How to sell slow-moving car parts stock in the UAE

Updated

The quick answer

Slow-moving parts stock is often not unwanted; it is in the wrong place. A part that sits on a shelf in Sharjah may be exactly what a driver in Abu Dhabi or Ras Al Khaimah is asking for. Listing it online puts it in front of customers across the emirates: of the 1,074 requests that named an emirate between 20 July and 1 November 2026, 671 came from outside Dubai, and 31% of all requests arrived before 08:00 or after 18:00. Send the whole list to Easy Auto, one-off pieces included, with the number on the box and any newer number you know. Every request we receive is checked against it, a lower price in your file lowers ours, and nothing about it promises a sale: it gives the part reach.

Key facts

  • Requests come from every emirate. Of 1,074 requests that named one, Dubai sent 403, Abu Dhabi 281, Sharjah 213, Ajman 80, and the rest came from Ras Al Khaimah, Al Ain, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain.
  • Customers ask for many parts no list holds. Of 304 WhatsApp part lines, 7 October to 2 November 2026, only 10 were found in a stock list we hold; the other 294 had to be sourced by asking suppliers.
  • Shelves hold what lists do not: 124 times in those weeks a supplier we asked said the part was in stock, though it was on no list we held.
  • Requests do not keep shop hours: 430 of 1,380 requests, 31%, arrived before 08:00 or after 18:00, Dubai time.
  • A single piece is worth listing. There is no minimum quantity for a line in your file.
  • The old number on the box and a newer number can both go in your list: the box number as the part number, the newer one in the genuine-number column. Either one finds the line.
  • Your price sets ours: lower your price in the file, or add a discount, and the customer's price follows.

What slow-moving stock is

Slow-moving stock is new stock that has stopped selling at the pace it was bought for: the box that has sat through more than one stock-take, the second of a pair bought for a customer who took one, the run of parts for a model that has grown rare on local roads. The trade also calls it dead stock or old stock. It cost money, it takes shelf space, and it is often still the right part for somebody.

This page is about new parts in that state, and about one way to reach the people who still need them: listing them online through a stock list sent to Easy Auto. Fitted, refurbished and damaged parts are a different trade with different rules, and they are left out of stock lists sent to us.

The mechanism is short. A customer asks Easy Auto for a part. We identify the exact part from the car, its VIN where we have it, a photo of the old part or its label, and catalogue data, then search every stock list we hold by part number and by the genuine numbers the lists cross-reference. If your list holds the part, your line can be offered. If no list holds it, our sourcing desk asks suppliers one part at a time, and a part that is only on your shelf is found only if you are asked and you answer.

Why parts stock stops moving

Parts slow down for ordinary reasons. The cars they fit become rarer near your shop. A newer part number replaces the one on the box, and customers who ask by the new number never hear about yours. A bulk order was bigger than the local market needed. A part was bought for one customer who never came back. None of these makes the part worthless; they make it hard to find for the people who still need it.

The common thread is reach. A counter sells to the people who walk in or phone, and they come from a few kilometres around. Online, the same part can be found by someone at the other end of the country who has been looking for it for a week.

Most of these causes have nothing to do with the part and everything to do with who can see it. That is the half a stock list can change, and the rest of this page is about how.

Where the customers are

Between 20 July and 1 November 2026, 1,074 of the requests Easy Auto received named an emirate (305 did not). Dubai sent the most, but 671, or 62%, came from elsewhere: Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, Sharjah, Ajman and the northern emirates. Much of the UAE's parts trade sits in Sharjah Industrial Area, Ras Al Khor and Mussafah, so many of those customers are some distance from the shops that hold their part.

Read the table from your own row. Even a shop in Dubai, the emirate that asked most, would meet 62% of these requests only by reaching past its own emirate. For a shop in Sharjah the share from elsewhere is 80%, and for a shop in Ajman it is 93%. For many shops, slow stock is a reach problem before it is anything else.

Collection or delivery is agreed with each supplier before the first order, so a part on a shelf in one emirate can reach a customer in another without a new arrangement for each sale.

The long tail: parts on shelves but on no list

Customers ask for a very wide spread of parts, and most of what they ask for is on no list we hold. Of the 304 part lines customers sent Easy Auto on WhatsApp between 7 October and 2 November 2026, 10 were found in a stock list we already held. The other 294 had to be sourced by asking suppliers one part at a time: 488 messages and calls to 52 suppliers.

124 times, a supplier answered that the part was in stock. Each of those parts was on a shelf in the UAE and on no list we held, so it could only be found by a message, and only because the supplier answered. 269 of the 488 asks got no answer at all, so how many more of the parts customers wanted were sitting on a shelf, nobody can say.

This is the long tail, and slow stock lives in it: one request for one part for one car, spread thinly across the whole country. A single counter rarely sees enough of those requests to make a slow part move. A list has the part checked against every request Easy Auto receives instead of the few that reach one counter.

Requests do not keep shop hours

Of the 1,380 requests made through Easy Auto's website forms and first WhatsApp bot between 20 July and 1 November 2026, 950 (69%) arrived between 08:00 and 18:00, Dubai time. 305 arrived between 18:00 and midnight and 125 between midnight and 08:00: 31% in all outside a 08:00 to 18:00 day.

For slow stock this matters more than for fast stock. A fast line sells to whoever walks in. A slow line sells to the one customer who needs it, whenever that customer happens to ask, and that may be after your shutters are down or on your day off. A line on a list does not depend on who is at the counter when the request arrives; a part known only to the person at the counter does.

List everything, including the one-offs

It is tempting to send only the lines that sell. For slow stock the opposite works better: the part a customer is hunting for is often the odd one at the back of a shelf, and it can only be offered if it is on a list. Send the whole list, fast and slow lines together, in one file.

A line with a quantity of one is a perfectly good line. If your list says In and Out rather than counting pieces, that works too, and if some parts only go out in boxes, say so in the note: minimums are agreed as part of your terms.

Listing an old one-off takes four things. First, the part number exactly as printed on the box or label; spaces, dashes, dots and slashes do not matter, because numbers are compared as capital letters and digits only. Second, the brand as it appears on the box; brand spellings are cleaned to our brand names once and remembered, and a spelling that says genuine keeps the genuine flag. Third, the quantity, even if it is one. Fourth, your price. A line with all four loads as priced stock; the extras in the table help it be found.

What to put in each column for an old one-off line
ColumnWhat to putWhy it matters
Part numberThe number exactly as printed on the boxRequired; it is what a request is matched to
BrandThe brand as it appears on the boxRequired; a genuine spelling keeps the genuine flag
QuantityThe real count, even one, or InRequired for the line to load as priced stock
PriceYour price today, lowered if you want the part to moveRequired; the customer's price is set from it
Genuine (OE) numberThe carmaker's number, if the box shows it or you know itA customer's request is often turned into a genuine number first
Newer numberThe number that replaced the one on the box, in the genuine-number columnCatalogues and many customers ask by the newer one
DescriptionWhat the part is and, for body or lighting parts, the sideCustomers ask by side, and the description carries it

Old numbers and new numbers

Carmakers replace part numbers over time, and stock bought under the old number keeps it on the box. Catalogues and many customers ask by the newer one. If you know the newer number, add it to the genuine-number column, where a cell can hold several numbers, beside the old number in the part-number column. Either number then finds your line.

If you do not know the newer number, list the part anyway, with the number exactly as printed on the box and the brand. That is still the most reliable way for us to match it.

Old stock often carries numbers written the old way, and they can be sent as they are. A cell like 31410-12300/2 is read as two numbers, because the short part after the slash replaces the end of the number, so it also means 31410-12302. A cell can also hold several full numbers. What does not work is a number retyped from memory: if one digit is wrong, the line can never be matched to a request for the right part.

Pricing old stock to move

Your price is what we pay you, and the price a customer sees is set by our pricing rules from yours. So if you want an old line to move, lower your price for it in the file. The customer's price follows on the next load. You do not need to tell us why, and you can raise it again in a later file.

If you would rather not edit prices line by line, a discount does the same job. A discount column marks down the lines you choose, or one fixed discount rate can apply to the whole list. Either way the discount is read with the line, and the customer's price follows from the result.

Say once whether your prices include VAT, and give your tax registration number if you are VAT registered. Prices in AED, USD or EUR are accepted, and the exchange rate used is recorded with the line. Customers see Easy Auto's price, not yours, and do not see which supplier a part comes from, so a lower price in your file is the lever you hold; what price will make a particular part move is not something anyone can tell you in advance.

What you change in the file, and what happens on our side
What you changeWhat happens

What to leave out

Stock lists with Easy Auto are for new parts. A new part that has sat in its box for years is still a new part and belongs on the list. Anything that has been fitted to a car, refurbished, rebuilt or damaged in storage does not, and lines that are not new are set aside rather than loaded.

Lines are also set aside, never deleted, when they cannot be used as they stand: no part number, a part number that cannot be read, no brand, no price, a warehouse code we do not know, or a duplicate. A list with no prices at all is not set aside; it is kept as ask-first, which means that when a customer wants a part on it, we ask you first.

When you are unsure whether an old part still counts as new, say so in the note when you send the file. A person checks every file and contacts you before anything goes live, so a question in the note is settled in that conversation.

The rules that touch clearing old stock

Clearing old stock is ordinary trade, but five UAE rules bear on what a supplier does with it. They are set out here as the laws state them, read on 4 November 2026.

Announcing a discount needs permission first. The Executive Regulations of the consumer protection law, Cabinet Resolution No. 66 of 2023, require a seller that makes and announces discounts, by any means, to obtain a prior licence from the competent authority (Article 31). A sign or a post advertising a clearance sale to your own customers would be one way of announcing a discount.

A part that came back with a defect cannot go back on sale online. In the article on defects discovered in goods, the same regulations prohibit reselling or displaying withdrawn or returned goods on electronic sales platforms (Article 20). A box a customer returned with a fault belongs out of your list.

Copies that carry someone else's brand cannot be sold at any price. Federal Decree-Law No. 42 of 2023 on commercial fraud, in force since 29 November 2023, defines counterfeit goods as goods bearing, without permission, a trademark identical or similar to a registered one, and prohibits displaying, selling, storing or holding them for sale (Articles 1 and 4). A seller is not excused because the buyer knew (Article 6).

Some part types need a conformity certificate before they are offered. The UAE Scheme for Automotive Spare Parts, Cabinet Resolution No. 12 of 2018, has applied since 1 May 2018. Its schedule includes braking systems, brake pads, engine radiators, rear-view mirrors, lead-acid starter batteries, oil filters and air filters, and offering a part includes storing and marketing it as well as selling it. The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology now issues the certificates through its ECAS service.

And old stock must be described as it is. The consumer protection law prohibits describing goods with false data or advertising them misleadingly (Federal Law No. 15 of 2020, Article 17), and its regulations count a description as deceptive if it misleads about the country of origin, the producer or the trademark (Article 8). List the brand printed on the box, not the brand the part resembles.

This section is a summary of the law for orientation, not legal advice; each rule can be checked in the law named in the table, on the UAE Legislation Portal, and the certificate scheme with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology.

Signs your stock has stopped moving, and what to do

Slow stock gives itself away in the same few ways. The table puts each sign beside its usual cause and the change that addresses it. None of the fixes guarantees a sale; each one removes a reason the part is not being found.

How to choose what to send first

Start with what you have, in whatever form it is in. The upload form takes CSV, TSV, TXT, XLSX, XLS, PDF, JPG, PNG and WEBP files up to 4 MB; bigger files go by a download link or by email to hello@easyauto.ae. Where you can, save a spreadsheet as XLSX or as a UTF-8 CSV rather than an old XLS workbook. It asks for your business name, a WhatsApp number or an email (one is enough), the file and an optional note. There is no account, no sign-up and no card.

The table matches the usual states of a parts shop's stock records to what to send. If your stock fits more than one row, send what you have now and improve it in the next file: a person maps the first file to our columns, and every later file in the same layout loads the same way.

How long a line stays listed

A line stays listed for as long as your files keep it. When a new file arrives without a part that was in the last one, that part is marked unavailable, never deleted, and it returns when it reappears in a later file. If you prefer, a missing part can be kept for three days before it is marked unavailable.

Lists also go stale. A list sent by hand goes stale after 30 days without a new copy; a file that arrives automatically every day goes stale after 3 days without one. Stale prices are shown as stale and are not sold online until a fresh file loads, so for slow stock sent by hand the practical rule is a fresh copy at least once a month.

When you sell a listed slow part at your own counter, take it off the next file or lower its quantity. Otherwise an order can arrive for a part that has already gone, which costs you and the customer time.

What listing cannot promise

No one can promise that a slow part will sell, and we do not. Listing means every request Easy Auto receives is checked against your line; whether a customer asks for that part, and accepts the price, is outside anyone's control. Some parts for rare cars will wait a long time.

What listing changes is what waiting asks of you. A line on a list needs nothing from you while it waits: no messages to answer and nothing to arrange per request. You hear from us when a part has been ordered, and the order names the part number, the brand, the quantity, your price and the location it comes from.

The terms are agreed with each supplier before the first order and recorded on our side: how orders reach you, collection or delivery, any minimum order, the price basis, invoicing, payment and returns. Nothing about them is set by this page.

Questions suppliers ask

What counts as slow-moving or dead stock?
New stock that has stopped selling at the pace it was bought for: parts for cars that have grown rare nearby, surplus from a bulk order, one of a pair, or parts under a number that has been replaced. It is still new stock, and it can be listed.
Is there a minimum quantity to list a part?
No. A single piece is a line like any other. Lists that only say In and Out are fine too.
Can I list parts for old or discontinued models?
Yes, as long as they are new. Parts for rarer cars can be hard for customers to find, so they are worth listing.
Can I list parts that have been in the box for years?
Yes, if it is still new: never fitted and undamaged. Time on the shelf alone does not stop a part being new. List it with the number on the box and, if you know it, the newer number.
Can I list fitted, refurbished or damaged parts?
No. Stock lists with Easy Auto are for new parts, and lines that are not new are set aside rather than loaded. If you are unsure about a part, say so in the note.
The number on the box has been replaced. What do I put?
The number on the box, and the newer one in the genuine-number column if you know it. Either number then finds the line.
Can I lower the price of old stock?
Yes. Change your price in the file. Your price is what we pay you, and the customer's price is set from it, so it follows on the next load.
Can I mark old stock down with a discount instead?
Yes. A discount column marks down the lines you choose, or one fixed rate can apply to the whole list. The discount is read with each line.
Do I need permission to advertise a sale on old stock?
Yes. The consumer protection regulations (Cabinet Resolution No. 66 of 2023, Article 31) require a prior licence from the competent authority before a seller announces discounts by any means. This is a summary for orientation, not legal advice.
Can I list a part a customer returned because it was faulty?
No. The consumer protection regulations (Cabinet Resolution No. 66 of 2023, Article 20) prohibit reselling or displaying goods withdrawn or returned for a defect on electronic sales platforms. This is a summary for orientation, not legal advice.
Where do part requests come from in the UAE?
From every emirate. Of 1,074 requests that named one, 20 July to 1 November 2026, 62% came from outside Dubai, led by Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
Do customers ask for parts outside working hours?
Yes. 31% of 1,380 requests arrived before 08:00 or after 18:00, Dubai time, between 20 July and 1 November 2026.
Do I have to deliver to other emirates?
Collection or delivery is agreed with each supplier before the first order: your own drivers, or we collect. Either way it is settled once, not for each sale.
Should I send only my slow lines?
No. Send the whole list in one file. The slow lines are found by the same requests as the fast ones, and one file is easier to keep current.
What if I sell a listed part at my own counter?
Take it off your next file or lower its quantity. A part missing from a new file is marked unavailable, not deleted, and returns if it reappears.
Will my slow stock definitely sell?
No one can promise that. Listing it means every request we receive is checked against it, which can reach customers a counter never sees on its own.
How long does a line stay listed?
Until a file you send no longer contains it, when it is marked unavailable. A list sent by hand also goes stale after 30 days without a new copy, and stale prices are not sold online.
