ACDelco parts in the UAE

General Motors' own parts brand: batteries, spark plugs, filters and brake parts

ACDelco is a trademark of its owner. We are not an authorised ACDelco dealer or distributor, and nothing here is endorsed by them. The name and mark are shown to say which parts we quote and source.

The quick answer

ACDelco is General Motors' own parts brand, headquartered in Warren, Michigan, and that ownership is the thing to understand before anything else. It is not an independent component manufacturer in the way NGK or Brembo are: it is the label under which GM sells parts for Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac, and it also sells a value tier for other makes. The current ladder is GM Genuine Parts and ACDelco original equipment at the top, then ACDelco Gold, then ACDelco Silver. Gold and Silver were called Professional and Advantage until fairly recently, which is why a UAE counter and an online listing will often describe the same part with two different tier names.

Key facts

  • ACDelco is owned by General Motors and is headquartered in Warren, Michigan. It is a carmaker's parts brand rather than an independent component manufacturer.
  • The name combines two histories: AC from Albert Champion, whose AC Spark Plug business GM absorbed, and Delco from the Dayton Engineering Laboratories Company.
  • GM merged AC Spark Plug's operations with United Delco in 1974 to create AC-Delco. The hyphen was dropped in 1995, which is why the brand writes itself as one word today.
  • The current tiers are GM Genuine Parts and ACDelco original equipment, then ACDelco Gold, then ACDelco Silver. Gold was previously called Professional and Silver was previously called Advantage.
  • GM Genuine Parts and ACDelco original equipment are the parts installed during production or validated by GM for Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles.
  • ACDelco Silver is the tier described as covering not only those four marques but most other makes and models as well.
  • ACDelco publishes warranty terms for its North American market. We found no published UAE warranty statement, so this page quotes no warranty period at all.

Original equipment

  • Chevrolet

GM owns both the vehicle brand and the parts brand, so GM Genuine Parts and ACDelco original equipment are described as the parts fitted during production or validated by GM for Chevrolet vehicles. This is a parts brand and a carmaker inside one company rather than a supply contract between two.

  • GMC

Covered by the same original-equipment relationship. For an owner in this market that is the practical significance of the brand: a GMC's own parts catalogue points at ACDelco rather than at an outside supplier's badge.

  • Cadillac

Also covered. Worth stating separately because Cadillac buyers here are frequently offered parts on the basis of the marque's premium positioning rather than on the basis of the tier they are actually being sold.

  • Buick

The fourth GM marque in the original-equipment tier. Rare on UAE roads compared with the other three, and included so that the list is the accurate one rather than the familiar one.

Those four marques are the whole of the original-equipment claim, and the boundary is worth holding onto because it is routinely blurred at a counter. ACDelco also sells parts for vehicles GM did not build, through the Silver tier, and that is an aftermarket range rather than an original-equipment one. Being sold an ACDelco part for a Japanese or German car is perfectly reasonable; being told it is therefore the original-equipment part for that car is not, and the two sentences sound almost identical when they are said quickly.

Where it is made

This table is empty for a reason that is specific to this brand rather than a failure of research. ACDelco is a parts brand owned by a vehicle manufacturer, not a factory with a name on the gate, and General Motors does not publish which supplier builds which ACDelco part or where. The other brands on this site are companies that make things and can be asked where; this one is a label a carmaker applies to a catalogue. So we cannot tell you where an ACDelco battery or filter was made, and the honest consequence is that country of origin is not a signal you can use here at all. The part number, the tier name on the box and the seller are.

ACDelco in the UAE

We name no UAE distributor in this table, and the reason is a technical one rather than an editorial one. General Motors describes a Middle East parts distribution centre in the Jebel Ali Free Zone which serves as the regional hub for service parts across its vehicle brands including ACDelco, and there is a regional ACDelco site covering batteries, spare parts and chemicals. Both of those pages refused our request outright, so what we have is a search engine's summary of a first-party page rather than a reading of the page itself. A summary is a good enough basis to tell you the operation exists, which we do in the body of this page; it is not a good enough basis to enter a named entity into a structured fact table that an assistant will lift verbatim. The practical route for an owner is the marque's own authorised dealer network for the original-equipment tiers, and an independent counter for Gold and Silver.

A carmaker's parts brand, which is not the same thing as a parts manufacturer

Almost every other brand covered on this site is a company that makes components and sells them under its own name. ACDelco is not that. It is an automotive parts brand owned by General Motors, headquartered in Warren, Michigan, and it is the label under which GM sells parts for the vehicles it builds.

This distinction is not academic, and it changes three practical things at once. It means the original-equipment claim is unusually clean, because the parts brand and the carmaker are the same company rather than two companies with a contract between them. It means the tier names are GM's marketing structure rather than a description of construction, so ACDelco Gold tells you where a part sits in GM's ladder and not what it is made of. And it means nobody publishes a factory list, because there is no single factory: GM does not say which supplier builds which ACDelco part.

Once you hold that in mind, most of the confusion around this brand resolves. The questions worth asking about ACDelco are which tier, for which vehicle, and on what warranty, in that order. The questions that work well for an independent manufacturer, such as where it is made and who it supplies at the factory, do not really apply here and cannot be answered honestly.

Where the name comes from, and why the spelling matters

The lineage is genuinely interesting and it explains a brand that otherwise looks like an arbitrary word. United Motors Corporation was formed by William C. Durant in 1916 as a holding company for automotive components and accessories. By around 1960 the Delco name had been applied across the division's branches as United Delco. In 1974 GM merged the operations of AC Spark Plug with United Delco to create AC-Delco, a name that stitches together Albert Champion, whose spark plug business became AC, and the Dayton Engineering Laboratories Company, which is where Delco comes from. The hyphen was dropped in 1995.

That history is why the brand is a spark plug company and a battery company and an electrical company at the same time. It is also why it is spelled four different ways in this market.

You will see ACDelco, which is how the brand writes itself today. You will see AC Delco with a space, which is how most people search for it and how it is most often written on a counter invoice here. You will see ACDELCO in capitals on a shelf label and AC-Delco with the old hyphen on older stock. All four are one brand. There is no meaningful distinction to read into which spelling a shop uses, and a seller using an old spelling is not a warning sign about the part; it usually just means the shop has been selling this brand for a long time.

The tiers, and the two names that quietly changed

The current structure has three levels above the counterfeit floor. At the top, GM Genuine Parts and ACDelco original equipment: the parts installed during production or validated by GM for Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles. Below that, ACDelco Gold, described as the high-quality alternative to the original-equipment part, built to GM's engineering requirements and covering most vehicles of those four marques. Below that, ACDelco Silver, the value option, covering those marques and most other makes and models as well.

The trap is that two of those names are new. ACDelco Gold was called Professional and ACDelco Silver was called Advantage. Both old names are still deeply embedded in catalogues, in listings, in workshop habits and in the memory of anyone who has been selling parts for more than a few years.

So a completely honest counter can offer you an ACDelco Professional part while an online listing for the same thing says Gold, and neither of them is misleading you. What matters is knowing they are the same rung. What also matters is the reverse case: if a seller uses Gold and Professional as though they were two different tiers, and prices them differently, that is a conversation worth having before you pay.

One thing we deliberately do not do on this page is repeat ACDelco's warranty periods. Those are published for the North American market, they are a contract between a buyer and a seller in that market, and printing them here would suggest they travel with the box to Sharjah. Warranty is dealt with in its own section below, because on batteries in particular it is the term of the deal that matters most.

Why this brand carries more weight here than it does in most markets

General Motors describes a Middle East parts distribution centre in the Jebel Ali Free Zone as the regional hub for storing and distributing service parts for the vehicles it sells across the region, under Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, GM Genuine Parts and ACDelco, feeding dealer partners across the Middle East and Africa. We should be straight about the strength of that: GM's own page would not open for our request, so we are describing a search engine's summary of it rather than something we read directly. We think the operation's existence is well enough established to tell you about it. We are not willing to put it in this page's structured fact table on that basis, which is why the distributor table above is empty and explains itself.

What follows is simple enough. If you run a Chevrolet, a GMC or a Cadillac here, ACDelco is not one aftermarket brand competing for your attention among twenty others. It is the parts brand your own vehicle's catalogue resolves to, which is a different relationship from the one you have with any independent manufacturer.

For everyone else, the picture is more ordinary. Silver is sold as covering most other makes and models, which makes ACDelco an aftermarket option on a non-GM car like any other aftermarket option, to be judged on the part number, the price and the seller rather than on the badge. In practice the ACDelco product most UAE drivers of any car actually encounter is a battery.

The warranty conversation, and why it matters most on a battery

A car battery in this country lives a hard life, and the mechanism is worth a sentence because it explains why the paperwork matters so much. Heat accelerates the chemical processes inside a lead-acid battery, including the ones that consume it: internal corrosion and water loss both run faster hot than cold. That is why batteries here are widely understood to have shorter working lives than the same product in a temperate climate.

We are not going to put a number on that, in months or in years, because we have no measurement we would stand behind and the useful answer varies enormously with how a specific car is used. A vehicle that sits at an airport car park for three weeks at a time and one that does short school runs every day are two different problems.

What we will say is this: because the working life is uncertain, the warranty is the part of the transaction with the most value in it, and it is also the part most often left vague. ACDelco publishes warranty terms for its North American market. We found no published UAE warranty statement, and North American terms are not the terms of a battery sold on a counter in Deira. So do not accept a period quoted verbally. Get the duration in writing on the invoice, get the date of sale on it, ask specifically whether it is a free replacement or a pro-rata credit, and ask who honours it, the shop or the importer. Those four questions take a minute and they are the whole of what a battery warranty is worth.

Buying ACDelco in the UAE

There are two sensible routes and they suit different situations. For the original-equipment tiers on a Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac or Buick, the marque's authorised dealer network is the straightforward path, and it is the one that keeps a warranty conversation simple while a vehicle is still inside one. For Gold and Silver, an independent parts counter is the normal route and is where the price difference lives.

We name no UAE trading house as an appointed ACDelco distributor on this page. That is not a comment on any shop; it reflects the fact that the first-party pages that would have let us verify an appointment did not open for us, and we would rather leave the table empty and explain why than fill it with something we read second hand.

What to actually do at the counter. Ask which tier you are being sold and get the tier name written on the invoice, because the price difference between the rungs is real and the box is where the difference is visible. Give the model, the year and the engine, since a Tahoe and a Silverado of the same year do not share every part. On a battery, check the group size and the cranking rating against what the car calls for rather than buying on physical fit alone, and settle the warranty in writing before you pay rather than after. And keep the old part until the new one has been in the car for a week: on electrical parts that is the cheapest insurance available.

Shops for batteries in the UAE

These shops are here because their recorded stock covers at least one of car battery, spark plugs, oil filter, air filter and brake pads — not because we have confirmed that each one carries ACDelco. We hold no reliable shop-by-shop record of which brands are on which shelf, so ring or message before you travel.

Where to actually buy this

Shops whose own website lists these parts, or whose stock we have recorded ourselves. Last checked July 2026. Not paid placement.

Listings are compiled from each business’s own public information. If you run one of these shops and want the entry corrected or removed, email easycarpartsteam@gmail.com.

ACDelco — common questions

Who owns ACDelco?
General Motors. ACDelco is GM's own automotive parts brand, headquartered in Warren, Michigan. That is why the original-equipment relationship with Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac is a matter of one company owning both sides rather than a supply contract between two companies.
Is it spelled ACDelco or AC Delco?
Both refer to the same brand. GM merged AC Spark Plug's operations with United Delco in 1974 to create AC-Delco, and the hyphen was dropped in 1995, so the brand writes itself as ACDelco today. AC Delco with a space is how most people search for it and how most UAE invoices spell it, and shelf labels often use capitals. Nothing should be read into which spelling a shop uses.
What is the difference between GM Genuine Parts and ACDelco?
They sit in the same top tier. GM Genuine Parts and ACDelco original equipment are described as the parts installed during production or validated by GM for Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles. ACDelco also covers two tiers below that, Gold and Silver, which are not original-equipment parts, and Silver extends beyond GM vehicles to most other makes and models.
What happened to ACDelco Professional and ACDelco Advantage?
They were renamed. Professional became ACDelco Gold and Advantage became ACDelco Silver. Both old names are still in wide use in catalogues, in listings and at counters, so a seller offering you a Professional part and a listing describing the same thing as Gold are describing the same rung. Be alert only if a seller prices Gold and Professional as though they were two different tiers.
Does ACDelco only fit Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac and Buick?
No. Those four are the marques covered by the original-equipment tier, because GM owns both them and the parts brand. ACDelco Silver is described as covering most other makes and models as well. The important distinction is that an ACDelco part for a non-GM car is an aftermarket part for it, not the original-equipment part for it, and those two claims sound alike when said at speed.
Where are ACDelco parts made?
We cannot tell you, and we are not going to guess. ACDelco is a parts brand owned by a vehicle manufacturer rather than a factory, and General Motors does not publish which supplier builds which ACDelco part or in which country. The practical consequence is that country of origin is not a useful signal for this brand at all. Judge the part on the tier, the part number and the seller.
What warranty does an ACDelco battery carry in the UAE?
This page publishes no warranty period. ACDelco's published warranty terms are for its North American market and they are not the terms of a battery sold on a counter here; we found no published UAE warranty statement. Get the duration written on the invoice with the date of sale, ask whether it is a free replacement or a pro-rata credit, and ask whether the shop or the importer honours it. A verbal warranty on a battery is worth nothing in the month you need it.
Are ACDelco batteries suitable for UAE heat?
We have no UAE-specific test data for this or any other battery brand, so we will not rank them for heat. What is worth knowing is the mechanism: heat speeds up the internal corrosion and water loss that consume a lead-acid battery, which is why batteries generally have shorter working lives here than in temperate climates. The things you can actually control are buying the correct group size and cranking rating for your car, and getting the warranty terms in writing.
Does ACDelco have an official distributor in the UAE?
We name none, because we could not verify one properly. General Motors describes a Middle East parts distribution centre in the Jebel Ali Free Zone that supplies service parts regionally under its vehicle brands and under ACDelco, and there is a regional ACDelco site, but both pages refused our request and we only have a search summary of them. The route that works today is the marque's authorised dealer network for the original-equipment tiers, and an independent counter for Gold and Silver.
Is an ACDelco Gold part as good as the original-equipment part?
ACDelco positions Gold as the high-quality alternative to the original-equipment part, built to General Motors' engineering requirements, for most Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles. That is the manufacturer's own positioning and it is a genuine claim about engineering requirements rather than a marketing adjective, but it is still their claim rather than an independent finding. If a vehicle is inside a manufacturer warranty, the tier you fit is a conversation to have before the work, not after it.
What do ACDelco parts cost in the UAE?
You will not find a price on this page. For this brand more than most, a single figure would be actively misleading, because the same part exists at three different tiers and the gap between the original-equipment rung and Silver is the whole reason the ladder exists. Tell us the vehicle, the part and which tier you want, and we will come back with what the shops carrying it are actually asking.
