What the Nissan brake shelf covers, and where it is thin
Pads are the core of this range, in genuine Nissan boxes and aftermarket brands, for front and rear axles. Around them sit discs, shoe kits for rear drums and drum-type parking brakes, and the small parts that keep a caliper working properly: seal and repair kits, slide pin bushes and clip sets.
Some lines are narrower. The brake hoses on this shelf are genuine Nissan only. Wheel cylinders and brake drums are held in small numbers, so if your Nissan has drums at the back we check the exact part rather than assume it is here. Complete calipers are not a deep range either; for a seized caliper we can often supply a rebuild kit from stock, or quote the complete unit on request.
Brake fluid is not part of this range. Your garage will have the grade your car needs, which is usually moulded into the reservoir cap.
Stopping a Patrol: weight, heat and four-piston calipers
A loaded Patrol is a great deal of mass to stop from motorway speed, and in a UAE summer its brakes begin that job already hot. Nissan's launch material for the Y62 describes four-piston opposed front calipers on larger 358 mm front discs. In a fixed caliper like that, pistons on both sides of the disc squeeze the pads in, and nothing slides. The slide pin kits in our range are therefore for sliding calipers, not for the front of a Y62, where the pad pins and clips do the locating instead.
Desert trips, towing and long descents such as the roads down from Jebel Jais or Jebel Hafeet push brake temperatures further still. The signs of brakes that have been overheated are a pedal that goes long or soft on a long hill, a hot, acrid smell, and blue tints or fine cracks on the disc face. A glazed pad looks shiny and grips poorly even after it has cooled.
When a Patrol's brakes have been through that, replace pads and discs together on the axle rather than bedding new pads onto a heat-marked disc. Ask the garage to check that every caliper piston moves freely at the same time, because a sticking piston is a frequent reason one wheel runs hotter than the other.
Reading a Nissan's brakes: signs, parts and what to send
Brakes give plenty of warning, and most of it comes through the noise and the pedal. The table pairs the usual signs with the parts on our shelf they lead to. A garage should still look before you buy: measuring pad material and disc thickness takes a few minutes with a wheel off, and the minimum thickness is normally stamped on the disc itself.
Nissan numbers its pads in families, which helps when you are reading an old box. Many front pad sets in our range carry numbers starting 41060 or D1060, and rear sets D4060. The aftermarket lines in the part numbers table show the Nissan number they replace, so your old box can be matched to a line on the shelf. One aftermarket front pad set in this range is listed for cars as different as the Navara, the Serena and the third-generation Pathfinder, which is exactly why we go by numbers rather than by what a car looks like.
| What you notice | Likely part | What to send us |
|---|---|---|
| High squeal when braking lightly | Pads worn down to the wear tab | Chassis number and which axle |
| Shudder through the pedal or steering when slowing from speed | Discs worn unevenly or heat-marked | Chassis number, front or rear |
| Car pulls to one side, one wheel much hotter after a drive | Sticking caliper piston or slide pins | A photo of the caliper |
| Clunk or rattle as you brake over rough ground | Worn slide pin bushes or missing pad clips | Chassis number and the side |
| Soft pedal that sinks under steady pressure | Air or a leak in the hydraulics | Where any fluid is showing |
| Parking brake travels too far before it holds | Rear shoes or their fittings | Chassis number; rear drums or rear discs |
| Damp patch on the inside of a rear tyre | Leaking wheel cylinder | Chassis number and the side |
Genuine Nissan pads and discs, or aftermarket?
The comparison under this section sets the typical genuine Nissan price against the typical aftermarket one, on the date shown, for the brake part types where we hold enough of both. Pads are not in it, because the pad lines are counted together with their clips and fittings, yet pads are where the choice comes up most often, and the shelf is deep on both sides there. Ask for both pad prices for your car in one message.
A practical way to decide: on a heavy car that tows, crosses sand or does a lot of mountain driving, such as a Patrol or a Pathfinder, genuine Nissan pads and discs keep the friction behaviour the car was set up with. On a Sunny, Tiida or Altima that lives in city traffic, a good aftermarket pad made for its part number is a fair saving. Whichever you pick, fit the same pad on both sides of an axle and never mix brands left and right.
For caliper repair kits, slide pin bushes and clip sets the shelf is mostly aftermarket, much of it FEBEST, a brand whose catalogue is built around repair kits and rubber-to-metal parts rather than complete assemblies. Brake hoses run the other way: what we hold is genuine Nissan. If you want the genuine version of a part where our range is aftermarket, ask and we price it against your chassis number.
| Part | Genuine Nissan, typical | Aftermarket, typical |
|---|---|---|
| Brake discs | AED 173 | AED 100 |
| Brake cylinders | AED 62 | AED 50 |
Medians across the lines we hold of each kind. A typical price is not the price of one part: two lines of the same name can be for different models.
Trims, imports and the right Nissan brake part
Model and year are not enough for brakes. Nissan's US specifications for the 2019 Altima list different rear disc sizes for different trims of the same car, and engine size changes the brake hardware on many cars. The Sunny is sold as the Versa in the Americas, and the Armada is the North American version of the Y62 Patrol from the 2017 model year, so a US import can carry different numbers from the GCC car it resembles.
The chassis number on the mulkiya resolves all of that. Send it with the axle and we check pads, discs and fittings against it before quoting. If your car has rear discs and a garage says it needs shoes, those are the parking brake shoes that sit inside the centre of the rear disc, and the chassis number tells us which kit.
Pads and discs are changed in axle sets, both sides together. New pads need bedding in with a series of moderate stops before any hard braking, and the garage will usually take care of it. We sell and deliver the parts; fitting and bleeding are your garage's job, and the workshops listed lower down this page are one place to start.

Nissan brake parts: questions
- Do you have genuine Nissan brake pads for the Patrol?
- We hold genuine Nissan pads alongside aftermarket ones. Patrol pads differ by generation and by axle, so send the chassis number, say front or rear, and we confirm the exact set before we quote.
- Why are slide pin kits no use on the front of a Y62 Patrol?
- Nissan describes the Y62's front brakes as four-piston opposed calipers, a fixed design with pistons on both sides of the disc. A fixed caliper does not slide, so slide pins do not apply there; pad pins and clips do.
- Should I replace the discs every time I change pads?
- Not always. If the discs are above the minimum thickness stamped on them, run true and show no heat marks or deep grooves, new pads alone are fine. A shudder when braking, a lip at the edge or blue marks mean the discs go too.
- What causes a squeal from the front of my Altima or Sunny when I brake?
- Often it is the wear tab on the pad touching the disc, which is there to warn you. Dust or a missing anti-rattle clip can do it too. Have the pad thickness checked, and if it is low, send us the chassis number.
- Does my Sunny have drum brakes at the back?
- Some smaller Nissans use rear drums and others rear discs, depending on generation, market and trim. The chassis number tells us which yours has, and whether you need shoes, a wheel cylinder or pads.
- Can a sticking Nissan caliper be rebuilt instead of replaced?
- Often. If the bore is not badly corroded, a repair kit with new seals, plus fresh slide pin bushes on a sliding caliper, brings it back. The garage decides once it is stripped; we hold caliper kits and can quote a complete caliper on request.
- Are aftermarket brake pads a sensible choice on a Nissan?
- A reputable aftermarket pad made for your car's part number is a normal choice, especially for city driving. Fit the same pad on both wheels of the axle and bed it in properly. For heavy towing or dune use, genuine is the cautious option.
- What shortens brake life on a Patrol here?
- Weight, heat and how the car is used. A big four-wheel drive that tows, carries a full load, crosses sand or drives down mountain roads asks far more of its pads and discs than a small car in light traffic does.
- Do you sell brake hoses for Nissan?
- Yes, genuine Nissan brake hoses. A hose that bulges when the pedal is pressed, or shows cracks in its rubber, should be replaced and the brakes bled afterwards. Send the chassis number and say which wheel.
- Will brake parts from a US-import Armada fit a GCC Patrol?
- Sometimes, but we do not assume it. The Armada sold from 2017 is built on the Y62 Patrol, yet market versions can differ in detail. We match part numbers to your chassis number before we quote.
- How quickly can I get Nissan brake parts?
- This range is held in the UAE, and the stock line near the top shows the delivery window as of its date. Message us with your emirate and we confirm when the parts will reach you.
- Will you fit the brakes for me?
- We do not fit parts. We sell them, deliver across the UAE and take payment through a card link. Your garage does the fitting and bleeding; the shops listed on this page are an option if you need one.
