A Toyota cooling system in a UAE July

A cooling system is sized to shed the engine's waste heat with some margin to spare. In a Dubai or Al Ain summer that margin shrinks. The air coming through the grille is already hot, the AC condenser in front of the radiator adds its own heat to that air, and in slow traffic the only airflow is whatever the fan can pull through. That is the moment a tired part gives itself away: a fan that runs slow, a radiator half blocked with dust and insects, or a cap that no longer holds pressure.

The parts are much the same across the range, but the load is not. A Corolla or Yaris idling in a mall car park queue with the AC on full leans on its fan. A Camry or RAV4 on a long highway run leans on the radiator and water pump. A Land Cruiser or Prado towing, or crawling through soft sand at walking pace with the AC running, asks the most of every part at once with almost no natural airflow.

Most of the parts that fail are inexpensive next to what they protect. A split hose or a stuck thermostat replaced the week it shows up is a small job. The same fault driven on until the needle reaches the red can warp a cylinder head.

What the Toyota cooling range covers, and how each part fails

The stock table near the top of the page lists every part type with the brands we hold, and most of the lines are genuine Toyota. The table below is the practical side: what each part does, how it usually fails in this climate, and what to check before you order so the first part you buy is the right one.

The AC side of the range is smaller. We hold some AC compressors, mostly genuine Toyota, a few condensers and a set of genuine AC seals and fittings. If the AC part your car needs is not in the table, send the number anyway and we will check it, but we would rather say plainly that this is mainly an engine cooling range.

Reading a Toyota's temperature gauge and AC before you buy

When and where the problem shows up narrows the list quickly. The table below is how we read it on a chat. A garage can confirm the cause with a cooling system pressure test and a temperature check across the radiator, which takes minutes and saves buying a part you did not need.

If the gauge has gone into the red, stop as soon as it is safe, switch the AC off and let the engine cool before anyone opens the cap. A hot system is under pressure and can spray scalding coolant.

Genuine Toyota or aftermarket for cooling parts

Most of our Toyota cooling lines are genuine, with aftermarket radiators, water pumps and thermostats alongside them from brands including STELLOX, NPW and FEBEST. The comparison table under this section shows typical prices for the part types where we hold both.

Hoses are the clearest case for genuine. A Toyota hose is moulded to the bends of one engine bay, and a near-fit hose that rubs on a bracket or kinks at a corner fails early in the heat. Our hose lines are overwhelmingly genuine Toyota, so for most models the genuine hose is the one we will quote.

Thermostats and water pumps are where an aftermarket part makes sense if budget matters, provided it is the right part for the engine and comes with its seal or gasket. Check the opening temperature: a replacement thermostat should open at the same temperature as the one it replaces. For an AC compressor, genuine deserves a serious look, because a compressor failure can spread debris through the rest of the system and turn one part into several.

A note on reading that comparison table: each typical price is a median across lines for many different engines and models, so it shows the size of the gap, not the price of your part. Ask us for both quotes on your exact part and compare those.

PartGenuine Toyota, typicalAftermarket, typical
Radiator and coolant hoses and pipesAED 58AED 66

Medians across the lines we hold of each kind. A typical price is not the price of one part: two lines of the same name can be for different models.

Parts that belong in the same Toyota cooling order

Cooling repairs go wrong when one part is renewed and its neighbour is reused. A thermostat needs a new seal or O-ring, and genuine Toyota thermostat O-rings are part of this range for that reason. A water pump needs its gasket and fresh coolant. A hose is only as good as its clamps, and a new radiator under an old cap can still boil over.

Refill with the coolant named in your owner's manual, mixed the way it says, and not with tap water. Water on its own boils sooner, leaves scale inside the radiator, and gives the water pump and the aluminium parts no protection against corrosion.

On the AC side, a replacement compressor is normally fitted with a new receiver drier and the correct oil, after the system has been flushed. A garage that skips those steps puts the new compressor at risk.

Matching the cooling part to your exact Toyota

Send the chassis number from the mulkiya and, if you know it, the engine. One model name can split several ways. The XV70 Camry, for example, was built with 2.0 and 2.5 litre four-cylinder engines, a 3.5 litre V6 and a hybrid, so its water pump, hoses and thermostat parts are not one part for every car.

Radiators often come in two versions for the same car: one for an automatic gearbox, with a cooler for the gearbox fluid built into it, and one for a manual. Cars built for different markets can also differ in radiator or fan setup, so a US or Japanese import is not always the same as the GCC car of the same year. The chassis number answers both questions.

Then tell us which hose, upper, lower or heater, which fan if there are two, and whether the AC gives no cold at all or loses it only when the car stops. A clear photo of the old part with any number on it saves a round of messages.

Toyota cooling and AC parts: questions

Do you hold genuine Toyota radiators, or only aftermarket ones?
Both, though most of the radiators on the shelf are aftermarket; the stock table lists their brands. Send the chassis number and say whether the car is automatic or manual, and we quote the genuine and the aftermarket radiator for that car where we hold both.
What usually makes a Toyota overheat in summer traffic but not on the highway?
Air across the radiator at low speed. That points first at the cooling fan, its motor or its relay, then at a condenser and radiator face clogged with dust and insects. A garage can watch whether the fan switches on and runs at full speed as the engine warms.
Should the thermostat be replaced when the water pump is changed?
It is often worth doing both at once. The system is drained for either job, the thermostat is not an expensive part, and changing it while the coolant is out saves draining it again later. It is not compulsory if the thermostat is known to be recent.
Can I top up my Toyota with plain water in an emergency?
To get home, clean water is better than running low, but only once the engine has cooled and never by opening a hot cap. Afterwards have the system drained and refilled with the coolant your owner's manual names, so the protection against boiling and corrosion is restored.
Why does my Toyota AC go warm at traffic lights and recover when I drive?
At a standstill the condenser depends on the fan for airflow. A weak fan, a slow fan motor or a condenser clogged with dust shows up exactly like that. A slightly low refrigerant charge can do the same, so have the pressures checked as well.
Do you sell AC compressors for Toyota models?
We hold some, mostly genuine Toyota, plus condensers and AC seals. Send the chassis number and we check whether your compressor is on the shelf. Plan for a flush, a new drier and the correct oil with it, or the new compressor carries the old one's debris.
Which Toyota radiator hose do I need, upper or lower?
The upper hose runs from the engine's coolant outlet to the top of the radiator. The lower hose runs from the bottom of the radiator back to the water pump side. Heater hoses run to the cabin heater. A photo of the leaking hose in place tells us which one.
Is a radiator for an automatic Toyota different from one for a manual?
Often, yes. On many cars the automatic version has a cooler for the gearbox fluid built into the radiator, with extra pipe connections, and the manual version does not. Tell us the gearbox or send the chassis number and we pick the right one.
Do I need to know the Toyota part number before I message you?
No. The chassis number from the mulkiya and a description or photo of the part are enough. If you do have a part number from the old part or a garage quote, send it too, and we check it against the chassis number before quoting.
When will my Toyota cooling parts arrive?
The parts on this page sit in UAE stock. The dated stock line under the quick answer gives the delivery window at that date, and once you tell us your emirate on WhatsApp we confirm the delivery day along with the price.
Can you replace the radiator or water pump on my car?
No, we supply and deliver the parts and your garage fits them. If you need a workshop, the UAE shops listed lower on this page are a place to start, and any of them can pressure test the system first to confirm which part has failed.
