Depo headlights and car lamps in the UAE

Headlamps, tail lamps and other vehicle lamps, auto mirrors and collision parts

Depo is a trademark of its owner. We are not an authorised Depo dealer or distributor, and nothing here is endorsed by them. The name and mark are shown to say which parts we quote and source.

The quick answer

Depo is the brand of DEPO Auto Parts Ind. Co., Ltd., a Taiwanese lamp maker whose predecessor began in 1977 as a wholesaler of auto lamp parts, took the DEPO name in 2002 and has been listed on the Taiwan stock market since 2004. Depo's own FAQ lists its products as auto lamps, auto mirrors and collision parts, made in Taiwan and at five lamp plants in mainland China, four labelled OEM and one labelled aftermarket. Depo says it sells wholesale only, so a UAE buyer reaches it through a trade seller, and it names no UAE distributor. It names no vehicle maker as a customer either, so the claim that Depo is OEM is something to ask a seller about, not a fact this page can state.

Key facts

  • Depo is the brand of DEPO Auto Parts Ind. Co., Ltd. of Taiwan. Its Lukang plant is also its headquarters, and the company is listed on the Taiwan stock market under stock code 6605.
  • The company's predecessor, Ming Yang, started in May 1977 as a wholesaler of auto lamp parts. Depo dates the DEPO brand to March 1991 and the company's renaming as DEPO to August 2002.
  • Depo's FAQ lists its products as auto lamps, auto mirrors and collision parts. Its Taiwan plants are named for headlamps at Xinying and for tail, fog, turn signal and side marker lamps at Lukang.
  • Depo lists five lamp plants in mainland China. Four are described as OEM for auto lamps and one, at Danyang, as research, development and production for AM auto lamps.
  • Depo says the certificates it can provide are ECE, SAE/DOT, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and TS 16949, and that several of its products are CAPA approved. It does not say which products.
  • Depo says it sells wholesale only and will help a buyer find a distributor in their area. For a defective lamp it tells the buyer to go back to the vendor, which files the complaint with Depo.
  • Depo has a Middle East and Africa sales contact area but names no UAE distributor and no vehicle maker as an original-equipment customer.
  • Depo says its newer green-to-yellow logo is used mainly in exhibitions, marketing and some international markets, while shipped packaging keeps the classic solid green beam pattern.

Original equipment

We name no vehicle maker as a Depo customer, because Depo names none on any page we read, including its history, location, FAQ, contact and news pages. Four of its mainland China plants are described as OEM for auto lamps, and that label is the whole of what is published. The letters OEM are used loosely, and Depo's wording does not say whether it means lamps built for vehicle makers' assembly lines or lamps built to a customer's specification for another purpose, or for whom. Depo's own description of its award-winning Eco headlamp calls it an aftermarket headlamp. So whether a given car left the factory on a Depo lamp is not something this page can tell you. The vehicle maker's catalogue or the seller's paperwork is where that gets settled.

Where it is made

  • Taiwan

Depo's home. Its Lukang plant, which is also its headquarters, is listed as making tail, fog, turn signal and side marker lamps, and its Xinying plant as making headlamps. It also lists a second research and development centre in Yongkang for headlamps, mold centres in Lukang and Xinying, a Chiayi plant for injection molding and surface treatment, and a Lukang plant for United States auto parts.

  • China

Five lamp plants: Kunshan (founded 2000), Ningbo (2011), Hefei (2015) and Nanchang (2015), each described as OEM for auto lamps, and Danyang (2010), described as research, development and production for AM auto lamps.

Depo publishes which plant makes which category of lamp and never ties a part number to a plant. A Depo lamp on a UAE shelf could come from Taiwan or from China, and nothing we read says which.

Depo in the UAE

Depo names no UAE distributor on any page we read. Its FAQ says it sells wholesale only and will help locate a distributor in the buyer's area, and its contact page gives a Middle East and Africa sales area with its own enquiry address. The recent exhibitions on the first page of its news list are in Shanghai and at AAPEX in Las Vegas, and none is in the Gulf. UAE online parts catalogues do list Depo-branded lamps, and a listing is not an authorisation. We name no UAE business as a Depo distributor, because a seller describing itself that way is not verification. Ask the seller to show the authorisation in writing, or write to Depo's Middle East and Africa sales contact and ask who covers the UAE.

Who Depo is, in its own dates

Depo is a Taiwanese lamp company, and it publishes enough of its own history to read it plainly. The company's predecessor, Ming Yang, started in May 1977 as a wholesaler of auto lamp parts. In April 1980 it established Ming Yang Traffic Facilities Co., Ltd. In October 1987 it set up a plant in Tainan City dedicated to headlamp manufacturing and opened a Taipei sales office the same year to develop overseas business. The DEPO brand dates from March 1991. A sales office and warehouses followed in the United States in 1997, the company was renamed DEPO in August 2002, and it listed on the stock exchange in March 2004. The investor pages on the same site give its stock code as 6605.

What that adds up to for a buyer is simple. Depo began as a trader in lamp parts and became a manufacturer with its own brand, and its history from the first line to the last is a lamp history. It is not a general parts group that happens to have a lighting range. That is useful context for the question behind most searches for this name, which is whether a Depo lamp is a serious product, and it is as far as history can take you. History does not describe any particular lamp, and the rest of this page sticks to what Depo says about its products.

What Depo makes, and where each plant is named

Depo's FAQ answers the question of what it offers in one line: auto lamp, auto mirror and collision parts. Its location pages say more about the lamps. In Taiwan the Lukang plant, which is also the headquarters, is listed with tail lamps, fog lamps, turn signal lamps, side marker lamps and auto parts as its main products, and the Xinying plant, founded in 1993, with headlamps. A second research and development centre in Yongkang is listed for headlamps, two mold centres handle mold design and manufacture, a Chiayi plant is listed for injection molding and surface treatment, and a Lukang plant founded in 2017 is listed for United States auto parts.

In mainland China Depo lists five lamp plants, at Kunshan, Danyang, Ningbo, Hefei and Nanchang. The next section is about how it labels them. In the United States the page headed USA and Europe lists four sites of Maxzone Auto Parts Corp., in Fontana in California, Port Reading in New Jersey, Norcross in Georgia and West Dundee in Illinois, and names no site in Europe. Depo's privacy policy names Maxzone as an affiliate, and its notice for the 2026 AAPEX show in Las Vegas announces a joint DEPO and MAXZONE booth. Depo does not say anywhere we read how the two names relate on a product, so this page does not guess.

OEM, AM, and the plants Depo labels

Depo's location page for China attaches a short description to each plant, and the descriptions are the only place the company says anything about OEM or aftermarket. Kunshan, Ningbo, Hefei and Nanchang are each described as OEM for auto lamps. Danyang is described as research, development and production for AM auto lamps. AM is the abbreviation Depo also uses in its FAQ, in the question of whether its AM autolamps are reliable.

It would be easy to read the OEM label as meaning those four plants build lamps for named carmakers, and it would be a reading Depo has not supplied. The company names no vehicle maker on any page we read. The letters are used loosely in the trade, and Depo does not say whether they mean lamps built for assembly lines, lamps built to a customer's specification, or something else. We are therefore not going to tell you that a Depo lamp is original equipment for any car.

What Depo does say, plainly, is how it describes the lamp it entered for a 2026 Taiwan Excellence Award. The news item calls the Eco headlamp, model number D12-1120P-RDEM2, a new generation of eco-conscious aftermarket headlamps, built with high-performance LED light sources and plastic materials that comply with IMDS standards. That is Depo calling one of its own award entries aftermarket in its own words, which is a more direct statement than the plant labels.

Certificates, CAPA, and what Depo's list cannot tell you

Depo's FAQ answers the question of what certification it can provide with five names: ECE, SAE and DOT, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and TS 16949. It separately says several of its products are CAPA approved, describing CAPA as the Certified Automotive Parts Association. We have not seen a certificate, a certificate number or an approval number for any of them, so this page treats the list as Depo's statement.

Two readings of that list are worth having. First, ISO 14001 is an environmental management standard, and Depo's environment policy page says it promoted an ISO 14001 environmental management system in 2018. Second, TS 16949 is the older name. IATF 16949:2016 cancels and replaces ISO/TS 16949:2009, according to the body that publishes it, so the FAQ wording does not tell us whether Depo's plants hold the current certificate. The page may simply be old. Management-system standards describe how a factory is run, in any case, and not what any one lamp does in the dark.

CAPA is the more informative claim, because Depo spells out what it covers. It lists dimensional checks, composition, appearance, coating performance, mechanical properties, photometric performance, electrical performance, aiming performance, and compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108, which Depo ties to the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. That is a useful list of what a lamp can be tested for. The words Depo uses are several products, not all, and it does not say which. If a seller tells you your lamp is CAPA approved, the question is which product number, and it is a question a seller who knows the answer will not mind.

Lamps for named cars, and the styling range

Depo's history page lists the awards the company has won, and the product entries tell you more than the trophies. Taiwan Excellence Awards are listed for a JIMNY high-end LED tail lamp in the 2024 round, an F-Style LED performance headlamp in 2023, a MUGEN high-end LED tail lamp in 2022, an OLED tail lamp in 2021, a refitted truck LED headlamp in 2020 and the Eco headlamp in the 2026 round. The model names are Depo's own, as printed in the award titles.

Read as a hint about the range, that is a company that goes beyond plain like-for-like replacement into LED and styling lamps, and into lamps named for particular models. It is not a catalogue, and nothing on these pages tells you which of those lamps is sold in the UAE. An upgrade lamp is by definition not the lamp the car left the factory with. Whether a particular one is acceptable for road use here is a question for the seller and for whoever inspects the car, and Depo's pages do not answer it, so this page does not either.

Ordering a lamp without a mistake

Lamps are handed left and right, and most of the cost of a wrong order is in getting the wrong side. Bring the old lamp, or a clear photo of the back of it with any number visible, and the vehicle details. Ask whether the price is for the lamp unit alone or includes the parts that go inside it, because that is where two quotes for the same number most often differ.

Depo's FAQ adds one thing a buyer should know about how the product is sold: each item has to be ordered in its standard packaging quantity, a rule that suits trade orders better than a single lamp and is one more reason a buyer reaches Depo through a seller.

On recognising the product, Depo has published one fact. A news item says that from the summer of 2025 it introduced a fresh trademark look, a green-to-yellow gradient, used mainly in exhibitions, marketing materials, promotional events and some international markets, while the classic solid green beam pattern continues to appear on shipped product packaging. The practical consequence is small and useful. A catalogue, a social post or a stand in the newer look is not on its own a sign of anything wrong, and a box in the classic look is not either. This is the only identification point Depo publishes, so we offer no other.

Buying Depo in the UAE, and what happens to a faulty lamp

Depo's FAQ says it sells wholesale only. If you want to order, it says, contact its business department and it will help locate a distributor in your area or refer you to regional sales. The contact page lists a Middle East and Africa sales area with its own enquiry address, and none of Depo's pages names a business in the UAE, which is the reasoning in the note near the top of this page. We name no UAE distributor and suggest that any seller who claims to be one is asked for the paper.

The warranty route is just as indirect. Depo says that if a lamp has a defect, the buyer should contact the vendor the lamp was bought from and get the replacement, and the vendor reports to Depo to file the customer complaint form. In practice that means your remedy sits with the shop, so the invoice and the shop's name matter more than anything printed on the lamp. Buy from somewhere you can walk back into.

We hold no record of which shops stock Depo specifically. The shop list lower down this page is chosen on lighting and mirror categories, and the sentence that introduces it says so.

What this page does not claim

Several things a page about a lamp brand might be expected to say are missing on purpose. There is no vehicle maker named as a Depo customer, because Depo names none. There is no UAE distributor, because none is named on a first-party page. There is no country attached to any individual lamp, because Depo never maps part numbers to plants. There is no guide to spotting a copy beyond Depo's own packaging statement, because we have no sourced one. There is no view on whether a given LED or styling lamp is acceptable for road use here. And there is no price, because the price of a lamp depends on the model, the side, whether it comes with its internals and the shop, and it dates quickly.

Shops for headlights in the UAE

These shops are here because their recorded stock covers at least one of headlights, headlight assembly, taillight assembly and side mirrors — not because we have confirmed that each one carries Depo. We hold no reliable shop-by-shop record of which brands are on which shelf, so ring or message before you travel.

Depo — common questions

What is Depo?
Depo is the brand of DEPO Auto Parts Ind. Co., Ltd., a Taiwanese company listed on the Taiwan stock market under stock code 6605. Its predecessor started in 1977 as a wholesaler of auto lamp parts, and Depo lists its products as auto lamps, auto mirrors and collision parts.
Where are Depo lamps made?
Depo lists plants in Taiwan and mainland China. Headlamps are listed at its Xinying plant and tail, fog, turn signal and side marker lamps at Lukang, with five lamp plants in China at Kunshan, Danyang, Ningbo, Hefei and Nanchang. It does not say which plant makes which part number, so we cannot tell you where a particular lamp was made.
Are Depo lamps OEM?
Depo describes four of its China plants as OEM for auto lamps and one as AM, short for aftermarket, but it names no vehicle maker as a customer, and it calls its award-winning Eco headlamp an aftermarket headlamp. We cannot say that Depo supplied the original lamp for any car. If that matters to you, ask the seller for the part number and check it against the vehicle maker's catalogue.
Are Depo headlights certified?
Depo says the certificates it can provide are ECE, SAE and DOT, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and TS 16949, and that several of its products are CAPA approved. It does not say which products carry which approval, and we have not seen any certificate. If a seller says a lamp is approved, ask which approval and for which part number.
What does CAPA approval cover?
Depo describes the CAPA specifications as covering dimensional checks, composition, appearance, coating performance, mechanical properties, photometric performance, electrical performance, aiming performance and compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108, a United States regulation. It says several of its products are CAPA approved, not all.
Does Depo sell to the public?
Not directly. Depo says it only sells wholesale, in standard packaging quantities, and that it will help a buyer find a distributor in their area. A UAE buyer purchases through a trade seller, a workshop or a parts shop.
Who sells Depo in the UAE?
Depo names no UAE distributor on the pages we read, and its news list shows recent exhibitions in Shanghai and Las Vegas rather than the Gulf. It does have a Middle East and Africa sales contact area. We name no UAE business as an authorised distributor, because a seller describing itself that way is not verification.
What if a Depo lamp is faulty?
Depo says the buyer should contact the vendor the lamp was bought from and get the replacement, and that the vendor reports to Depo to file a customer complaint form. Keep the invoice with the seller's name on it, because the claim runs through the shop.
Is Depo the same as Maxzone?
Depo's privacy policy names Maxzone Auto Parts Corp. as an affiliate, its location page lists four Maxzone sites in the United States, and its 2026 AAPEX notice announces a joint DEPO and MAXZONE booth. Depo does not say how the two names relate on a given product, so we do not either.
Does Depo make anything besides headlights?
Yes. Depo lists tail lamps, fog lamps, turn signal lamps and side marker lamps at its Lukang plant, and its FAQ names auto mirrors and collision parts as products. Its award entries also include LED and OLED tail lamps and a truck LED headlamp.
How much do Depo headlights cost in the UAE?
No number appears on this page. The price of a lamp depends on the model, the side, whether it includes the parts that go inside it and the shop, and a figure on a brand page ages quickly. Give us the car and we will find what is being asked for the part today.
