For parts suppliers
Selling car parts on WhatsApp in the UAE: what our numbers show
Updated
The quick answer
WhatsApp is where many UAE parts customers ask, and speed matters. When Easy Auto's sourcing desk asked 52 UAE parts suppliers for 488 parts between 7 October and 2 November 2026, the answers that came back came fast: half within 9 minutes. But on WhatsApp, silence was the commonest reply: 164 of 433 asks sent there were answered (38%). The 55 phone asks all carry an answer only because they are logged after the call. WhatsApp selling breaks when the person who knows the stock is busy, closed or away. A good answer gives the price, the brand, a photo of the label and when the part can be collected; a part on a stock list is matched without anyone having to type.
Key facts
- 488 part-by-part asks went to 52 UAE suppliers between 7 October and 2 November 2026: 433 on WhatsApp and 55 by phone.
- On WhatsApp, 164 of 433 asks were answered (38%) and 269 (62%) never were. Phone asks are logged by our staff after the call, so all 55 carry an answer.
- Half of the 219 answers, phone included, came within 9 minutes, and 132 within 15 minutes; 20 took more than a day.
- Asks sent between 18:00 and 23:00 were answered less often (39%) but faster when they were: a median of 2.7 minutes.
- On Fridays 14 of 39 asks were answered (36%), against 205 of 449 on the other days (46%).
- 124 answers said the part was in stock, and 11 became a priced offer to a customer.
- Customers ask on WhatsApp too: 287 part requests reached Easy Auto's WhatsApp in the same weeks.

Customers already ask on WhatsApp
Many parts purchases in the UAE start with a message. Between 7 October and 2 November 2026, 287 part requests reached Easy Auto on WhatsApp: a car, a photo, a part name, sometimes a number. Many parts shops' own customers message first and visit later, if at all.
That makes WhatsApp a busy shop window for a parts business, and a demanding one. Every message is a customer waiting, and the customer often sends the same message to several shops at once.
Those 287 requests carried 304 part lines, because a customer fixing one problem often needs more than one part: pads and discs, a bulb and its holder, a hose and its clamps. Each line is its own question about fit, stock and price, and each one needs its own answer.
Our sourcing desk: a parts buyer that keeps count
Easy Auto's sourcing desk is, in effect, a parts customer that sends a lot of messages and records every one. When a customer asks us for a part that no list we hold contains, the desk asks suppliers whether they have it: one part, to one supplier, per ask, by WhatsApp or by phone. Between 7 October and 2 November 2026, 294 of the 304 part lines customers sent us needed asking this way, and the desk sent 488 asks to 52 suppliers, 433 on WhatsApp and 55 by phone.
That makes our records an unusual thing: a count, from the buyer's side, of how UAE parts suppliers answer WhatsApp. They are the same kind of messages a garage or a driver sends a shop. The difference is that we write down what happened next, so every figure on this page is a count of real asks, not a survey of what shops say they do.
How fast UAE parts suppliers answer
When suppliers answer, most answer fast. Of the 219 asks that were answered, 132 were answered within 15 minutes, and half within 9 minutes. But a long tail took hours, and 20 took more than a day, by which time the customer may well have bought elsewhere.
The 219 answered asks include the 55 made by phone, which are logged after the call. The running total in the table shows how the answers build up: 163 had arrived within the hour, and the last 20 trickled in after a full day had passed.
How long answered part requests took
| Within 15 minutes | 132 |
|---|---|
| 15 to 60 minutes | 31 |
| 1 to 4 hours | 25 |
| 4 to 24 hours | 11 |
| Over a day | 20 |
| Time to answer | Answers | Share of answered asks | Answered by then |
|---|---|---|---|
| Within 15 minutes | 132 | 60% | 132 of 219 |
| 15 to 60 minutes | 31 | 14% | 163 of 219 |
| 1 to 4 hours | 25 | 11% | 188 of 219 |
| 4 to 24 hours | 11 | 5.0% | 199 of 219 |
| Over a day | 20 | 9.1% | 219 of 219 |
Answer rates by channel: WhatsApp and phone
The two channels cannot be compared head to head, and it is worth saying why before reading the numbers. Phone asks are logged by our staff after a call, so all 55 of them carry an answer: the phone row counts calls that were answered and nothing else. WhatsApp asks are counted when they are sent, answered or not.
The honest answer rate for a WhatsApp message is therefore the WhatsApp row on its own: 164 of 433, or 38%. Across both channels the figure is 219 of 488, 45%, which reads better than WhatsApp alone only because it mixes in calls that were logged after a conversation had already happened.
| Channel | Asks | Answered | Answer rate | How the ask is recorded |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 433 | 164 | 38% | When the message is sent, whether or not a reply comes | |
| Phone | 55 | 55 | 100% | By staff after the call, so every phone ask carries an answer |
| Both | 488 | 219 | 45% | Not comparable across channels; read the WhatsApp row |
Most WhatsApp asks are never answered
The bigger loss is silence. 269 of the 433 WhatsApp asks, 62%, got no answer at all. Across both channels the count is the same, 269 of 488, because every unanswered ask was a WhatsApp message.
A supplier may not have had the part and not said so, may have seen the message in a busy hour and never come back to it, or may have been closed. To the customer, all three look the same.
A quick no is worth more than it seems. It lets the customer move on, and it tells whoever is asking that you are worth asking next time.
Did the supplier answer a WhatsApp ask?
- Answered: 164 (38%)
- Never answered: 269 (62%)
Answer rates by time of day
The working day looks much the same in the morning and the afternoon. Asks sent between 08:00 and 13:00 were answered 47% of the time, with a median wait of 9.1 minutes; those sent between 13:00 and 18:00, 47%, with a median of 11.5 minutes.
The evening is different in a useful way. Fewer asks sent between 18:00 and 23:00 were answered, 39%, but the suppliers still answering then answered quickly, with a median of 2.7 minutes. Overnight, 9 asks produced 1 answer. If the pattern in our asks holds for your own customers, an evening answer meets less competition than a midday one.
| Sent between | Asks | Answered | Answer rate | Median time to answer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 08:00 to 13:00 | 187 | 87 | 47% | 9.1 minutes |
| 13:00 to 18:00 | 220 | 103 | 47% | 11.5 minutes |
| 18:00 to 23:00 | 72 | 28 | 39% | 2.7 minutes |
| 23:00 to 08:00 | 9 | 1 | 11% | Too few answers to measure |
Friday and the rest of the week
Friday is the one day that stands apart in our asks. 14 of the 39 asks sent on Fridays were answered, 36%, against 205 of 449 on the other six days, 46%. The Friday count is a small sample, so read the gap as a sign rather than a measurement.
Customers do not stop asking on Fridays. In Easy Auto's website and first-bot records, Friday brought 140 part requests between 20 July and 1 November 2026: fewer than any other day, but far from none. Whatever the reason in each shop, the effect for a customer is the same, and in our records a shop that answers on a Friday is answering when fewer others do.
| Day | Asks | Answered | Answer rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Friday | 39 | 14 | 36% |
| Saturday to Thursday | 449 | 205 | 46% |
What a good answer contains
Of the 219 answers, 124 said the part was in stock, and 11 became a priced offer to a customer. A useful answer settles the questions a customer will ask before the customer has to ask them.
Order matters as much as content. Put the yes or no first, then the price, then the brand and grade, then the proof, then the time. A customer comparing several replies on a small screen often reads only the first line of each, and a reply that opens with a question back to them is easy to pass over.
| Include | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| The price, and whether it includes VAT | A price ends the conversation; no price starts another one |
| The brand, and whether it is genuine | The same number can be a genuine part or an aftermarket part at a different price |
| A photo of the part's label or box | It shows the number and settles most doubts about fit |
| Quantity in stock | Pairs and sets need to be complete |
| When and where it can be collected | A customer comparing shops chooses the one that is ready |
| A clear no, when you do not have it | It frees the customer and keeps you worth asking |
A weak answer and a strong one
The difference between a weak answer and a strong one is often not the part at all. It is whether the reply leaves the customer with anything left to ask. Four common requests show it.
| The customer sends | A weak answer | A strong answer |
|---|---|---|
| Front brake pads for their car, by model and year | Yes, available | Yes: aftermarket, a full front set in stock, the price in AED including VAT, a photo of the box label, ready for collection this afternoon |
| A genuine part number | Call me | Not the genuine part, but an OE-brand part for that number: the price, a photo of the label, and when it can be collected |
| A photo of a broken mirror | No reply | Which side, and does it have a camera or an indicator in it? Send the VIN and we will check the exact part |
| A part you do not hold | No reply | Sorry, not in stock, and not expected this week |
From a yes to an offer
124 answers said yes, the part is here, and 11 of them became a priced offer to a customer. Our records count the outcome, not the reason, so we do not guess at why the other 113 in-stock answers went no further.
What we can say is what any answer needs before it can become an offer at all. It needs a price, the brand and the grade, the quantity, and a time when the part can be had. And it needs to arrive while the customer is still waiting, which on WhatsApp is not long, because the same request has often gone to other shops as well.
Where WhatsApp selling breaks
WhatsApp scales with people, not with stock. One person who knows the shelves can only answer so many requests an hour; at rush hour, on Fridays, after closing time or when that person is on leave, the requests wait. Messages scroll out of sight. Photos of parts arrive without a car. The same customer asks again an hour later.
Shops often cope by keeping one person on the phone all day, by using WhatsApp Business features such as quick replies and labels, or by not answering the requests that look like time-wasters, which loses real sales too. The table sets out the common breaks with their usual cause and a fix.
| Sign | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Requests go unanswered in busy hours | One person holds every chat | Saved replies for the common questions, and a stock list for the parts asked for most |
| Chats scroll out of sight before they are answered | Nothing tracks which requests are still open | Label every chat: new, quoted, waiting for payment, closed |
| Photos arrive with no car | The customer does not know what you need | A greeting message that asks for the car, the year and the VIN |
| The same customer asks twice | The first answer was a question, not a price | Answer with price, brand and a label photo the first time |
| Evening requests are cold by morning | Nobody covers the evening | An away message saying when you will answer, and stock held where it can be matched without you |
| Different staff quote different prices | Prices live in people's heads | One current price list that everyone quotes from |
WhatsApp Business features, and what they do not solve
WhatsApp Business is the version of the app made for businesses, and for a parts shop it is the right one to use. Its features save typing and keep chats in order. None of them knows your shelves, so none of them can tell a customer whether you hold the part they need. The table pairs each feature with what it helps with and where it stops.
| Feature | What it helps with | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|
| Business profile | Your address, opening hours and a short description where customers can see them | Answer a single request |
| Catalogue | Showing the parts you are known for, with photos and prices | Say which car a part fits |
| Quick replies | Sending a saved answer to a common question in a few taps | Find the part or check the shelf |
| Labels | Sorting chats into new, quoted, paid and closed | Answer anything: someone still works through them |
| Greeting message | Asking a new customer for the car, the year and the VIN up front | Tell whether the photo they send shows the right part |
| Away message | Telling customers when you will reply while you are closed | Answer the request: it still waits until you are back |
| Short link or QR code | Letting customers start a chat from your sign, your card or your directory page | Add people to answer the extra chats it brings |
A stock list is matched without anyone typing
A part on a stock list sent to Easy Auto is matched to a customer's request without a message reaching you and without anyone waiting for your reply. We identify the part, find it in your list, quote the customer our price, and contact you only when it has been ordered. Your WhatsApp is left for your own customers, and a request that arrives after your shop has shut can still be matched to your list, because the list does not need you there.
The matching runs on the number, not on the wording. Part numbers are compared as capital letters and digits only, with spaces, dashes, dots and slashes removed, so the same number written three ways is one number. A cell can hold several full numbers, or a short form after a slash that replaces the end of the number before it. And because many lists carry the genuine number each part stands in for, a customer's genuine number can find an aftermarket part on your list without either of you typing a word.
Parts that are not on a list are still asked for by message, as today. A list does not stop the messages; it stops the ones you never had time to answer.
A price sent on WhatsApp, and what the law says about it
A price typed into a chat is still a price shown to a customer. Under the VAT law, Federal Decree-Law No. 8 of 2017, prices declared for taxable sales must include VAT, at the standard rate of 5%. A VAT-registered seller may quote without VAT only for exports or to a VAT-registered customer, such as a registered garage, and must then label the price as excluding VAT. So the advice above to say whether a price includes VAT is the minimum: quoting a driver, a registered seller's price must already include it.
A sale agreed on WhatsApp carries the same paperwork as one at the counter. The consumer protection law, Federal Law No. 15 of 2020, requires a detailed invoice in Arabic showing the seller's trade name and address, the goods, the price and the quantity, and its regulations, Cabinet Resolution No. 66 of 2023, bar adding a surcharge when a customer pays by credit card. A VAT-registered seller must also issue and deliver an original tax invoice for every taxable sale, and the Federal Tax Authority says that offering one only when the customer asks does not meet the rule. A simplified tax invoice, allowed for a customer who is not VAT registered and for sales of AED 10,000 or less to one who is, must be issued on the date of supply.
Describing a part untruly is an offence however the description is sent: the consumer protection law forbids describing goods with false data, and the commercial fraud law, Federal Decree-Law No. 42 of 2023, makes misleading descriptions and the sale of counterfeit goods offences. Say aftermarket when it is aftermarket. This is a summary for orientation, not legal advice: check Federal Decree-Law No. 8 of 2017, Federal Law No. 15 of 2020 and Federal Decree-Law No. 42 of 2023 on the UAE Legislation Portal, read on 4 November 2026.

Questions suppliers ask
- How fast should a parts shop answer on WhatsApp?
- As fast as possible. In our sourcing data, half of the answers suppliers gave, by WhatsApp or phone, arrived within 9 minutes, and customers often ask several shops at once.
- Is it worth answering when I do not have the part?
- Yes. A quick no lets the customer move on and makes you worth asking next time. Silence looks the same as not having it, and it can be how repeat requests stop coming.
- Should I use WhatsApp Business rather than ordinary WhatsApp?
- For a shop, yes. A business profile, quick replies and labels make it easier to answer the same questions fast and to keep track of open requests.
- Does Easy Auto message suppliers for parts?
- Yes. When a customer asks for a part that is not on any list we hold, our sourcing desk asks suppliers by WhatsApp or phone: 488 such asks between 7 October and 2 November 2026.
- Will Easy Auto message me about every part on my list?
- No. Parts on a priced list are priced from it, and you hear from us only when one has been ordered. Messages are for parts no list holds, and for lists sent without prices.
- Can I keep selling on my own WhatsApp too?
- Yes. Your WhatsApp and your own customers stay yours. A list with Easy Auto can add customers who ask us.
- What share of WhatsApp part requests do suppliers answer?
- In our records, 164 of 433 WhatsApp asks to UAE suppliers between 7 October and 2 November 2026 were answered, 38%. The rest got no reply at all.
- Why does every phone ask show an answer?
- Because phone asks are logged by our staff after the call. A phone ask only enters the records once there has been a conversation, so the phone figure cannot be compared with WhatsApp, where every message is counted whether or not it is answered.
- Do suppliers answer faster in the evening?
- When they answer at all, yes: asks sent between 18:00 and 23:00 had a median answer time of 2.7 minutes, against 9.1 in the morning. But only 39% of evening asks were answered.
- Do fewer suppliers answer on Fridays?
- In our records, yes: 14 of 39 Friday asks were answered (36%), against 46% on other days. It is a small sample, so treat it as a sign rather than a measurement.
- What should a WhatsApp answer to a part request include?
- The price and whether it includes VAT, the brand and whether it is genuine, a photo of the label or box, the quantity, and when and where it can be collected. If you do not have the part, a clear no.
- Can WhatsApp Business answer for me when I am closed?
- Only to say you are closed. An away message tells the customer when you will reply; it does not find the part or quote a price. A stock list held by Easy Auto can be matched to a request while your shop is shut.
- Must a price I quote on WhatsApp include VAT?
- If you are VAT registered and quoting a customer who is not, yes: under Federal Decree-Law No. 8 of 2017, prices declared for taxable sales must include VAT. A price without VAT is allowed only for exports or for a VAT-registered customer, and must say it excludes VAT. This is a summary for orientation, not legal advice.
- How many parts does one of your asks cover?
- One. Each ask from our sourcing desk names one part and goes to one supplier, so a customer's request for three parts can mean several asks to several suppliers.
