The quick answer

Porsche parts in the UAE move on Cayenne air suspension and cooling parts (many shared with Touareg/Q7), brakes, and body panels. Dubai actually leads for Porsche parts, on 8 of the 25 — rare in this trade.

Where Porsche parts supply actually sits

Porsche supply runs from 8 in Dubai through 7 in Abu Dhabi down to 1 in Ras Al Khaimah — a gap of 7 listings across 6 emirates.

Column three is the salvage route: 5 of the 25 are used-parts yards — Sharjah 4, Dubai 1. A used Cayenne panel is cheap; a used Porsche gearbox needs a written warranty.

Porsche parts that are also Volkswagen parts

Some Porsche parts are not Porsche parts. The Cayenne 9PA shares the PL71 platform underneath, plus the 3.6 VR6 engine and the six-speed TR-60SN/09D automatic with the Volkswagen Touareg 7L. The Cayenne 92A shares the PL72 platform underneath, plus the 3.6 VR6 engine and the eight-speed TL-80SN/TR-82SD automatic with the Volkswagen Touareg 7P. The Cayenne 9YA shares the MLB Evo platform underneath, plus the ZF eight-speed automatic with the Volkswagen Touareg CR. The Cayenne 9PA shares the PL71 platform and the 3.6 VR6 engine with the Audi Q7 (first generation). The Cayenne 9YA shares the MLB Evo platform and the ZF 8HP eight-speed automatic with the Audi Q7 (second generation).

Ask for the Porsche number and the Volkswagen number together — the same box, two prices.

Porsche type codes — 9PA, 92A, 9YA, 95B — and the years where two overlap

Porsche sells the type code, not the badge on the tailgate, and the rows below come from Porsche's own model overview. The Cayenne is the 9PA from the 2003 model year, the 92A from 2011 and the 9YA from 2017. The Macan is the 95B from 2014. Inside the 9PA there is a second split the code does not show: the 955 is the original and the 957 is the facelift introduced for 2008, which moved the Cayenne S from a 4.5-litre V8 to a 4.8-litre direct-injection V8.

The 911 is the car where the year misleads. The overview has the 997 from 2005, the 991 from 2012 and the 992 from 2019, but the change from 997 to 991 fell in the middle of the 2012 model year, so a 2012 car can be either one depending on the month it was built. The type code on the plate decides that; the year in a listing does not. The Panamera is the 970 from 2010 and the 971 from 2016.

Older and rarer cars are the soft edge. The 996 that preceded the 997 is dated to 1997 on Porsche's history pages and is absent from the overview we used, so it has no row. The Boxster, Cayman and Taycan sit in the same overview and are not repeated here. For any of them a chassis number gets a counter to the right car faster than a year does.

Which Porsche you are pricing: the code first, then the engine

A Porsche type code names the car and not the job. The 9PA covers the 955 and the 957, and the 957 changed the engines, so the same Cayenne S is two different cars to a counter: one with the 4.5-litre V8 and one with the 4.8-litre direct-injection V8. A quote that says only 9PA has not told you which of the two it covers.

Whose badge the number was read from is the second thing to pin down. A Cayenne lines up with a Touareg or a Q7 on engines and gearboxes, as the table above sets out, and a figure attached to a Volkswagen number and one attached to a Porsche number for the same engine are under no obligation to match. Ask which you are being quoted before you compare.

Nothing is priced on this page. No UAE seller we could find puts a dated figure and its own name beside one of these parts, and a number with neither is decoration.
