NSK wheel bearings in the UAE

Bearings for vehicles, industrial machinery and precision equipment

NSK is a trademark of its owner. We are not an authorised NSK dealer or distributor, and nothing here is endorsed by them. The name and mark are shown to say which parts we quote and source.

The quick answer

NSK Ltd., registered as Nippon Seiko Kabushiki-gaisha, was established in Tokyo on 8 November 1916 and was the first maker of ball bearings in Japan. It is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange under 6471 and describes itself as a comprehensive bearing manufacturer, working across industrial machinery bearings, precision machinery components, and automotive bearings and related vehicle parts. In this market it is rarely bought on its own: the one shop in our supplier records that lists NSK lists it alongside NTN, Koyo, Nachi, Timken, Taiho and Daido, which is a Japanese bearings shelf rather than a brand choice. On 12 May 2026 NSK and NTN signed a memorandum of understanding to combine under a joint holding company, so two of the names on that shelf are now heading for one owner.

Key facts

  • NSK Ltd. was established in Tokyo on 8 November 1916 and was the first maker of ball bearings in Japan, which is the company's own claim on its own site.
  • It is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange under the code 6471 and is a Nikkei 225 constituent. Its registered name is Nippon Seiko Kabushiki-gaisha and its headquarters is in Shinagawa, Tokyo.
  • NSK organises what it makes into three categories: industrial machinery bearings, precision machinery components, and automotive bearings and related vehicle parts. It publishes no good, better and best ladder within them that we could find.
  • On 12 May 2026 NSK and NTN signed a memorandum of understanding to integrate their businesses through the establishment of a joint holding company by share transfer. Neither company is a subsidiary of the other and no merger has completed.
  • The scale figures in wide circulation — roughly 30,577 employees, 65 plants in 14 countries, operations in 29 nations and around three million bearings a day — are all March 2021 numbers and are five years old.
  • NSK publishes a brand protection section on its own corporate site. We could not open it, so this page attributes no counterfeit check to NSK.
  • In our UAE supplier records NSK appears on a single shelf, beside NTN, Koyo, Nachi, Timken, Taiho and Daido, which says more about how bearings are bought here than about NSK.

NSK — the range

NSK product ranges, as the manufacturer describes them
RangeHow it is builtWhat it is for
Automotive bearings and related vehicle partsThe vehicle side of the business, listed by NSK as one of its three product categoriesCars and commercial vehicles. NSK does not break this category into named product lines anywhere we could read, so neither do we
Industrial machinery bearingsThe industrial side, and historically the larger part of the companyMachine tools, motors, pumps and plant. The same brand name spans both worlds, which is why an NSK box turns up in an industrial supplier as readily as a car shop
Precision machinery componentsThe precision side, covering motion and positioning components rather than rolling bearings aloneEquipment rather than vehicles. Included so this table is honest about the whole company rather than only the part of it a workshop meets

Which one fits your car

Matching an engine to a NSK range
If this is your carUseWhy
A car or light commercial wheel bearing or hub unitAutomotive bearings and related vehicle partsThe category is right. The part is a number, and the number comes from the vehicle catalogue rather than from anything on this page.
You are being offered NSK, NTN, Koyo, Nachi and Timken for the same jobAutomotive bearings and related vehicle partsThat is a shelf, not a ladder. None of the five publishes a grade above the others, so the real question is which of them the counter has in your part number.
A bearing for a machine, motor or pump rather than a vehicleIndustrial machinery bearingsA genuine NSK bearing sold through an industrial supplier is still a genuine NSK bearing. It is also not selected the way a car part is.
A precision motion or positioning componentPrecision machinery componentsNot a car part. Listed so nobody is sold one as an accessory to a wheel bearing job.

The range descriptions are the manufacturer’s. Matching them to a car is our guidance, and it is a starting point rather than a fitment check — the part number is what actually decides. Send us the make, model and year and we will confirm it.

Original equipment

No vehicle manufacturer is named on this page, because NSK names none that we could read. What makes this worth a paragraph rather than a shrug is how this brand is actually encountered here. NSK arrives on a shelf beside five or six other Japanese bearing names, all of them with long original-equipment histories, none of them publishing a customer list. A counter will often tell you that one of them is the factory brand for a particular car, and that claim may even be right, but it is being made by the person selling it and it is not being made by any of the manufacturers. The only version of the question that resolves is a part number checked against the vehicle manufacturer's own catalogue, and it is the same answer whichever of those six names you are being offered.

Where it is made

We have not published a country list for NSK, and the reason is a date rather than a blank. The only figures we could find — 65 plants across 14 countries, with operations spanning 29 nations — come from March 2021 and do not name the countries. Five years is a long time in manufacturing, an unnamed set of 14 countries cannot be turned into a list without inventing one, and NSK publishes nothing we could reach mapping a plant to a part number. So: NSK manufactures widely outside Japan, we cannot tell you where, and a Japanese brand name on a bearing box is not a promise of a Japanese origin mark.

NSK in the UAE

No NSK entity, regional office or authorised distributor in the United Arab Emirates could be sourced. Every corporate sub-path on NSK's own site that might have carried one returned an error, so this is a limit on what we could read rather than a finding that nothing exists. What our own records do show is a single UAE shop listing NSK among the brands it carries, and the interesting thing about that listing is not the shop but its neighbours: NTN, Koyo, Nachi, Timken, Taiho and Daido on the same line. One listing is not availability and we make no claim from it. Any shop further down this page earned its place by keeping parts of this kind, which is a far softer thing to have shown, and it is not offered as anything more.

One shelf, six Japanese names

The most useful thing we know about NSK in this market did not come from NSK. It came from our own record of what a shop says it carries.

There is one shop in our UAE supplier records that lists NSK, and it does not list it on its own. On the same line sit NTN, Koyo, Nachi, Timken, Taiho and Daido. That is not a random assortment: it is a bearings shelf, stocked by a business that buys Japanese bearing brands as a category and expects to satisfy a customer from whichever of them happens to have the number.

Understanding that changes the question you should be asking. Most people arrive at a page like this wanting to know whether NSK is better than NTN or whether Koyo is the one their car came with. In a shop stocked that way, the honest answer is that the brand is decided after the number, not before it. You give a counter a part number, they look through what they have, and the box that comes back has whichever of those six names carries that reference in stock today.

That is not a criticism of the shop and it is not an argument that brands do not matter. It is a description of how a bearing is genuinely bought here, and it explains why so much of the brand argument you will hear across a counter is being generated by the person selling rather than by any of the six manufacturers, none of which publishes a customer list.

1916, and Japan's first ball bearings

NSK Ltd., registered as Nippon Seiko Kabushiki-gaisha, was established in Tokyo on 8 November 1916. Its own corporate pages carry the claim that it was the first maker of ball bearings in Japan, and it describes itself as a comprehensive bearing manufacturer rather than a specialist in any one segment. It is headquartered in Shinagawa in Tokyo, is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange under 6471, and is a constituent of the Nikkei 225.

Being first in a country in 1916 is a real distinction and it explains the shape of the company: the industrial side is large, the precision side is substantial, and the automotive side is one of three rather than the whole business.

We are not naming NSK's founders on this page. The attribution that circulates gives two names, one of which belongs to a very prominent Japanese statesman, and the pairing reads as garbled or at best in need of a second source we could not obtain. The date and the first-in-Japan claim both come from NSK itself and carry the history perfectly well without a founder attached to them.

NSK and NTN have agreed to combine, and that is all that has happened

On 12 May 2026 NSK and NTN signed a memorandum of understanding to integrate their businesses through the establishment of a joint holding company by share transfer. The announcement comes from NSK itself, which makes it first-party evidence from a party to the agreement.

The tense matters here as much as it does anywhere on this site. A memorandum of understanding is an agreement to work towards a structure, not the structure. NTN is not a subsidiary of NSK, NSK is not a subsidiary of NTN, and no merged company exists. Press reporting has put the target for integration at October 2027; that date is not in the announcement we read and is carried here as a report rather than as a commitment.

For somebody buying a bearing this week the practical consequence is nil, and that is worth saying plainly rather than dressing the news up. The box still says NSK, the part numbers are unchanged, and the two catalogues are still two catalogues. What the agreement does change is the shelf described at the top of this page: two of the six names on it are on their way to one owner, which will eventually make the choice between them a question about stock rather than about suppliers.

What we are not telling you about NSK's car parts, and why

A brand page is expected to list the range, and this one does not do it properly. That is deliberate and it is the honest cost of a rule we keep.

NSK is well known in the aftermarket for hub unit bearings, clutch release bearings, belt tensioners and idlers, and electric power steering systems. None of that is on this page as a product line, because we could not source it. Every corporate and product sub-path we tried on NSK's own site returned an error, and the only categorisation we could obtain is the three top-level groupings that appear in the table above.

So the ranges table here has exactly three rows where a comparable page might have eight, and every row is a category rather than a product. We would rather show you three sourced categories than eight plausible product names, because the eight would look far more authoritative and would be worth considerably less.

If you need to know whether NSK makes a particular part for a particular car, the answer is a lookup against a current catalogue rather than a fact about the brand, and a counter with the catalogue open will resolve it in a minute.

Numbers from 2021 wearing a 2026 date

Every scale figure quoted for NSK in general circulation comes from the same place and the same moment: roughly 30,577 employees, 65 production plants in 14 countries, operations spanning 29 nations, capital of 67.2 billion yen and net sales of 747.6 billion yen, all as at March 2021. The often-repeated figure of around three million bearings produced a day, from miniature units up to five metres in diameter, sits in the same set.

None of that is wrong and none of it is current. It is five years old, published by a company that has since agreed to combine with one of its largest competitors, and it is the sort of set that gets quoted forever without a date attached because it sounds like a description rather than a measurement.

We have dated it, which is the whole of the fix. Read those numbers as a snapshot of what NSK looked like in 2021 and they are useful. Read them as what NSK is today and you are quoting history.

NSK has a brand protection programme, and we could not open it

This section exists to record a gap precisely rather than to fill it.

NSK's own corporate navigation carries a brand protection section. That is first-party evidence that the company publishes something on counterfeits — it is a heading on NSK's own site. We could not reach the section itself, because every sub-path we tried returned an error, so we do not know what it says.

The consequence is that this page attributes no counterfeit check to NSK. No hologram, no code position, no packaging feature, nothing. Describing a check we have not read would be putting words in a manufacturer's mouth about the one subject where being wrong causes the exact harm the advice is meant to prevent.

What we can point at is not NSK-specific: the bearing industry runs a shared authentication app, backed jointly by the American, Japanese and European bearing manufacturers' associations, which validates a printed packaging code. NSK is among the makers behind it. And the oldest advice in this trade still applies and needs no manufacturer to publish it, which is that a bearing bought from a seller who expects to see you again has somebody standing behind it.

How to buy well off a shelf like that

Everything above points at a short, unromantic method, and it works whichever of the six names comes back.

Take the number. The reference off the old bearing, or the vehicle manufacturer's number from a catalogue, is the only thing in this transaction that is not an opinion. Hand that to the counter rather than a brand name.

Expect a substitution and do not treat it as a problem in itself. On a Japanese bearings shelf the counter will often reach for a different one of the six than the one you asked for. That is normal stocking, not a switch, as long as the reference matches. What is worth resisting is the reverse move, where a brand is offered instead of a number, because a brand cannot tell you the bore, the width or the load rating and a number can.

Then look at the box before you pay. Not for a brand you recognise, which is what counterfeiters count on, but for a packaging code you could have validated and a seller you could go back to. That is a duller instruction than a list of things to look at, and unlike a list we have not read, it is one we can stand behind.

Shops for suspension in the UAE

These shops are here because their recorded stock covers at least one of wheel bearings — not because we have confirmed that each one carries NSK. We hold no reliable shop-by-shop record of which brands are on which shelf, so ring or message before you travel.

NSK — common questions

What does NSK stand for?
It comes from the company's registered Japanese name, Nippon Seiko Kabushiki-gaisha. NSK Ltd. was established in Tokyo on 8 November 1916 and is headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo.
Was NSK really the first ball bearing maker in Japan?
That is NSK's own claim on its own corporate site, and we publish it as such. It also describes itself as a comprehensive bearing manufacturer, meaning it works across industrial, precision and automotive rather than specialising in one.
Are NSK and NTN merging?
They have agreed to work towards it. On 12 May 2026 the two signed a memorandum of understanding to integrate their businesses through a joint holding company established by share transfer. Nothing has completed, neither is a subsidiary of the other, and press reporting of an October 2027 target is a report rather than something either company stated in the announcement we read.
Does the NSK and NTN agreement change the bearing I should buy?
Not today. The box still says NSK, the part numbers are unchanged and the two catalogues are still separate. What it will eventually change is that two of the Japanese names sitting on the same shelf here will belong to one owner, making the choice between them a stock question rather than a supplier question.
Is NSK better than NTN, Koyo or Timken?
None of them publishes a grade above the others and we are not going to invent a ranking. In this market they usually sit on the same shelf in the same shop, which means the practical question is not which brand is best but which of them the counter holds in the part number your car needs.
Which car makers fit NSK bearings at the factory?
We name none, because NSK names none that we could read. This is common to every major bearing brand and it is why counter claims about factory fitment are usually the seller's rather than the manufacturer's. A part number checked against the vehicle manufacturer's own catalogue is the only version of that question that resolves.
Where are NSK bearings made?
In many countries and we cannot tell you which. The only figure we could find is 65 plants across 14 countries as at March 2021, which does not name them, and NSK publishes nothing we could reach mapping a plant to a part number. A Japanese brand name is not a promise of a Japanese origin mark.
Does NSK make hub units and clutch release bearings?
It is well known for them, and we did not manage to source it, so this page does not list them as product lines. Every product sub-path on NSK's own site returned an error for us. The three categories in the table above are all we could obtain, and three sourced categories are worth more than eight plausible product names.
How do I tell whether an NSK bearing is genuine?
We attribute no check to NSK, because although its own site carries a brand protection heading we could not open the section behind it. What is not NSK-specific is the bearing industry's shared authentication app, backed by the American, Japanese and European manufacturers' associations, which validates a printed packaging code. Beyond that, the seller is the check.
Are NSK's published figures current?
No. The employees, plants, capital and net sales figures in general circulation are all March 2021 numbers, and so is the three-million-bearings-a-day line. They are a useful snapshot of 2021 and should never be quoted as a description of the company today.
Why does an NSK box turn up in an industrial supplier?
Because industrial machinery bearings are one of NSK's three product categories and, historically, the larger side of the business. The same brand spans plant and vehicles. An NSK bearing bought through an industrial channel is genuine; it is simply not selected the way a car part is.
Can I buy NSK in the UAE?
Our records find it on a single shelf, which is not enough to make an availability claim from, and we could not source an NSK entity or authorised distributor in the country either. Shops further down the page qualified on the kind of part they keep, not on the badge.
