Range Rover, Sport, Discovery and Defender parts from Dubai for export

Updated

The quick answer

Traders and workshops in Kuwait, East Africa and the Gulf can ask for new parts for the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Discovery and Defender by the list. The VIN leads every line, because the names cover aluminium and steel bodies, air and coil springs, and petrol, diesel and hybrid engines. A person quotes on WhatsApp, names the grade of each line, and quotes electronic parts by VIN only. Your cargo agent collects in Dubai.

Key facts

  • The Range Rover L405 was built at Solihull from 2012 to 2021 on an all-aluminium monocoque with electronic cross-linked air suspension and an 8-speed ZF automatic.
  • In the Middle East the Discovery 3 and 4 were sold as the LR3 and LR4, and Wikipedia says both were assembled at Solihull and at Aqaba in Jordan.
  • Wikipedia says the Defender L663, unveiled on 10 September 2019 and built at Nitra in Slovakia, shares no components with the Defender built from 1983 to 2016.
  • Read on 4 November 2026, one Dubai listing showed genuine Land Rover filter element LR011279 at AED 196.97 and 210.09, and four independent brands at AED 41.52 to 75.85.
  • On early 5.0 litre AJ133 V8s, Wikipedia says worn timing-chain guides were cured with steel inserts that must be fitted as a matched set.
  • One of our 97 clear export enquiries named a Range Rover, an L405 from Kuwait; two of 28 East African enquiries named Land Rover.
  • Control units, modules and keys are quoted by VIN and part number only; batteries and airbag modules stay out of export quotes.

Which Range Rover, Sport, Discovery or Defender is yours?

Four names hide at least six vehicles. Wikipedia dates the Range Rover L405 to 2012 to 2021 and the Range Rover Sport L494 to 2013 to 2022, both assembled at Solihull. The Discovery ran through the Discovery 3, the Discovery 4 and, from February 2017, the Discovery 5, built at Solihull until 2018 and at Nitra in Slovakia since. The Defender is two cars: the one built from 1983 to 2016 and the L663 unveiled in September 2019. Parts follow the generation, not the name.

In the Middle East the Discovery 3 and 4 were sold as the LR3 and LR4, the names used in North America, and Wikipedia says both were assembled at Aqaba in Jordan as well as at Solihull. A Gulf buyer who writes LR4 means the Discovery 4 of 2009 to 2016. Give both names with the VIN so the quote matches the catalogue entry, and add the facelift year where there was one, since the L405 changed its grille and lamps in 2018.

Which engines sit in them, from the AJ133 V8 to Ingenium?

Wikipedia names the 5.0 litre AJ133 V8, introduced in 2009 for the 2010 model year with Bosch high-pressure direct injection, as the petrol V8 of the Range Rover, the Sport and the Discovery 4, at 375 PS naturally aspirated and 510 PS to 575 PS supercharged. Beside it sit a 3.0 litre supercharged V6, the 3.0 litre TDV6 and SDV6 diesels at 258 PS to 340 PS, the 4.4 litre SDV8 diesel on the Range Rover and Sport, and the Ingenium fours and sixes.

The 5.0 litre carries a known parts story. Wikipedia describes a steel tensioner plunger cutting a groove in the aluminium timing-chain guide on certain early AJ133 engines, causing rattling at idle and on a cold start, and says JLR answered with steel inserts, with an 8 mm pitch INA chain on every AJ133 from the 2011 model year. The revised components must be fitted as a matched set. A timing kit for a 2010 engine and one for a 2012 engine are therefore different lines.

The newest cars add electrification. The Range Rover offered a 2.0 litre plug-in hybrid from the 2019 model year, the Sport lists one too, each with a 13.1 kWh battery, and the 3.0 litre Ingenium six is a mild hybrid in the Range Rover, the Discovery 5 and the Defender. Hybrid battery packs stay out of export quotes; engine, brake, cooling and body lines are quoted by number against the engine code.

Where do these cars run: Kuwait, East Africa, the Gulf?

Our Kuwait signal is a single enquiry, for a Range Rover L405, and the sample is as small as it sounds: Land Rover appears once among our 97 clear export enquiries. The wider picture is a market short of parts. In July 2026 Kuwait Times described dealers holding genuine parts back for their own workshops, fuel pumps gone entirely and parts for new Chinese models the hardest to find. A Range Rover owner there depends on whoever can still source a genuine line.

East Africa is equally thin. Two of the 28 East African enquiries on file, clear and maybe together, named Land Rover, and both named a Range Rover or a Discovery. Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania drive on the left, so the cars on their roads are normally right-hand drive. Filters, brakes, suspension and engine parts are quoted by part number. Steering racks and dashboard parts belong to one side of the car and are quoted by part number alone.

In the Gulf the names buyers type are the LR3 and LR4, as above. No registration or sales ranking for Land Rover in Saudi Arabia, Qatar or the UAE came up in our research, and we publish none. What we do hold is a trait of the buyers: across the 53 enquiries from the Gulf, Iraq and the Levant, genuine words appear in 12, aftermarket words in 4 and no grade word in 34, so most buyers do not choose a grade up front and the first quote should set the choices side by side.

What do air suspension and an aluminium body change?

The L405 has electronic cross-linked air suspension with variable ride height, and Wikipedia credits it with an all-aluminium monocoque, a first for a 4x4 of its type, 420 kg lighter than the car it replaced. In practice that makes air springs, compressors, valve blocks and height sensors real lines for these cars, and collision parts aluminium panels cut to the exact year. A part for a 2013 car may not suit the 2018 facelift, which brought a new grille and LED daytime running lights.

Not every Land Rover has air springs. Wikipedia says the Discovery 5 has coil springs on base trims with air suspension optional, every Defender 110 has air suspension and the 90 can be ordered with coils or air. The question for a suspension quote is therefore which the car has, and the VIN answers it. A retailer listing we read described Arnott's replacement L405 compressor as a new AMK-built unit, the same maker as the original, but that came from a search summary, and we confirm the maker on each line.

Carriers can treat batteries, airbag modules, belt pretensioners, fluids, aerosols and gas-charged dampers as dangerous goods, so none of them appears in an export quote. Air springs, compressors, valve blocks, links, arms, bushes and bearings are quoted by number against the VIN.

Genuine, OE-brand or aftermarket: what a Dubai listing shows

We measured one Land Rover number on 4 November 2026: oil filter element LR011279, which the listing names as a Discovery IV part. Land Rover's own part showed two prices, AED 196.97 and AED 210.09, against AED 75.85 for Bosch, AED 72.11 for Mahle, AED 64.46 for Hengst and AED 41.52 for Blue Print. The page does not say whether VAT is included in those offers, so compare ratios, not totals. The four independent brands cost 0.21 to 0.39 of the lower genuine price.

That gap is why grade matters more on a Land Rover than on most cars. A buyer can take genuine on timing, air suspension and electronic lines and a named independent brand on filters and wear parts. Our notes list Bosch and Mahle among makers that supply carmakers, but we do not call a line OE-brand until a person has matched its number to a maker that supplies Land Rover. ZF, named by Wikipedia for the L405's 8-speed automatic, and Bosch, for the AJ133's direct injection, are makers where a source ties the brand to the car.

Counterfeiters follow price gaps. In 2024 Al-Futtaim's raids in the UAE netted about AED 7.46 million of fake parts, and oil filters made up AED 2.81 million of that. Whatever the brand, ask for the distributor invoice on any genuine filter, and for photos of the box and the part number, before paying.

Why are Land Rover electronics quoted by VIN only?

Modules, control units, keys and sensors are matched to the car's market, engine and equipment, so a module quoted from a photograph of the old one is a guess. We quote them by VIN and part number only, the same rule as on our ECU page. The two must agree before a line is priced, and where they do not we decline the line. If a module turns out wrong, the return trip is yours to arrange with your agent.

Land Rover gives its own reasons. Wikipedia says the Defender L663 shares no components with the Defender built until 2016, and that the Discovery 5 shares the D7u platform with the Range Rover and the Sport, so a number from one family says little about another. Air suspension modules, engine and gearbox control units and body modules are quoted only after the VIN is matched, and circuits of this kind are on the Russia high-priority list, so we never quote them for onward shipment to a refused destination.

What to send for a Land Rover quote, and what to check

Send the 17-character VIN, the model name and body type, the engine and gearbox, the drive side and the country, with a photograph of the old part and its number. Many Land Rover numbers in the listings we read begin LR followed by six digits, as in LR011279, and a number from the box or the casting is the strongest key after the VIN. Add the grade you want and a quantity for each line.

Before paying, check three things. The full number on the box must match your list, and the brand on the box must match the brand on your quote line. Timing and suspension lines must say which engine year or suspension type they suit. In Kuwait only Kuwaiti importers or their registered brokers can clear goods, and oil filters, brake pads and batteries have been on its conformity list since 2011, so your broker confirms who clears yours.

  • Before you pay, ask for photos of the parts with their part numbers in view.

UAE parts shops that export

These shops are here because our record of each one lists exporting, sending parts outside the UAE, among what it offers, and names Land Rover among the makes it covers. It is a record of what they told us or published, not a check that they send parts to your country today or of what is on the shelf, and none of them has paid to be here. Ask how the part reaches you, and who handles the export paperwork, before you pay.

Questions buyers ask

What does LR3 or LR4 mean on a Discovery part?
They are the names Land Rover used for the Discovery 3 and 4 in North America and the Middle East, according to Wikipedia. The LR3 dates from June 2004 and the LR4 covers 2009 to 2016. Give the VIN with the name so the quote matches your exact car, since the engines changed between them.
Do Range Rover L405 parts fit the Range Rover Sport?
Not by assumption. Wikipedia lists the L405 and the Sport L494 on the same D7u platform, with overlapping engines, but their bodies, interiors and suspension differ. Mechanical numbers may match and body numbers will not. Send the part number and the VIN and a person checks each line before quoting.
Will an older Defender part fit the new Defender?
No. Wikipedia says the L663 shares no components with the Defender built from 1983 to 2016, and that it uses an aluminium unibody instead of a separate frame. A part for one is not a part for the other. Send the VIN so the desk can tell which Defender you have.
How much cheaper is an independent brand than genuine?
For one Discovery IV filter element on 4 November 2026, the independent brands cost 0.21 to 0.39 of the lower genuine price. That is one part and one listing, not a rule for the car. We have no ladder for suspension or electronics, so each quote sets the grades side by side.
Do you quote air suspension parts for a Range Rover?
Yes: air springs, compressors, valve blocks, links, arms and bushes, matched to the VIN. Gas-charged shock absorbers stay out of export quotes because carriers can treat them as dangerous goods. Say whether the car has air suspension at all, since the Discovery 5 and the Defender 90 can have coil springs.
Can you quote a Range Rover control unit from a photo?
No. We quote control units, modules and keys by VIN and part number only, because a module is matched to the car's market, engine and equipment. Send both the VIN and a clear photograph of the label on the old unit, and a person checks they agree before pricing the line.
Is a Gulf-market Range Rover part right for a right-hand-drive car in Kenya?
Mechanical parts such as filters, brakes, suspension and engine parts are quoted by part number and can fit. Steering racks, dashboards and other side-specific parts are made for one side of the car and are quoted by part number only. Tell us the drive side of your car on the first line.
Do you supply used Land Rover parts, engines or gearboxes?
No. Easy Auto does not sell anything second-hand or rebuilt, and that covers engines, gearboxes and air suspension units. What we export is new: genuine, OE-brand and quality aftermarket. A worn diesel or V8 gets a list of new gaskets, bearings, timing parts and pumps matched to its code.
