What the Kia cooling shelf covers, and what it does not
This is a shorter range than our Kia suspension and brake shelves, and it is worth being clear about its shape. It covers radiators, AC condensers, water pumps, radiator hoses and thermostats, with a smaller number of AC compressors, AC line seal kits, a compressor clutch bearing and radiator mounting rubbers and seals, and very little in the way of fans. Most lines are STELLOX and FEBEST, and some radiators, water pumps and thermostats are genuine Kia.
The model list above shows where it is strongest: the Rio across three generations, then the Sportage, Sorento, Cee'd and Stonic. If you drive one of those, there is a fair chance the part is on the shelf. If you drive a Sorento, Sportage, Optima or K5 and need something the tables do not show, ask anyway. We price the genuine Kia part on request against your chassis number.
| Part | Its job | How it usually tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Radiator | Sheds engine heat into the air | Coolant loss, crusty seams on the plastic tanks, rising gauge |
| Thermostat | Holds coolant in the engine until it is warm | Gauge too low, or climbing quickly to hot |
| Water pump | Moves coolant round the engine | Drip from the weep hole, a whine or grinding at the pulley |
| Radiator hoses | Carry coolant between engine and radiator | Soft, swollen or cracked rubber, wet clamps |
| Radiator mounting rubber | Cushions the radiator in its frame | Rattle at the front, a radiator that moves |
| AC condenser | Sheds cabin heat, in front of the radiator | AC weak at standstill, oily patch on the fins |
| AC compressor | Pumps refrigerant round the AC | No cold air, noise when the AC switches on |
| AC line O-ring set | Seals each joint in the AC pipes | Slow refrigerant loss at a joint |
| Compressor clutch bearing | Lets the pulley spin when the AC is off | Rumble from the compressor with the AC off |
Manual or automatic, 82 or 88 degrees: details that split Kia cooling parts
Two Kias of the same model and year can need different cooling parts, and the differences are easy to miss on a photo. Radiators are the clearest case. For the third-generation Rio the catalogue lists one radiator for the manual gearbox and another for the automatic, because on many automatics the radiator also carries the gearbox oil cooler, with extra pipe connections to match. Say which gearbox your car has when you ask.
Thermostats are the second trap. The FEBEST thermostats on this shelf are made in more than one opening temperature: some open at 82 degrees and are catalogued for the first two Sorento generations, the Carnival and the Cadenza, while others open at 88 degrees and are catalogued for the third-generation Sportage, the Soul, Seltos, Optima and Rio. They can look almost identical. A thermostat that opens too early leaves the engine running cooler than it was designed to, and one that opens too late runs it hot, so match the temperature to the engine, not to whatever fits the housing.
Hoses and pumps follow the engine. Hoses are moulded to one engine bay, so a hose catalogued for the Rio and Stonic is no use on a Sportage unless the catalogue says so, and a water pump can differ by engine even inside one model. The chassis number lets us read the engine without you having to look for it.
| Part | Detail that changes the part | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|
| Radiator | Manual or automatic gearbox | The gear lever, or the chassis number |
| Thermostat | Engine, and so the opening temperature | Chassis number, or the number stamped on the old one |
| Water pump | Engine family | Chassis number |
| Radiator hose | Upper or lower, and the engine | Which end of the radiator it joins |
| AC condenser | Model generation | Chassis number |
| AC compressor | Engine and generation | Chassis number, plus the label on the old unit |
Small Kia engines, big AC loads: why the cooling system works hard here
Kia UAE lists the Picanto it sells new here with an 83 horsepower engine. In a UAE summer a small engine like that can spend much of the day idling in traffic with the AC compressor running, and the AC condenser dumps its heat straight into the air the radiator has to breathe. On a 45 degree afternoon at a long set of lights there is not much margin left.
That is why the first signs of a tired cooling system on a small Kia usually show in traffic rather than on the highway. The temperature gauge creeps up while you wait and drops again once the car moves, or the AC turns warm at standstill and recovers at speed. Both point first to airflow: the radiator fan, its relay, or fins packed with sand and insects, before they point to the pump or the radiator itself.
Cleaning the fins is free and often makes a real difference. With the engine cold, a garden hose run gently from the engine side outwards pushes the sand back the way it came. A pressure washer flattens the fins and makes things worse.
The Kia AC parts we hold, and the rules that go with them
Our Kia AC range is narrow. It is mostly condensers, catalogued for models such as the Picanto and Rio, a few compressors catalogued for models such as the third-generation Rio, AC line O-ring sets and a compressor clutch bearing. For any other Kia AC part, ask and we price it.
Whichever part you buy, a few rules decide whether the repair lasts. A compressor that failed internally sheds metal through the system, so a new compressor goes in with the pipes flushed, a new receiver drier, which on many cars is built into the condenser, and the correct grade and amount of oil, or it fails again. Every joint that is opened gets new O-rings, which is what the seal sets are for. A condenser damaged by a stone or by a front-end knock is replaced rather than patched.
The refrigerant type is printed on a label under the bonnet. Read it rather than guess from the year, and give it to the garage doing the regas.
Genuine Kia radiators and thermostats, or aftermarket
Our Kia cooling range is mostly aftermarket, with genuine Kia lines among the radiators, water pumps and thermostats. No single part type here has enough genuine lines for a fair typical-price comparison, so the useful comparison is a genuine and an aftermarket quote for the one part your car takes.
On radiators, the parts that age in the heat are the plastic end tanks and the seams that join them to the core, so look at the tank construction on whichever you choose, not only the badge. On thermostats, the opening temperature matters more than the brand. If you would rather fit genuine Kia, ask for both prices on the same chat and decide with the real figures for your car.
Getting the right Kia cooling part to your garage
Send the chassis number from your mulkiya first. Kia names have moved on in the UAE: the Rio has been succeeded by a car sold here as the K3, launched in the GCC at the end of 2023, and the Optima became the K5. Rio parts on this shelf are for the Rio generations, and a K3 is matched separately.
Then tell us the gearbox, which part and which end, and send a photo of the old part with any number on it. We check the part against the chassis number, quote on WhatsApp, and deliver across the UAE once you have paid by card link. The stock line near the top of the page shows how soon parts are ready.
We do not fit parts. Your garage does, and after any cooling job it needs to refill with the coolant Kia specifies for the engine and bleed the air out of the system, or the new part can be blamed for an overheat that is really an airlock.

Cooling parts for other makes
Kia cooling and AC parts: questions
- Do you hold radiators for the Kia Rio?
- The Rio is where our Kia cooling range is strongest, with radiators catalogued for the third-generation car among others. Send your chassis number and say manual or automatic, and we confirm the exact radiator before quoting.
- Is the Rio radiator different for manual and automatic cars?
- For the third-generation Rio, yes: the catalogue lists separate radiators for the manual and the automatic. On many cars the difference is a gearbox oil cooler built into the automatic radiator, with extra pipe connections, so the two do not swap.
- Which thermostat does my Kia need, 82 or 88 degrees?
- It depends on the engine. The thermostats on this shelf are catalogued at 82 degrees for some older Kia engines and 88 degrees for others, such as the engines in the third-generation Sportage, the Seltos and the Rio. The chassis number tells us which yours needs.
- Will a cooler-opening thermostat stop my Kia overheating?
- No. A thermostat only decides when coolant starts flowing to the radiator; it does not add cooling capacity. If the car runs hot in traffic, look at the fan, the radiator fins and the coolant level before changing the thermostat rating.
- My Picanto's AC is weak in traffic but fine on the highway. Is it the condenser?
- Possibly, but check airflow first. That pattern usually means the condenser is not getting enough air at standstill, from a fan fault or fins packed with sand. If the fins are clean and the fan runs, the condenser itself is next.
- Do you have an AC compressor for my Kia?
- We hold a few compressors, catalogued for models such as the third-generation Rio. For other Kias, send the chassis number and the label from the old compressor, and we price the right unit on request.
- Why should the O-rings be replaced when an AC pipe is opened?
- Because an O-ring that has been compressed once does not seal reliably a second time. A reused ring is a common cause of slow refrigerant loss after an AC repair, and a seal set costs very little.
- Can you supply a genuine Kia radiator?
- Some genuine Kia radiators are on the shelf, and the rest we price on request. Send the chassis number and say manual or automatic; we quote genuine and aftermarket side by side where both exist for your car.
- Is a K3 radiator the same as a Rio radiator?
- Do not assume so. The K3 sold in the GCC since late 2023 succeeded the Rio, but it is a different car. We match the part to the chassis number rather than to the model name.
- How do I know my Kia's water pump is failing?
- Look for a coolant trail or crusty deposit below the pump's weep hole, listen for a whine or grinding from the pulley, and watch for coolant that keeps dropping with no other leak. A garage can confirm by checking for play in the pulley.
- Should the hoses be changed when the Kia radiator is replaced?
- If they are original and the car has some years on it, it is sensible. Hoses harden and crack in the heat, and fitting a new radiator to old hoses means draining the system again when one of them fails.
- Do you fit radiators or regas the AC?
- No. We supply and deliver the parts across the UAE, and you pay by card link. Your own garage fits them and handles the refrigerant; the shops listed on this page are a starting point if you need one.
