Aisin clutches, water pumps and gearbox parts in the UAE

Clutches, automatic transmissions, water pumps and brake parts

Aisin is a trademark of its owner. We are not an authorised Aisin dealer or distributor, and nothing here is endorsed by them. The name and mark are shown to say which parts we quote and source.

The quick answer

Aisin is a Japanese components maker headquartered in Kariya, Aichi, and a member of the Toyota Group. It took its present shape in 1965, when Aichi Kogyo and Shinkawa Kogyo merged to become Aisin Seiki, and again on 1 April 2021, when Aisin Seiki and Aisin AW were integrated into AISIN CORPORATION. It sells its aftermarket catalogue as systems rather than as a good, better and best ladder: clutch, cooling, brake, engine, drivetrain, steering and suspension, performance and fluids. The two lines that matter most at a UAE counter are the clutch kits, where Aisin says it is number one for Toyota clutches, and the water pumps, where it calls itself the world number one.

Key facts

  • Aisin is a Toyota Group company headquartered at Kariya in Aichi prefecture, Japan, with capital of 45 billion yen and around 113,000 consolidated employees as of 31 March 2026.
  • Aisin Seiki was formed in 1965 by the merger of Aichi Kogyo and its sister company Shinkawa Kogyo. The present AISIN CORPORATION dates from 1 April 2021, when Aisin Seiki and Aisin AW were integrated.
  • Aisin AW began in 1969 as a joint venture with the American company Borg-Warner, specialising in automatic transmissions. That partnership ended in 1987 and the business was renamed Aisin AW in 1988.
  • Aisin sells eight aftermarket product groups: clutch, cooling, brake, engine, drivetrain, steering and suspension, performance, and fluids. There is no good, better, best ladder inside them.
  • Aisin's brake range is listed with ADVICS brake pads in it, so an ADVICS box arriving against an Aisin brake order is expected rather than a substitution.
  • Aisin says it is number one for Toyota clutches and world number one for water pumps, and that its aftermarket clutches, clutch kits and spares are of identical quality to its original-equipment products. Those are Aisin's claims about itself.
  • Aisin's own head office and plants page lists fourteen plants, and every one of them is in Aichi prefecture in Japan.

Which one fits your car

Matching an engine to a Aisin range
If this is your carUseWhy
Manual car with a slipping or dragging clutchClutch systemOrder the kit rather than the friction disc alone. Almost all of the cost of this job is getting the gearbox out, and you only want to do that once.
Modern manual car with a hydraulic release bearing inside the bellhousingClutch systemThis is what Aisin's CSC kits exist for. If the concentric slave cylinder is in there, it gets replaced with the clutch, not after it.
Engine running hot, or a water pump weeping at the beltCooling systemAisin also lists electric and inverter pumps, so on a hybrid confirm which type the car takes before pricing anything.
Brake pads on a Japanese car ordered through AisinBrake systemExpect an ADVICS box. It is the group's brake name and appears in Aisin's own brake listing, so it is not a substitution.
Timing belt service on an engine that uses oneEngine systemAisin sells the belt kit and the hydraulic tensioner together, which is how the job should be quoted.
Automatic gearbox repair or a fluid change on an Aisin AW unitDrivetrain systemFluid specification on an automatic is not a place to improvise. Match what the vehicle manufacturer calls for and take the confirmation in writing.

The range descriptions are the manufacturer’s. Matching them to a car is our guidance, and it is a starting point rather than a fitment check — the part number is what actually decides. Send us the make, model and year and we will confirm it.

Original equipment

Aisin is the brand where the original-equipment question is most tempting to answer and hardest to answer honestly. It is a Toyota Group company and Toyota holds roughly a quarter of it, and Aisin's own aftermarket site says the company is number one for Toyota clutches and that its aftermarket clutches and spares are of identical quality to its original-equipment products. Those are the sourced facts, and they are Aisin describing its own position. What none of them establishes is which model, in which year, in which market, left a factory with which Aisin part number in it, and Aisin publishes no list that does. So a Toyota-boxed part and an Aisin-boxed part may indeed be the same thing, and we cannot tell you that it is for your car. Ask the shop to match the vehicle manufacturer's number, which is a question with an answer, rather than the group relationship, which is not.

Where it is made

  • Japan

Aisin's head office is at Kariya in Aichi prefecture, and its own head office and plants page lists fourteen plants, all of them in Aichi. The page does not say what is made at each, so it establishes where Aisin manufactures rather than which plant filled your box.

Source: AISIN CORPORATION — head office and plants, read 2026-09-02

One caution about the entry above, because it is easy to over-read. Aisin's plants page naming only Japanese sites is a fact about that page, not proof that every Aisin part in every market is built in Japan; the group has operations well beyond Aichi and does not publish a plant-to-part-number map. So a country of origin on an Aisin box that is not Japan is not by itself evidence of anything, and neither is one that is. The part number is what you check.

Aisin in the UAE

We could not source a UAE distributor that Aisin itself names. Several Dubai trading companies describe themselves as suppliers of genuine Aisin parts, and at least one describes itself as an authorised dealer for the aftermarket range; those are descriptions written by the sellers about the sellers, and we do not repeat them as verification. The practical effect for a buyer is small, because Aisin parts reach this market through the ordinary independent trade rather than through a single named importer. The check that does work is the part number on the box against the vehicle, and asking which of Aisin's systems the shop actually orders from.

A Toyota Group company, which is not the same as being Toyota

Aisin sits inside the Toyota Group and Toyota holds roughly a quarter of it, and that single fact does more work in a UAE parts conversation than anything else about the company. It is also the fact most often stretched past what it supports.

The company itself is older than its current name. Aisin's own history traces back to wartime aircraft businesses, Tokai Koku Kogyo from 1943 and Toshin Kokuki from 1945, which became Aichi Kogyo and Shinkawa Kogyo. In 1965 those two sister companies merged to become Aisin Seiki. Today it trades as AISIN CORPORATION from 2-1 Asahi-machi, Kariya, in Aichi prefecture, with capital of 45 billion yen and about 113,000 consolidated employees as of 31 March 2026.

What being in the Toyota Group means in practice is a supply relationship and a shared engineering culture. What it does not mean is that Aisin is Toyota's parts department, or that an Aisin box and a Toyota-branded box are automatically the same object for your car. The first is a group structure; the second is a claim about a part number, and only one of them can be checked at a counter.

Why there are three different names on the boxes

This is the practical confusion Aisin generates more than any other brand in this wave, and it is entirely explicable. Order Aisin parts in the UAE and you may be handed a box that says Aisin, one that says Aisin AW, or one that says ADVICS, and none of those is a substitution.

Aisin AW was created in 1969 as a joint venture with the American company Borg-Warner, specialising in automatic transmissions. The partnership ended in 1987 and the business was renamed Aisin AW Co., Ltd. in 1988. It spent the next three decades becoming one of the most widely fitted automatic transmission makers in the world, which is why the name is on so many gearboxes in so many cars that have no other connection to each other. On 1 April 2021 the management of Aisin Seiki and Aisin AW was integrated and the merged company became AISIN CORPORATION.

ADVICS is the group's brake name, and Aisin's own aftermarket brake listing has ADVICS brake pads in it. So if you order brake pads through Aisin and an ADVICS box arrives, that is the correct part arriving under the name it is sold as, not a shop swapping your order for something cheaper.

The useful habit is to stop treating the name on the outside as the identity of the part. On this brand more than most, the number is the part and the name is packaging history.

There is no good, better, best ladder here

Most brands on this site sell you a choice of quality level. Bosch sorts batteries by technology, Denso sells seven plug lines, and the buyer's job is to work out which rung the car sits on. Aisin does not work that way, and it is worth saying so explicitly because people go looking for the ladder and assume they have missed it.

Aisin publishes its catalogue as eight systems: clutch, cooling, brake, engine, drivetrain, steering and suspension, performance, and fluids. Inside each is a component list, not a tier. The company's own positioning statement is that its aftermarket clutches, clutch kits and spares are of identical quality to its original-equipment products, made using its original-equipment tooling and to the same tolerances.

Treat that as what it is: the manufacturer's claim about itself, clearly stated and worth knowing. It is not independent verification and we are not presenting it as such. But it does tell you what the company thinks it is selling, and it means the question at the counter is not which Aisin grade to buy, only whether the part number is right.

Clutches: buy the kit, not the disc

The clutch line is what Aisin is known for, and the company's own claim is that it is number one for Toyota clutches. Its aftermarket clutch listing runs to clutch kits, CSC kits, super kits and conversion kits, covers, discs, bearings, concentric slave cylinders, clutch master and release cylinders, and flywheel dampers.

The buying advice that follows from that list is ours rather than Aisin's, and it is the single most useful paragraph on this page. Nearly all of the cost of a clutch job is labour, because the gearbox has to come out to reach any of it. Replacing the friction disc alone while the release bearing, the cover and, on many modern cars, the hydraulic slave cylinder inside the bellhousing all stay in place saves a small amount of money now and puts the whole labour bill back on the table when one of them fails. That is why the kits exist, and why a quote for a disc is not a cheaper version of a quote for a kit.

The CSC kits deserve a specific mention for the same reason. On a car where the release bearing and slave cylinder are one concentric unit inside the bellhousing, that unit is only accessible with the gearbox out. If yours is built that way, it is part of the clutch job by definition.

Water pumps, and the cooling system nobody thinks about until August

Aisin calls itself the world number one for water pumps, and its cooling listing covers water pumps, electric water pumps, inverter water pumps, fan clutches, fan blades, fan pulley brackets and a long-life coolant.

Two things about that list matter here. The first is the distinction people conflate: the cooling system is what keeps the engine alive, and the air conditioning is what keeps you comfortable. They are different systems, different parts and often different specialists, and a shop that is excellent at one may not touch the other. A water pump is a cooling part.

The second is the electric and inverter pumps. Hybrids and many newer cars no longer drive the water pump off the engine, and a pump for one of those is not the same purchase as a belt-driven one. If the car is a hybrid, establish which type it takes before anyone quotes you, because the two are not interchangeable and the price difference is real.

What we are not going to publish is how often water pumps fail in Gulf conditions or how long one lasts here. Heat is hard on cooling systems and everybody in the trade will tell you so, and none of us has a measurement worth putting a number to on a page people read while deciding what to spend.

Where the Aisin story gets oversold at the counter

Two claims travel with this brand and neither survives a check, so they are named here rather than repeated above.

The first is that an Aisin box is simply the Toyota part without the Toyota markup. Sometimes an Aisin part and a vehicle manufacturer's part are the same object; Aisin's group membership and its own identical-quality statement make that plausible for some lines. But Aisin does not publish which of its part numbers correspond to which manufacturer's part numbers, so the claim cannot be verified for the specific thing you are about to buy, and a shop asserting it is asserting something it also cannot check.

The second is a list of the carmakers Aisin supplies at the factory. Lists like that circulate, and the ones we found came from trading companies rather than from Aisin. Aisin names no marque anywhere we could read except in the statement about being number one for Toyota clutches, which is a claim about position rather than a supply contract. So there is no such list on this page.

There is a third, smaller one worth flagging because it costs people money in the other direction: assuming an ADVICS box means the shop has substituted a cheaper brand. It has not. That is Aisin's brake name.

Buying Aisin in the UAE

No manufacturer-published UAE distributor appears on this page because we could not find one Aisin itself names. Several Dubai trading companies describe themselves as suppliers of genuine Aisin, and one describes itself as an authorised dealer for the aftermarket range, but a seller's description of a seller is not verification and we will not print it as one.

In practice this brand reaches the UAE through the normal independent trade, which makes two questions worth asking before you commit. Which Aisin system does the shop actually order from, since a counter that moves clutch kits every week may never have ordered a water pump. And what number are they quoting against, because on a brand with three names on the boxes the number is the only thing that resolves the part.

If the job is a clutch or a gearbox, get the quote itemised into parts and labour before you agree to it. On this particular family of jobs the labour dominates, and an itemised quote is what lets you compare two shops honestly. Our gearbox and cooling hubs, linked at the foot of this page, carry the shop lists and the cost work for those jobs specifically.

Shops for gearboxes in the UAE

These shops are here because their recorded stock covers at least one of clutch kit, automatic gearbox, water pump, brake pads and timing belt — not because we have confirmed that each one carries Aisin. We hold no reliable shop-by-shop record of which brands are on which shelf, so ring or message before you travel.

Aisin — common questions

Is Aisin owned by Toyota?
Aisin is a member of the Toyota Group and Toyota holds roughly a quarter of the company. It is not a Toyota subsidiary or a Toyota parts department, and it sells a large aftermarket catalogue in its own name.
Is an Aisin part the same as the Toyota part?
Sometimes, and we cannot tell you that it is for your car. Aisin does not publish which of its part numbers match a vehicle manufacturer's numbers, so the claim cannot be verified for a specific purchase. Ask the shop to resolve the vehicle manufacturer's part number and compare it against what they are actually handing you.
Why does my Aisin brake box say ADVICS?
Because that is the group's brake name and Aisin's own aftermarket brake listing includes ADVICS brake pads. An ADVICS box against an Aisin brake order is the correct part under the name it is sold as, not a substitution by the shop.
What is Aisin AW?
Aisin AW was the automatic transmission business, started in 1969 as a joint venture with Borg-Warner, renamed Aisin AW in 1988 after that partnership ended, and integrated into AISIN CORPORATION on 1 April 2021. Its name is on a great many automatic gearboxes, which is why you still see it on boxes and casings.
Does Aisin have good, better and best grades like other brands?
No, and that is a genuine difference rather than a gap in this page. Aisin publishes eight product systems with component lists inside them, not a tier ladder. Its own position is that its aftermarket clutches and spares are of identical quality to its original-equipment products.
Should I replace the whole clutch kit or just the disc?
The kit, in almost every case. The overwhelming majority of the cost is the labour of removing the gearbox, and leaving an old release bearing or cover in place means paying that labour again when one of them fails. On cars with a concentric slave cylinder inside the bellhousing, that unit is only reachable with the gearbox out, which is why Aisin sells CSC kits.
Which car makers does Aisin supply at the factory?
We name none, because Aisin publishes none. The only marque Aisin names in anything we could read is Toyota, in the statement that it is number one for Toyota clutches, and that is a claim about its position in that market rather than a factory-fitment list. Lists naming several manufacturers are circulated by traders, not by Aisin.
Where are Aisin parts made?
Aisin's own head office and plants page lists fourteen plants and all of them are in Aichi prefecture in Japan. That is a fact about the page rather than proof that every Aisin part everywhere is built there, and Aisin does not publish which plant makes which part number. Check the number rather than the country.
Does Aisin make water pumps for hybrids?
Yes. Its cooling listing covers electric water pumps and inverter water pumps alongside conventional ones, plus fan clutches and coolant. If the car is a hybrid, establish which pump type it takes before anyone prices the job, because the two are not interchangeable.
Is there an authorised Aisin distributor in the UAE?
We could not find one that Aisin itself names. Several Dubai traders describe themselves as suppliers of genuine Aisin and one as an authorised dealer, and those descriptions come from the sellers rather than from the manufacturer, so we do not repeat them here as verification.
What does an Aisin clutch kit cost in the UAE?
There is no price on this page by design. The part is a small share of what a clutch job costs, the rest is labour, and both vary with the car and the workshop. Send us the make, model and year and we will come back with what the shops that stock it are asking, itemised.
