Meyle steering and suspension parts in the UAE
Steering, suspension, braking and engine wear parts, in three published lines

The quick answer
MEYLE is the parts brand of MEYLE AG in Hamburg, held by the family-run holding Wulf Gaertner Autoparts, which traces itself to a spare parts export business started in 1958. It covers more than 24,000 parts for cars and vans, and unlike most of the brands it competes with it publishes a real three-line range: MEYLE ORIGINAL, MEYLE PD and MEYLE HD, with a two-year guarantee on everything and four years on HD. It is also one of the few aftermarket brands in this segment that manufactures rather than only specifies, through its Turkish subsidiary SIO Automotive.

Key facts
- MEYLE is a brand of MEYLE AG, Hamburg, held by the family-run Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG. The export business behind it was started in 1958.
- The range is more than 24,000 parts for cars and vans, sold in around 120 countries, of which MEYLE ORIGINAL alone accounts for over 21,000.
- MEYLE publishes a genuine three-line structure: ORIGINAL, PD for improved and redesigned components, and HD for reinforced parts.
- The guarantee is the published separator between the lines: MEYLE states two years on all products and four years on the HD line.
- HD parts are described as starting from a weak point in a part that failed early, then being redesigned with reinforced construction and better materials.
- The only production location the group names is SIO Automotive in Turkey, established 1991 and making steering and suspension components. Hamburg is described as headquarters, warehouse, development and testing.
- MEYLE names no vehicle manufacturer as an original equipment customer, and describes itself instead as a partner in the independent aftermarket.
- A company trading as Meyle Middle East is an industrial automation business and has nothing to do with this parts brand.

Which one fits your car
| If this is your car | Use | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A straightforward like-for-like replacement on a car that is behaving normally | MEYLE ORIGINAL | The bulk of the catalogue. The line name says original fit, not original equipment. |
| A part on your car that is known for failing early and has already been done once | MEYLE HD | This is precisely the case HD is designed around, and it carries twice the guarantee period. |
| Rear axle control arms, flex discs, stabiliser links, water pumps or suspension mounts | MEYLE HD | The categories MEYLE itself names for the HD line rather than a general upgrade offer. |
| A brake service where discs and pads go in together | MEYLE PD | Brakes and filters are where the PD line is concentrated, including a two-component disc design. |
| A cabin filter change on a car that spends its life in dust and traffic | MEYLE PD | Cabin air filters are one of the few non-braking items MEYLE names inside PD. |
The range descriptions are the manufacturer’s. Matching them to a car is our guidance, and it is a starting point rather than a fitment check — the part number is what actually decides. Send us the make, model and year and we will confirm it.
Original equipment
This one is empty for a reason that runs the other way from most brands on this site. MEYLE does not claim to be an original equipment supplier, it claims to be better than one on specific parts. Its own description of how an HD part comes into existence begins with an original equipment part failing early in real workshop conditions or showing room for improvement, which is a claim about improving somebody else's factory part rather than about supplying a factory. Its quality material makes no OE supply claim at all and its self-description is a partner in the independent aftermarket. So there is no marque to name, and the absence here is the brand's own positioning rather than a gap in our research.
Where it is made
Turkey
SIO Automotive, the group's manufacturing subsidiary, established in 1991 and producing steering and suspension components. A second production shop and a new office building were added there in 2015. This is the only production location the group names anywhere, and it is the one behind the coupling rods, control arms and chassis parts MEYLE describes as made in its own factories.

Hamburg is not the answer, and MEYLE never says it is. Its own description of the German site is headquarters, central warehouse, development, testing, administration, sales, customer service and data management. Every one of those is a real activity and none of them is a press. For parts it does not make itself the company says it uses an international network of development and production partners, which it says includes well known original equipment suppliers manufacturing to MEYLE's own specifications, and it names none of them and none of their countries. Taken together: an engineer in Hamburg, a plant in Turkey, and a partner network of unnamed suppliers. Anyone selling you MEYLE as a German-made part is going beyond what the manufacturer itself claims.
Meyle in the UAE
MEYLE publishes a list of the countries it runs subsidiaries in, and there is no Middle East entry on it. The eight it names are Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Malaysia, North America and Japan. So we have no manufacturer-named UAE presence to give you, and we are not going to fill the gap with a trading house that describes itself as an authorised distributor, because that is a claim a business makes about itself rather than one the manufacturer has made about it. One warning while you look: a company trading as Meyle Middle East exists and is an industrial automation business with no connection to this parts brand. Landing on it and concluding you have found the local office would be an easy mistake to make.
A racing driver in South America who could not get parts
The origin story is unusually specific for a parts brand, and the group tells it itself. Wulf Gaertner had been living in South America as an amateur racing driver and found good spare parts hard to come by, so in 1958 he started bringing them out from Germany. That export business became Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG, a family-run holding at Merkurring in Hamburg with roughly 1,000 people across its network, and MEYLE AG is the spare parts brand inside it.
It is not the only thing in the holding, and the rest is a useful signal about where the company puts its attention. Alongside MEYLE sit emovum, an electric conversion business founded in 2015, and an institute for automotive technology and electromobility doing research. The fourth entity is SIO Automotive in Turkey, which is where the manufacturing actually happens.
Being family-held rather than private-equity owned or bolted into a conglomerate is worth one line and no more than one. It does not make a control arm last longer. What it does mean is that the brand has not changed hands three times in a decade, which in this segment is less common than it sounds.
Three lines, and a guarantee that actually separates them
Most brands in this part of the market either have no range structure at all or have one invented by the shop selling it. MEYLE publishes a real one, in three lines, and it puts a number behind the difference.
MEYLE ORIGINAL is the bulk of the catalogue at over 21,000 parts, described as an OE-compliant fit in full accordance with MEYLE's own specifications and developed by its engineers in Hamburg. MEYLE PD stands for Performance Design and covers around 1,300 products the company says it has taken further, through a multi-stage re-engineering process, for improved function, performance, comfort or design; the named PD products are brake discs, two-component brake discs, brake pads and cabin air filters. MEYLE HD stands for High Durability and is the reinforced line.
The separator is the guarantee, and it is the manufacturer's own statement: two years on all products, and four years on the HD line. That is the cleanest tier signal available anywhere in this category. A company that doubles its own liability on one line is telling you something concrete about how it expects that line to behave, and it is a far more useful signal than any adjective on a box.
What High Durability actually changes, with the example the company publishes
Reinforced is a word anyone can print. MEYLE describes an actual process, and it publishes one worked example that makes the idea legible.
The process, in the company's own framing, starts from failure rather than from a catalogue. An original equipment part fails prematurely under real workshop conditions, or shows potential for improvement; MEYLE's engineers identify the weak point and redesign around it with a reinforced construction and higher-grade materials. The output is meant to be a part that is not the same as the one that failed.
The example is a Mercedes control arm, on the W205 and W213 platforms, where the original ball joint failed early. MEYLE says it enlarged the diameter of the internal ball pin while keeping the outer dimensions unchanged, which reduces surface pressure at the joint and extends service life. Note carefully what that is and is not: it is a statement about a Mercedes part, made by MEYLE about its own redesign of it. It is not a statement that Mercedes fits MEYLE, and it must never be read as one.
For a buyer here, the useful filter is simple. If the part you are replacing is one you have already replaced once, or one your make is known for eating, HD is aimed exactly at you and it comes with double the guarantee. If it is a part that has simply reached its age, ORIGINAL is what the range is mostly made of and there is nothing wrong with it.
The word ORIGINAL on the box is a line name
MEYLE ORIGINAL reads, at a glance, like a claim to be the original part. It is not, and the company does not pretend it is. Its own description is the quality of the original at a fair price, and an OE-compliant fit in full accordance with MEYLE specifications. Read that second phrase slowly: the specification being complied with is MEYLE's.
This matters because the word is doing marketing work in a place where a buyer is making a decision. In a market with a great deal of genuine parts trade running alongside a great deal that is not, a box that says ORIGINAL in capital letters is going to be interpreted by somebody as a statement about provenance. It is a line name, exactly as HD and PD are line names.
The honest way to buy this brand is to ignore the word and use the structure. Three lines, two guarantee periods, and a published list of which categories HD actually covers. That is more information than most competitors give you and it is enough to choose with.
Is MEYLE made in Germany? The answer is Turkey and a network
This is the question the brand attracts most often, and the answer available from the manufacturer's own pages is clearer than the arguing about it online.
MEYLE says it develops and manufactures in its own factories, and the only factory its holding company names is SIO Automotive in Turkey, established in 1991, making steering and suspension components, and expanded with a second production shop in 2015. MEYLE's own production page points at that plant for coupling rods, control arms and chassis parts. Its description of Hamburg is a list of everything except manufacture: headquarters, central warehouse, development, testing, administration, sales, customer service and data management.
For everything it does not make, the company says it uses an international network of development and production partners, which it describes as including well known original equipment suppliers manufacturing to MEYLE's own strict specifications and standards. It names none of them and gives no country.
So the accurate sentence is that MEYLE is a German company that engineers in Germany, manufactures part of its range in Turkey, and buys the rest from unnamed partners against its own specification. That is not a criticism. It is close to how the whole of this segment works, and MEYLE is more forthcoming about it than most. But it does mean that anyone selling the brand to you as German-made has gone further than the manufacturer has.
Two businesses is not a supply chain
In our UAE supplier records MEYLE is named by four shops, and three of those are branches of the same company, so once branches are collapsed the brand is named by two distinct businesses. Two is below the threshold at which we are willing to describe a brand as available here.
That line is deliberately conservative and it is worth explaining. One or two businesses listing a brand proves the brand exists in the market and proves nothing about whether your part is anywhere near you. Building a list out of two names would suggest a network that is not there. So no availability claim is made anywhere above, and the businesses named lower down were picked on part category alone.
The other half of the problem is the manufacturer's side. MEYLE publishes the countries it has subsidiaries in and the Middle East is not among them, which means there is no manufacturer-named point of contact here to check a claim against. If a seller tells you they are the authorised MEYLE distributor for the UAE, there is nothing published we could use to confirm that, and you should treat it as their claim rather than as a fact.
Shops for suspension in the UAE
These shops are here because their recorded stock covers at least one of control arms, ball joints, tie rods, bushes, stabilizer link, brake discs, brake pads, cabin filter, water pump and engine mounts — not because we have confirmed that each one carries Meyle. We hold no reliable shop-by-shop record of which brands are on which shelf, so ring or message before you travel.

Meyle — common questions
- What is the difference between MEYLE ORIGINAL, PD and HD?
- ORIGINAL is the main catalogue, over 21,000 parts built to MEYLE's own specification for an OE-compliant fit. PD, for Performance Design, is around 1,300 re-engineered products concentrated in brake discs, brake pads and cabin air filters. HD, for High Durability, is a reinforced line addressing weak points MEYLE identified in parts that failed early. MEYLE states two years of guarantee on everything and four years on HD.
- Does MEYLE ORIGINAL mean it is the original equipment part?
- No. It is a line name. MEYLE describes it as an OE-compliant fit in full accordance with MEYLE specifications, developed by its own engineers, and as the quality of the original at a fair price. The specification being complied with is MEYLE's own.
- Is MEYLE made in Germany?
- Partly, and not in the way most people mean. The only factory its group names is SIO Automotive in Turkey, established 1991, making steering and suspension components. MEYLE describes Hamburg as headquarters, central warehouse, development and testing, not as a plant. Parts it does not make itself come from an unnamed international partner network built to its specification.
- Is MEYLE HD worth paying for?
- It depends on the part rather than the car. HD exists for components MEYLE identified as failing early in the original design, and it names the categories it covers: rear axle control arms, flex discs, stabiliser links, water pumps and suspension mounts. If you are replacing something for the second time, that is the case HD is aimed at, and it carries double the guarantee period.
- Who owns MEYLE?
- MEYLE AG in Hamburg is held by Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG, a family-run holding whose export business began in 1958. The same holding contains the electric conversion business emovum, a research institute, and the Turkish manufacturer SIO Automotive.
- Does MEYLE supply carmakers as original equipment?
- It does not claim to, and we name nobody. MEYLE calls itself a partner in the independent aftermarket, and its HD line is explicitly described as starting where an original equipment part failed early. That is a claim about improving somebody else's factory part, which is the opposite of an original equipment contract.
- Is MEYLE connected to the company called Meyle Middle East?
- No. A business trading under that name exists and works in industrial automation. It is a name collision and not the parts brand. MEYLE's own list of subsidiary countries includes no Middle East entry at all.
- Can I buy MEYLE in the UAE?
- Our supplier records name it at four shops, three of which are branches of one company, so two distinct businesses in total. That is below the point at which we will describe a brand as available here. It exists in the market; whether it is near you is a question worth answering by phone before you drive.
- How long is the MEYLE guarantee?
- MEYLE states two years on all products and four years on the HD line. That doubling is the clearest published difference between its lines, and it is the manufacturer's own statement rather than a retailer's.
- What did MEYLE change on the Mercedes control arm?
- MEYLE says the original ball joint on the W205 and W213 failed early, and that it enlarged the diameter of the internal ball pin while keeping the outer dimensions the same, which lowers surface pressure at the joint and lengthens service life. That is MEYLE describing its own redesign of a Mercedes part, and not a statement that Mercedes fits MEYLE.
- How much does MEYLE cost here?
- No figure is given, deliberately. Three lines, thousands of part numbers and a market where the same article moves between counters make a single figure meaningless, and one written today would mislead whoever reads it next spring. Ask us about your car and we will go and get real numbers.
