One stack of heat at the front of the car
Behind the grille of an Accent, an Elantra or a Tucson sit two heat exchangers, one in front of the other. The AC condenser is at the front, shedding the heat taken out of the cabin. The engine radiator is behind it, breathing air that the condenser has already warmed. An electric fan pulls air through both whenever the car is too slow for the wind to do it.
In a UAE summer that stack carries the heaviest load it will ever see. The air arriving at the grille can already be in the forties, the AC is on full from the first minute, and a car crawling through traffic at rush hour gets almost no ram air. A small-engined Accent or Elantra working hard to keep a full cabin cool is doing exactly what it was designed for, but with no margin to spare, so a partly blocked condenser, a fan that has slowed or a cap that no longer holds pressure is enough to tip it over.
Sand and insects pack the fins of the condenser first, because it sits in front. Rinsing it gently from behind during a service is cheap insurance. Bending the fins flat with a pressure washer is not.
Gauge, puddle or warm air: finding the failing part
Cooling faults show up in three ways: the temperature needle moves, coolant appears where it should not, or the AC stops keeping up. The table maps each to the part we would look at first on a Hyundai. A garage can confirm most of them with a pressure test of the system and a look at the fan with the AC switched on.
| What you notice | Look at first | What to send us |
|---|---|---|
| Needle climbs in traffic but settles on the highway | Cooling fan not running, or a blocked condenser or radiator | A video of the fan with the AC switched on |
| Needle climbs on the highway as well | Thermostat stuck shut, water pump, or a clogged radiator | The chassis number and how long it has been happening |
| Needle sits low and fuel use goes up | Thermostat stuck open | The chassis number; the thermostat is engine-specific |
| Sweet smell and coloured drips at the front | A hose, a radiator tank or the water pump seal | A photo of where the drip lands |
| Coolant level falls with no puddle | Reservoir or radiator cap, then a pressure test | A photo of the cap and its markings |
| AC cold on the move, warm at the lights | Condenser blocked or the fan not running | Whether the fan spins with the AC on |
| Whirring at the front that changes when the AC clicks on or off | AC compressor pulley bearing | A short video with the sound on |
| AC goes warm soon after a repair on the pipes | Line seals not replaced | Which pipe was opened |
Thermostats, caps and hoses are engine-specific
The small parts in a Hyundai cooling system are where a near miss is easiest. Take thermostats. Two of the thermostats on our shelf look much alike, but one opens at 82 degrees and the other at 88, and the part maker lists them for different engines: the first against the Santa Fe II, the Grandeur and some Sonata versions, the second against the i30, the Elantra VI, the Accent III and other Sonata versions. The same Sonata generation appears in both lists, which shows that the engine under the bonnet decides the part, not the badge. A thermostat that opens at the wrong temperature leaves the engine running too hot or too cool, and the engine computer notices.
Caps are a second trap. Whether your Hyundai's pressure cap sits on the radiator or on the reservoir depends on the model, and either way its job is to hold the system at pressure so the coolant boils at a higher temperature. A cap whose seal has gone soft lets coolant escape as vapour, the level falls with no puddle, and the engine runs closer to boiling on every hot afternoon. We hold genuine Hyundai caps, and they are among the least expensive parts in the system to rule out.
Radiator hoses are moulded to the shape of one engine bay, so a hose for an Accent IV is not a hose for an Elantra even if the diameter looks right. We hold genuine Hyundai hoses as well as FEBEST hoses for some models. When a hose has gone hard or swollen near the clamp, its partner on the other end of the radiator is usually the same age, and changing both in one visit saves a second drain.
The AC parts we hold for Hyundai
On the AC side, condensers make up most of what we hold. The part makers list them for models including the Accent IV, the Elantra IV and the i30, and a stone chip or a corroded corner is the usual reason a condenser needs replacing. We also hold AC compressors for some models, the ix35 among them, and the O-ring seal sets that must be renewed whenever an AC pipe is opened.
The compressor pulley bearing is worth knowing about. The pulley spins all the time the engine runs, even with the AC off, and when its bearing wears it whirrs or rumbles. Replacing the bearing can save a compressor that is otherwise healthy, if your garage confirms the noise is the pulley and not the compressor itself, so ask us to check the bearing for your car before anyone condemns the compressor.
We supply the parts; the refrigerant work is your garage's job. A replacement compressor or condenser needs the system evacuated, the drier or receiver changed, the correct oil, new seals and a vacuum test before regassing. If the tables do not show the AC part your Hyundai needs, ask and we will price it on request.
Genuine Hyundai or aftermarket in the cooling system
We hold genuine Hyundai cooling parts beside aftermarket radiators and condensers, most of them STELLOX, and FEBEST hoses and thermostats. Typical prices for both sit in the comparison table next to this section, for the part types where we hold enough of each to compare. A typical price is the middle of every line under one heading, and those lines are for many different engines, so ask for the exact part by chassis number and compare like with like.
A practical split: caps, thermostats and hoses are small, cheap and engine-specific, so genuine Hyundai is the safest route if we have the number. Radiators and condensers are larger parts where a properly specified aftermarket unit is a reasonable saving, particularly on an older Accent or Elantra. Two different radiators on our shelf both list the Elantra V, so which one is yours depends on the engine and gearbox fitted, and the chassis number tells us that.
| Part | Genuine Hyundai, typical | Aftermarket, typical |
|---|---|---|
| Radiator and coolant hoses and pipes | AED 68 | AED 52 |
| Thermostats | AED 101 | AED 32 |
Medians across the lines we hold of each kind. A typical price is not the price of one part: two lines of the same name can be for different models.

Hyundai cooling and AC parts: questions
- My Accent's temperature gauge rises at traffic lights with the AC on. What should I check?
- Start with the cooling fan: with the engine running and the AC on, it should spin. If it does, check the condenser and radiator fins for packed sand and debris. A fan that does not run is usually the fan motor, its relay or fuse, or the wiring, and a garage can test each.
- Which thermostat does my Hyundai need, 82 or 88 degrees?
- It depends on the engine, not the model name. Our shelf holds both, listed for different engines, and the same Sonata generation appears against each. Send the chassis number and we match the opening temperature your engine was built with.
- Is an aftermarket radiator a sensible choice for an older Elantra?
- For an older car, a properly specified aftermarket radiator is a reasonable saving. What matters is the right one for your engine and gearbox, because two radiators can both list the same Elantra. We confirm that from the chassis number before quoting.
- What coolant should go back in after a Hyundai radiator change?
- Use the coolant type given in your owner's manual and mix it as the label says. Do not top up with plain water, which lowers the boiling point and protects nothing from corrosion, and do not mix coolant types; flush the old one out first.
- Why does my Hyundai's AC go warm when I am stuck in traffic?
- At walking speed the condenser relies entirely on the fan. If the fan is weak or the condenser is clogged, the refrigerant cannot shed its heat and the air from the vents warms up. On the highway the moving air hides the problem.
- Do you have an AC compressor for my Tucson or ix35?
- The part makers list some of the compressors on our shelf for the ix35, which is how the second-generation Tucson appears in their catalogues. Send the chassis number and we confirm the exact unit. Your garage must flush the system and change the drier when fitting it.
- What is an AC compressor pulley bearing, and can you supply one?
- It is the bearing inside the AC compressor pulley. A worn one whirrs or rumbles whenever the engine runs, and the sound often changes when the AC is switched on or off. Replacing the bearing alone can be cheaper than a compressor when the compressor itself is sound. Send the chassis number and we check the bearing for your car.
- Is it worth replacing the reservoir cap on its own?
- Yes, if coolant keeps disappearing without a puddle or the system will not hold pressure. The cap is inexpensive and a worn seal lets coolant escape as vapour. It is the first thing to rule out before anyone talks about the head gasket.
- My water pump has a drip from a small hole underneath. Is that serious?
- That hole is a weep hole, and coolant from it means the pump's internal seal is failing. It will get worse, and a pump that fails completely can overheat the engine quickly. Plan the replacement soon, and change the drive belt if it is worn.
- Can you supply a radiator fan for my Hyundai?
- If the tables on this page do not list a fan for your model, ask on WhatsApp with the chassis number. We can price a genuine Hyundai fan or fan motor on request and confirm the delivery day before you pay.
- Will a GCC Hyundai and an imported one take the same radiator?
- Often, but not always. Market versions can differ in engine, gearbox and equipment, and each can change the radiator or condenser. The chassis number on the mulkiya settles it, which is why we ask for it before every cooling quote.
- Do you fit radiators or regas the AC?
- No. We sell the parts, deliver them across the UAE and send a card payment link once you approve the quote. Your own garage does the fitting and the refrigerant work, and the shops listed on this page are a starting point.
