV4 quote
For a Fortuner send the chassis number or VIN, the engine code, the build month and year, whether it is a pre-2015 AN50 or AN60 or a later truck, and the country where it was assembled or sold. For a RAV4 add the generation, XA30 to XA60, whether it is a hybrid, and whether the car is Gulf, US or Japanese specification. A photograph of the old part with its number settles most lines.
Before paying, check that the number on the box agrees with your list, that the box names the brand on your quote line and that engine kits state the code they are made for. Rwanda, Ivory Coast, Georgia and the Gulf each add steps of their own, from conformity certificates to import declarations and end-use questions, and each has its own guide. Your agent confirms the route in writing.

Questions buyers ask
- Which Fortuner parts are different from a Hilux?
- Wikipedia says the two share bonnet panels, front pillars, windscreen glass and front doors, but the Fortuner has its own interior and a five-link rear axle on coil springs. Rear body, lamps, seats and rear suspension are therefore Fortuner lines. Send the chassis number and a person checks each number before quoting.
- Which engine does a GGN155 Fortuner carry?
- Wikipedia pairs the GGN155 and GGN165 codes with the 4.0 litre 1GR-FE V6 on the second-generation Fortuner. The letters are a pattern, not a rule, so send the full chassis number and the engine code too. The 1GR-FE parts page covers the gasket, timing and pump lines in more detail.
- My Fortuner is a diesel: which engine page applies?
- Second-generation trucks with the 2GD-FTV (2.4 litre) or 1GD-FTV (2.8 litre) belong on the GD diesel page. Older trucks with the 2KD-FTV (2.5 litre) or 1KD-FTV (3.0 litre) belong on the KD page. The chassis code settles which you have: GUN means a GD engine and KUN a KD engine, per Wikipedia's tables.
- Is a Gulf RAV4 the same as a US-built RAV4?
- Not necessarily. Toyota UAE lists one 2.0 litre engine for 2026, while Wikipedia lists 2.5 litre petrol and hybrid versions of the XA50 built at Woodstock and Georgetown for North America. Lamps, bumpers and engine parts can differ. Send the VIN and say whether you think the car is Gulf, US or Japanese specification.
- Can you quote parts for a hybrid RAV4?
- Yes, for the ordinary lines: engine internals matched to the hybrid code, brakes, suspension, cooling, filters and lamps. Hybrid battery packs stay out of export quotes, and inverters and converters are never quoted for onward shipment to refused destinations. Say hybrid in the first line, because petrol and hybrid engines do not share every internal part.
- Can a Rwandan buyer order RAV4 parts from Dubai?
- Yes. Rwanda bans right-hand-drive registration, so its cars are left-hand drive like Gulf cars, and the UAE was its second-largest recorded parts supplier in 2022. Send the VIN, the generation and the list, and a person quotes with the grade named. Your cargo agent collects in Dubai and arranges the route to Kigali.
- Do you supply used Fortuner or RAV4 parts, engines or gearboxes?
- No. Used parts, half-cuts and used or rebuilt engines and gearboxes are not part of what we export. We quote new genuine, OE-brand and quality aftermarket parts only. For an engine your workshop is overhauling, we price the new gasket sets, bearings, timing parts and pumps for its code.
- How big must a Fortuner or RAV4 order be?
- One or two pieces are not an export order, so the desk works from lists. Put the parts for every Fortuner and RAV4 you run into one message, with a quantity beside each line. If the list is too small, a person tells you on WhatsApp; if it is not, each line comes back with its grade and brand.
